According to MLB Trade Rumors, the A's have designated Tommy Everidge for assignment to make room for Jack Cust. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/01/as-dfa-tommy-everidge.html. Tommy was beginning to hit well in the Oakland system over the last two seasons, putting up a total of 44 HRs and 216 RBI during that span. According to CHONE, his projections for 2010 show him hitting 13 HRs and driving in 61 runs. Doesn't sound too terrible based on a modest sample size, however he seems to be relegated to DH duty, and would be limited strictly to first base in the field. Still, if he continues to develop his power and proves to be a late bloomer, I'm sure he'll catch on with another team looking to fill a DH or temporary 1B job. Good luck to you, Tommy Everidge!
