Talking Chop Holliday or Dye?

I know we finally got rid of Failcoeur, which can only help the outfield, but we will probably need a left fielder next year.  Let's face it, Heyward probably won't be 100% MLB-ready on opening day next year, so we will probably need to sing another bat for left.  The two best corner outfield options would be Matt Holliday and Jermaine Dye.  I would love for us to sign both of these guys, but we just won't have the money to do it.  Plus, Heyward will definately be ready by 2011.  So my plan would be to put one of them in left next year, and then when Heyward is ready, put him in right.  Holliday is definately overrated, but he is still the better all-around player.  And he is several years younger than Dye.  But Dye would come cheaper and is the better home run hitter that we desperately need, although he is aging and will probably drop off at least a little next year.

Brew Crew Ball Rumorville: Javier Vazquez

I just heard on MLBTR that Buster Olney speculates the Braves and Brewers might make a trade soon.  Since you all need starting pitching, and we need an outfielder, we could give you Javier Vazquez, and in return we get Corey Hart and maybe one additional player.  I thought the speculation was realistic, and it made sense for both sides.  We could finally get someone to replace Francoeur in right field, and you get a solid, durable innings-eater in Vazquez.  So what do you all think about this possible trade?

Windy City Gridiron How much could Farve help the Vikings?

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfcnorth/0-12-64/Projecting-Favre-s-impact.html

In this computer simulation, it says that us and the Vikings should be about tied for the division without Farve in the picture.  But with him, it says, the Vikings should win the division.  So, will Farve be that much of a difference maker?  Does he still have enough in the tank to be an NFL quarterback?  I think he is an upgrade over Jackson and Rosenfels, but he won't be a huge difference maker.  If you can recall, he did absolutely horrible late last season.  And I think that is a sign for him to hang up the spikes.

Talking Chop Should Infante play every day

Another poll here.  I am a huge fan of Omar Infante, and he has been doing really well when healthy.  And as we all know, Johnson is struggling and, in my opinion, is better suited for a bench role.  I think either Infante or Prado should be our everyday second baseman.  Not only because they are both better than Johnson, but also because they are right-handed hitters, which we need in our lineup.  So, who should it be?

Talking Chop Which young pitcher would you rather have?

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/06/discussion-which-young-pitcher-would-you-take.html

I would take Strasburg.  I know he hasn't been tested yet in the majors, but he is being touted as the best pitching prospect ever.  He is a strikeout machine, and he throws a 103 mph fastball.  And if you were wondering, money isn't a factor in this poll.  Just assume they being paid an equal amount.  Try not to be biased and give an honest answer.

Talking Chop Where should McLouth hit?

I have been asking this question since the day we acquired him.  McLouth is a 20-20 player with both power and speed, which we really need both of.  The good thing about this guy is that he can hit pretty much anywhere in the lineup.  We need a leadoff hitter, but we also need a power hitting 3-4-5 thype player, and he is both of those.  Where do you think he is best suited?

Windy City Gridiron Can we still get Boldin?

So have the Cardinals officially taken Anquan Boldin off the market?  I've heard that the two sides are coming closer to an extention.  I know it would be tough to get him without next year's first round pick to trade, but I still think we can do it.  And if we somehow can pull off a trade for him, we've got a superbowl team.  I would be willing to give up almost anything for Boldin.

Talking Chop Adrian Gonzalez on the block?

mlb.fanhouse.com/2009/05/15/padres-should-trade-adrian-gonzalez/

If we could pull off a trade for Gonzalez, we would be automatic contenders.  I know we all said the same thing about Tex, but I think AG is better and this time we actually have the pitching to take us to the promised land.  It would also make sense for the Padres, since they won't be contending any time soon, and they have a stud first base prospect in Kyle Blanks.  I say we offer Heyward, Morton, and Locke for him.  I know you think I'm crazy for offering Heyward but Gonzalez would be a huge presence in the lineup for years to come.  That trade would leave us with Kotchman.  I think we should either trade him or move him to left.  Another good thing this trade could do for us is that it would make Freeman available for trade.

Revenge of the Birds Bears fan here

First off, congrats on your superbowl apperance.  You all have a great team.  Anyways, this is yet another post about Boldin, and I apologize.  I'm just curious. . . Suppose we offered you our second round pick(49th overall), our TE Desmond Clark, and WR Earl Bennett for Boldin.  Do you think the Cardinals front office would accept the trade?  I know we aren't one of the teams expected to land him, but Jerry Angelo has proven he does, in fact, have the balls to make a big trade.  So, would you accept the offer?

Windy City Gridiron Just how much is Boldin worth?

As we all know, the Cardinals have officially made it known that they will at least listen to offers for Anquan Boldin.  And I think if we can somehow pull off a big trade for him, we've got a superbowl team.  But how much is he worth?  The Cardinals will obviously ask for a ton in return, and since we've already given up some first round picks, it will be especially tough for us to get him.  We would more than likely have to give up Urlacher of Forte, if not both.  Would it be worth it?
