latest on peavy...

as most people of im sure have already seen via mlbtr, joel sherman of the ny post has the latest on the peavy rumors...

"Joel Sherman of the New York Post talked to several executives.  They expect Peavy will be traded to the Braves for Tommy Hanson, Jordan Schafer, and one of Kelly Johnson/Yunel Escobar."

i dont know about anyone else but i hate this trade, i can live without schafer but im against giving up hanson all together and to pair him with schafer and kelly or escobar, i think would be a disaster. I really hope Wren has enough sense not to make this deal.

The braves right now couldnt fill the hole left by the departure of kelly or escobar with prado, lillibridge, or even khalil greene. if the braves could get the padres to take hanson, schafer, and one of prado or lillibridge i could accept it much easier.

bullpen help?

a lot of talk has been made recently about the braves looking to acquire a corner outfield bat. while i do think the braves could use another bat, im also looking for bullpen help. with moylan and smoltz on the shelf and the uncertainty of soriano's health. i think if the braves are going to even think about contending this year they need to get a reliable setup man, because im getting fed up with watching manny acosta come in and again and again blow tight games. anyway im thinking brian fuentes. With the rockies struggling as badly as they are right now, theyll probably be looking to sell at the deadline and we've heard fuentes name in possible trade talks for what seems like years now and despite his struggles last night (asshole killed my fantasy team), i think hed fit in quite nicely setting up gonzalez in the eighth.

speaking of impact bats, i dont know if anyone saw it there was a good read on mlbtraderumors the other day making a case for the braves to acquire barry bonds, now while i still think the deepest darkest corner of hell is reserved for bonds it was an interesting thought although im not a big fan of the guy's projected lineup...heres the link

unearned runs

okay, maybe im stupid for wondering this. but whatever i dont care. Could someone explain to me how brandon webb gave up 7 runs but only 4 were earned?

heres what i got...

Norton and blanco were on first and second with no one out in the bottom of the second. JJ lays down the sac bunt, but because reynolds goes to third, its a fielders choice. Now while the decision for reynolds to go to third was stupid, it was not the error, the error was him throwing the ball away and allowing norton to score and blanco and jurrjens to advance. BUT, from what i saw, even if reynolds doesnt throw the ball away norton is still gonna be safe at third which would make it bases loaded with 0 outs. then the rest of the inning is the same. Yunel and Kelly still strike out, chipper walks which would then score norton from third and then the base hit from teixiera scores blanco and jurrjens and the braves still put up a 3 spot in the inning regardless of the reynolds error.

If someone could please explain to me what i missed or how its only 4 earned i would really appreciate it.
