The new Monta...what's up with all the ink?
Spurs acquire Kurt Thomas
So kiss the possibility of getting big Kurt McGurt, the ladies' flirt, mr. muscle t-shirt, whose calf muscles hurt, and always favored Ernie over Burt, goodbye...
I'm guessing that an offer of MP, POB, and the TPE wasn't enough... i like how the sonics have twerked themselves 3 first rounders in what should be a nice draft this summer..that's how rebuilding is done folks

PG ideas: Warriors after Armstrong?
http://www.tucsoncitizen.com/daily/frontpage/60576.php
Just saw this on RealGM and it got me thinking. At 33, he's definitely not the player he used to be. I'm not that savvy to his game these days but one thing I do know is that he is a proven ball-handler who could come off the bench and still run our offense while putting up a couple points.
His contract, 2 years left, $4 a year. A little steep considering his age, but I'd much rather have mighty mouse than cabbages for next year.
thoughts?

[Moderator's Note, by OptionZero:] I'm gonna merge the Payton diary and this one, since both cover the topic of veteran PG additions.

Gary Payton - In keeping with the trend of AARP-eligible players, the Glove might be the Warriors' best option. Sure, he may have lost a step or seven, but Payton is still a tenacious competitor with loads of experience. His feisty attitude should be well received by the other Golden Staters and the fans are bound to welcome the Oakland native. The aforementioned loss of quickness makes it hard for Payton to match-up defensively with most other point guards, but he still possess good size and enough speed to keep up with many shooting guards. Bearing that in mind, the Glove could pair well with Monta Ellis, with Ellis picking up the point guards on defense but playing off the ball on offense with Payton switching on to the point to act as a distributor (something he still does rather proficiently). In my opinion, Gary Payton is the best choice for the Ws. He brings defense, veteran experience, and leadership that our young Warriors really need, not to mention he is from Oakland and was once a superstar called "The Glove".

Minor rumor, don't think it deserves its own diary unless it's further substantiated, but here it is:
The Warriors, Nets, Bobcats and Mavericks all reportedly are interested should the Pacers opt to move Darrell Armstrong, whose contract for 2007-08 is not guaranteed. In the meantime, Armstrong has remained at his Atlanta home and has chosen not to enroll his children in school should there be a need for a sudden move. "I'm not going to put the kids in school until we know where we'll be,'' he told The Orlando Sentinel, "so, for now, we're all at home (in Atlanta), playing video games.'' OT: Elton Brand ruptures left Achilles tendon during workout
per ESPN:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2960614
Los Angeles Clippers forward Elton Brand ruptured his left Achilles tendon on Friday during his daily workout.
Brand, 28, will undergo surgery but plans for the operation have not been finalized yet, the Clippers said.
this could potentially be a season-ending injury for Brand - if that's the case the Clippers are done for.

Idea: Dee Brown
Sounds like Dee Brown could be on his way out in Utah with the recent signings of Ronnie Price and Jason Hart. That would put him at the 3 or 4 spot in the PG rotation over there. He's a restricted free agent and the Jazz didn't make a qualifying offer so apparently he's open to outside offers.
I only saw him play in a couple games (outside of our playoff series) but he seemed capable of running an offense - although the Jazz's half-court sets are vastly different from the W's run-and-gun game.
Would he be a good fit for us? And do you think the Jazz would be interested in possbily swinging a sign and trade Brown for Cabbages and salary filler? Cabbages seems like he would be a better fit in their offense.

Dunleavy Responds To The Boos
http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/sports/basketball/nba/golden_state_warriors/16057628.htm
Dunleavy tries to laugh it off, but it's obviously an issue. Maybe he can use it as a motivator to continue his good play as of late and will stop sucking balls like he has the past few years.
The ball sucking needs to stop and now is the time and here is the place! and i'm rambling to fulfill the minimum character requirement..which i just did right now

Why is Dejuan Wagner not playing?
i see he is still on our inactive list. considering the W's have been having trouble scoring the ball, something Dejuan excels at, why not activate him and give him some run? he had a great training camp and good preseason. plus it seemed like nellie liked what he was showing him. it's not like he can cure all our ailments by himself, but i think he could make some positive contributions.
roberson has his roster spot and i'd rather see dejuan in there than roberson any night. does anyone know if he's injured or what the deal is?

The Oakland Arena to be renamed...
The Oracle
just announced on KNBR..Oracle has signed a 10 year sponsorship agreement.
I'm against corporate names to begin with and was happy that nobody cared enough to make a real bid at the naming rights for the Warriors court. But considering some of the horrible names out there, the Oracle doesn't sound that bad - it has a mysterious ring to it.
What do you think?
