What moves do you think that we can realistically make (No CP3, or Howard talk) that could get us out of the first round in 2014?

Assume that Aldridge remains steady, Batum improves with increased touches, and minutes (35 mpg, 16.5 ppg, 3 asst, 5.5 reb.) and that Lillard is a realistic candidate for ROY.

I mean no disrespect to Oden, or Roy. I'm just interested in how much you value them given their current states. Putting aside the one million variables that go into such a trade occurring, what ONE player would represent the minimum return value you would expect to see from trading our former all star and (former) future all star? Ignore salaries/availability, take into account that little is known about their future abilities/inability, and current needs in the rotation.
I mean no disrespect to Oden, or Roy.

Miller/Camby for Smith/Hinrich. It also works out if we throw in Batum. The Hawks are interested in moving Smith. They can then move Horford to the PF where he wants to be. Smith/Aldridge would be an incredible combo down low, and we could then afford to play Aldridge fewer minutes as we would have two strong offensive big men. Also we get the defensive minded shooter in Hinrich. Anyone think this could happen?

A fan could drive their self crazy thinking about the potential trades that Cho has said he is actively pursuing. Well, It's super bowl Sunday, just a few weeks from the deadline, and all I've seen in recent weeks is a front page blurp that Steve Nash ain't leavin'. I know Cho isn't going to find our PGOTF and a backup big man with post moves in one swing without giving up on our BAT (Big Active Three) I can't help but be excited.
A fan could drive their self crazy thinking about the potential trades that Cho has said he is actively pursuing.
Without Roy, what McMillan needs next to realize is that a happy, in rhythm Fernandez is a positive for the Blazers. I like what Patty is bringing, but if it were up to me Andre, Rudy, and Wesley would be taking up almost all the time available in the PG, and SG positions. Rudy runs offense, Mathews brings it up the floor.

With the injuries we have sustained, and the talent we still have, Rudy becoming our Manu may be out best shot to continue our title contention.

Is anyone else for adding Fernandez to our indispensables list of Batum, Mathews, and Aldridge?
Without Roy, what McMillan needs next to realize is that a happy, in rhythm Fernandez is a positive for the Blazers.
Is he trying to put on weight? Working on his ball handling, and pull up jumper? For how much this community loves him I'm surprised I haven't heard more about his summer schedule.

All I ever see is that nobody wants to trade him unless we get Chris Paul in return (by the way I don't want this to be a thread about whether or not this will happen, or whether we want it to, please). Can anyone offer new info?
Is he trying to put on weight? Working on his ball handling, and pull up jumper?

Big fan of the site, not a regular poster. Here are my thoughts.

Brilliant game. Steve Nash, as unstoppable as he is, cannot carry his team into the second round without solid support offensively. We showed tonight, that we have the confidence, the offensive firepower, and the defensive capability to shut down the supporting cast in this match up. We frustrated the heck out of Amare, and though we did at times have some trouble closing out beyond the arch our backcourt showed its grit.

Defense wins championships, and though it may be a long shot to propose that this team can make it to the finals it is fair IMO to propose that this series is already coming to a close. We've got them on their heels, and behind the defensive capabilities of Batum, and Camby as well as the offense of Aldridge and Miller we'll show the league that this is a team game, and only as a team will wins come.

Miller has solidified himself as a local hero to fans of the Blazers in recent months, and tonight was no different. He distributed when he needed to and scored when he needed to, and as always he proved himself to be clutch at the foul line. As we all know, JudgeDridge's confidence does tend to waver, but with the supporting cast performing as it did tonight, and the pressure of the opening win released, I see his game improving, in terms of efficiency, dramatically in the coming week, and a more consistent, relaxed PF emerging. The bench, though, is vital to this proposition.

As we all know, Jerryd is a monster when he has his confidence, and tonight he was King Kong. I foresee more driving, and fewer jump shots for him in the near future as a result. This in combination with the streaky offense and lock down defense of Martell Webster will push us over the boarder into Texas for the second round. There is only one question remained to be answered.

Will Rudy Fernandez show us what he is truly capable of? In my mind the remainder of the series may hinge on the comparative performance of Rudy to the Phoenix bench. Though our two major bench role players bailed him out tonight, I'm still looking to Rudy to regain his confidence and provide the creativity, and spark that we will need when we inevitably reach a stalwart. Especially on our home court noone has the potential to sway the crowd like he does.

Go Blazers.

P.S. Channing Frye, having lost confidence in his team to finish strongly, will play poorly for the rest of the series.

This is not criticism coming purely from his potential game winner tonight. I have been feeling it for a solid stretch of games now. I believe Bayless has been relying a little to heavily on his jumpshot very recently. Not that it hasn't improved, and not that it isn't as good as most nba players, it's just that I think he is too much in his head and he is best when he is just an animal, doing anything to get to the rim. My two cents? Despite Rex's incredible ability to get points in the paint and draw fouls in the closing minutes, I'm twice as confident with Rudy or LMA having the ball in their hands in the final seconds.
Help me dispel this feeling that I have. I feel like Roy should play more time at PG, and maybe even start there. As much as I love Blake, moving Roy into a greater roll at PG would increase the space that Martell, Rudy, and Batum desperately need for their continued development at SG and SF. Andre, of course, would play the point more time, but Blake would be all but phased out.

I know that Roy doesn't really like playing the point, and I don't have time to discuss rotations, etc. (which is why this is a fanshot), but PLEASE tell me why this won't work so I can get my mind off it.
Help me dispel this feeling that I have.
