The SB Nation "Conference Redraft" is a joke--and has been from the start.

18
  1. No Big 12 representative.
  2. No regional restrictions.
  3. Boise State "drafted" before KSU.
  4. Hawaii "drafted" before KSU.
  5. Did I mention, no Big 12 representative?

``I’m done depending on him," Martin said. ``For three years we’ve been trying to get him to be more consistent, more mature – and he hasn’t done it." ``If he’s right, he’s right," he added. ``If not, we’ve got other guys in place."

Frank Martin, on Jamar Samuels. I thought this was spot on from Frank, and deserved it's own discussion.

Self happens to land prized recruit, Kevin Young, who had previously signed with San Diego State.

28

Steve Fisher is less than pleased with the ethics of both the kid and Self--though he's still "very fond of" both. And by "very fond of", he most likely means "thinks that both are unethical a-holes." I, of course, would never question the integrity of such a model program. They would never challenge ethical boundaries in pursuit of a recruit that would have otherwise gone elsewhere. In related news, I own a piece of property in southern Riley county that I would like to put up for sale. It has some great views of the ocean.

Curtis Kitchen's take on 810/Keitzman is brilliant.

16

How did 810 let Kitchen get away? This piece is long, but well worth the read.

Will Spradling was named MVP after he scored 16 points in leading the Athletes In Action team to a championship game win over Poland. Bob and Brent were impressed.

USC might be stripped of '04 title.

How long until similar stories are written about Auburn? An Ohio State?

Paul Splittorff has died. Sports has lost a great voice, but even more, the world has lost a great man. The Royals have put together a montage of Splitt's career, both as a player and a broadcaster.

A Confession (and Question) About Sabermetrics

I have to come clean here. I've spent the last year or so reading this board, and the about the last 8-9 months posting intermittently -- particularly on game days -- on it. I like LSB almost as...

Bin Laden is dead!!!

Normally wouldn't post political stuff, but this is just too awesome not to post. Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, or Independent, this is historic news.

BatCats face a veritable must-win game today

1

The Cats were embarrassed in the first two games of their weekend road series against Oklahoma State, by a combined score of 19-4. They face what shapes up as potentially a must-win game today (if weather permits), if they want to have much of a case for an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. Currently, the team's record stands at 26-17 (8-12, BIg 12).

Jason King thinks K-State will finish in the bottom half of the Big 12 in basketball next year.

19

I think there's going to be a lot of this kind of thing in the next 6 months. And I also think that Frank's guys are going to play with a chip on their shoulders, and challenge for a Big 12 championship. In other words, "Suck it, Jason King!"

Carson Coffman is awesome. I mean it.

13
Chris Harper (during the KU/VCU game): I kinda want KU to win because their from Kansas, honestly. Carson Coffman: ur gay. Carson, I apologize for any and all criticism I leveled at you this past season. That response TOTALLY made up for any bounce passes and/or slightly slow sweeps from this past year. Totally. (Note: Still love me some C-Harp. Just SERIOUSLY questioning his judgment as a fan!)

This is good stuff. The room where you're sitting might get a little "dusty" as you read it. Hopefully Mobdeep will get that video tribute back up soon, but this article is a wonderful tribute to Jake as well. The kid has a wonderful family.

[W]hen everyone in this room questioned me getting hired, he stayed true to his commitment and said, No, man, I'm coming to play for you. Four years later we're in the NCAA three times, made an Elite 8 run. He is the scoring leader in the history of K-State. Been to postseason all four years. Go back in the history books and see what the last time K-State went to the postseason four straight years, to the NCAA's three and four years. It's all because of him. You know, you can coach a long time and never come across another one like him, you know. I'm lucky. God's been good to me, man. I've always been around good players and good players that are better people. And he's first-class. First day, from the first day he walked on campus to when he walks for his degree here in about a month.

Frank Martin, during his post-game presser, when asked what Jacob Pullen means to him.

Bailey's BOTCetology (FINAL)

88

After being utterly mystified with the machinations by Lunardi, Palm, et al in the construction of their brackets, I have put together some BOTC "bracketology."
