I fell in love with the 1986 Indians of Carter, Butler, Tabler, Bando, Jacoby, Julio, Bernazard, and Corrales and have been in love ever since. While I now live in New York, I will never "yank over." The Tribe -- this is my team!

Oviedo suspended eight weeks
"The suspension is not retroactive and will not start until Oviedo returns to the United States after receiving a visa."
This is not encouraging news for fans of a team that employs Roberto Hernandez.
Happy Opening Day! (kinda)
MLB is the only sports entity that would start its regular season in such an anticlimactic way. Great job, Bud!
The 10 best things about being a Tribe fan
Vince G from the Scene takes a stab at why it's good to be a Tribe fan, for Yahoo! I agree with a lot of it.
Alex White pinched for DUI
He might be charged with "extreme DUI," since his blood alcohol level was over 0.15.
That's now an alcohol-related charge for both Pomz and White (Pomz's was eventually dismissed). I know these guys are young, but is there any chance Shaptonetti bundled these two because of character issues? I suppose we'll never know.
Aaaaand... Grady's hurt already
According to Bastian, Sizemore will miss Opening Day due to an injury suffered three weeks ago.
Oy. Paging Michael Brantley for CF duty.
Hoynes: Hernandez out of jail, apologizes
According to Hoynsie, the Tribe will not terminate its contract with the erstwhile Fausto Carmona, and is working to bring Roberto Hernandez Heredia back to the US.
As always, I recommend avoiding the comments section.
The 1996 Cleveland Indians had Eddie Murray, Manny Ramirez, Jim Thome, Jeff Kent and Omar Vizquel. Murray is already in the Hall of Fame, and the other four, I imagine, will get serious consideration. Kenny Lofton is a sixth who could get consideration, too.
Those Indians also had Albert Belle, Julio Franco, Sandy Alomar, Tony Peña, Carlos Baerga, Brian Giles and Jeromy Burnitz, all of whom have at least appeared on the Hall of Fame ballot. Belle actually appeared on two ballots, and Peña received votes.
That was one loaded team.
JoePo, in a piece where he walks us through his HoF ballot. (He seems to have forgotten about Denny Martinez and Orel Hershiser, who were also with that club.)
Beckett, Lackey, Lester as douchey as you might expect
Wow. This is a fun (and salacious) read. Couldn't happen to a cooler bunch of guys, or a better fan base.
Pronk to return soon
Pronk's not done for the season, after all. He'll return and split DH duties with James Howard Thome, according to Y!
AL Central Watch: KCR extends Francoeur through '13
KCR will have Frenchie's services for his age 28 and 29 seasons.
Does this inspire more or less worry than the De. Young trade?
Manny was about as enamored with the umpiring as LGT was last night.

A better Verducci article
Verducci talks with the Beaneius about the changing attitude of all GMs, and how the Over-Information Age has led to overvalued prospects.
Verducci on altitude's effects on SPs (written pre-trade)
Perhaps the COL brain trust read this article before the trade deadline?

Ballplayers and aging
A nice read on ballplayers and Father Time. We can all take solace that it forgets no one, even Jeet.
Tribe partners with BP
I'm all for getting fans to the ballpark, but I would rather the Tribe had partnered with any other gas brand.
Acta demands respect
Good profile on Manny that avoids most of the national media tropes about this club and the city of Cleveland.
Yahoo! has photos of Pure Rage after he threw the ball into the fountains at the Big K.
Deadspin has video, but I don't want to link to that site.
Haren pushed back a day
The Tribe will face Tyler Chatwood in his major league debut tonight, as Haren has been pushed back a day due to his relief inning in LAAofA's 14-inning game.
Manny Ramirez retires
This is abrupt and surprising, to say the least. Do we think it was to avoid more steroid allegations?
Does TBR want Jordan Brown now?
Possible explanation for the "Year of the Pitcher"?
This is inriguing. Why didn't the smaller-diameter bats get more pub during the '10 regular season?
Castro: MLB has parity
Our old pal Castro uses MLB.com to tell us that MLB is fine, and has as much parity -- if not more -- than the NFL.
NYY to take a look at Colon
I didn't want the Tribe to give him a look, specifically, but the number of filler SP choices continues to dwindle.
Voros McCracken profile
Thorough pice on the guy who brought BABIP (or, more specifically, DIPS) into the world.
Y! talks about a complete roster blowup
Kelly Dwyer at Yahoo! says that Andy's injury should lead to a complete teardown of the Cavs roster. I have to agree.
Clifton PHIfer Lee
Sometimes the Chuckster is right.
Clifton Phifer left a lot of money on the table to re-join the Phils. 5x ~$20MM contract to wear maroon again.
new investment: Dominican prospects
Pretty weird and sad.
PIT still plays dirty
The Pats had some issues with the continued dirty play of Steeler defensive players.
