+/- and TOI
I was thinking about Kovalchuk and his terrible +/- over his career and then it dawned on me.
Now, I know that +/- isn't a great statistic, but is there a way of combining +/- and dividing it by Time On Ice? I mean if Kovalchuk plays 22+ mins a game, and is -2 and Boulton plays 4 minutes and is -1 that surely means that Boulton is worse on the ice when prorated, even though he was only on for one goal against.
So, does this kind of statistic exist? Obviously, the larger the sample, the more realistic the answer you will get. However, perhaps it could be argued that it may prove nothing; but I'm just curious.

On my travels through the internet, I found a very clever concept...football jerseys for hockey teams...
If it was to materialise, would you pick up a devils one?
Which is your favourite?
(The three stars is a nice touch too)
Predictions: Re-visited....from last September...
Wayyyyyyyy back at the beginning of the season, I made my predictions as to how the regular season will pan out, and I must say, I've got some right and some terribly wrong...
I've invented an arbitrary scoring system to compare East and West with my predictions
I've given myself +3 if i got the playoffs (made/didn't) correct or not, +3 if I've got the place correct.
If they have/haven't made the playoffs and I was wrong I get -3 and then -1 for each position I was wrong... (It's nice to have a day off work to do this....)
Spin the wheel of fortune....
Just saw this through an absolute fluke, thought you might have a go on behalf of all hockey fans...
Let your creativity shine!

Predictions for the regular season...
Ok folks, it that time of year again... and I hope you are as excited about this year as I am...
Anyway I've put my predictions together for another regular season, We'll see how I do by next April/May.
Boston Bruins vs Belfast Giants - a personal recap
Well, that was an evening I don't think I'll ever forget. To have an NHL team, the team I watch online, the team with the most history in the NHL, that's certainly not something that comes to Ireland too often. But there I was, 20 rows from Milan Lucic, fan-favourite Zdeno Chara, Tyler Seguin, right within what was almost touching distance. Being a New Jersey Devils fan was put to one side, for just a game. Seeing an NHL team was a novelty that I am blessed to have just had, and an Eastern Conference rival could have my attention for just one night.
Belfast Giants vs Boston Bruins - a few notes
I was just at the game tonight and noticed a few things about the Bruins this season.
After a 5-1 victory, which Boston outshot the opposition, I don't think you could really be over the moon about the performance.
Anyway here's a few points about tonight's game.
Mark Streit - Injured
Well it looks like the Islanders could be in trouble, now that their number 1 D-Man is gone...
Sad news because he's one of the best in the NHL.
Anyway, from a Devils point of view, could we look to ship someone out now that the Islanders have plenty of cap room?
This deadline is fast approaching and I know there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes...but this could be seen as an opportunity...
The season ahead...a quick thought
Hello to all.
Long time reader, first time writer here so go easy on me.
I've been looking long and hard at all of the posts and articles written on the site, from the other side of the atlantic.
Its seems that everyone is very caught up in this Kovy debacle and what happens where, to who....
After perusing the capgeek pages and looking at the Devils in every respect possible, us as Devils fans must be pleased with what is happening.
Parise - Zajac - Kovalchuk
Elias - Arnott - Rolston
Lagenbrunner - Zubrus - Clarkson
Tedenby - Josefson - Zharkov
Henrique - Palmieri - Leblond
Sestito - Davis - Vasyunov
Volchenkov - Greene
Tallider - White
Salvador - Salmela
Urbom - Corrente (Gelinas)
Brodeur
Hedberg
Frazee
Of course that's not the exact lines and even taking Kovalchuk out of that team still makes it as formidable as ever.
Now, here comes a few points I'd like to make (my 2c).
