Daily Norseman Where's the love?

I tried posting this as a fanshot, but it didn't like the url for some reason so I decided to post it here for anyone who cares what the "experts" predict for this coming season.  For some reason I can't put a finger on it is fashionable to hate on our Vikes and I hope crushing the Saints this Thursday will shut some of these naysayers dirty mouths.  SKOL!!!!!

Daily Norseman Not bashing, just asking...

if anyone else heard something about Chili wanting to bench Brett in the 3rd quarter? This loss cannot be placed entirely on Favre's shoulders. His receivers couldn't hold on to the ball and he was being terrorized by Peppers for most of the night (don't know why they didn't send Saucer over to help out). My question is why would Chili come out and say this after the fact? He is the head coach and if he felt Tarvaris or Sage could add a spark than why didn't he just go ahead and bench Brett? Not saying I would have agreed with this, but it seems like he is doing more harm than good by coming out and saying this now. What do you all think? The guy is supposedly a psyche major or something and maybe he said this to try and light a fire under the whole team?

Daily Norseman Vikes OL & Run game

I'm not panicking, but maybe I'm reading too much into it.  OK, now that I've hopefully cleared that up I want to know what people think of our offensive line and running game.  We've got two new guys starting on our line, one a rookie.  Last year opposing defenses geared up to stop AP and for the most part he made them pay.  This year opposing defenses are doing the same (with the exception of the AZ Cardinals who seemed to gameplan against stopping Favre and our passing game).  AP isn't having the success that he did last year.  Is it because we really miss Birk and Ryan Cook?  Now I know Cook got lots of penalties, but Big Phil seems to get his fair share as well.  Maybe we've started going away from what has worked in the past because we finally have a QB who can get the job done consistantly.  Maybe AD's banged up?  What do you all think is the problem?  Unless you don't believe there is one and if that's the case let me know why?

Daily Norseman Bobby Wade cut

and replaced by former Eagles WR (surprised?) Greg Lewis.  I guess restructuring his contract just wasn't enough.  He was our leading receiver the last couple years and was also a good downfield blocker.  I don't think he will be missed that much though.  Here is the link for you all.  I'm not quite to the minimun word requirement so please forgive me for saying....SKOL VIKINGS! SKOL VIKINGS! HOOOOORAYYYYYYYY!

Daily Norseman The points made in the article I'm about to link to should not be overlooked.

This is from Ross Tucker of SI.

While I'm hoping this hasn't totally divided the locker room and that our players can somehow overlook this in order to have a succesful season.  Should Brett get injured Chili will have to turn to one of the QB's he mislead.  I believe the Vikes really mismanaged this whole Brett Favre thing and hope it doesn't come back to bite us in the ass.  We've gone thru enough as fans and this just feels (to me) like another bring us up to let us down type of thing.  I really hope I'm wrong.  SKOL!!!!!!!!

Daily Norseman MN Sports Fan

I've been a MN Sports Fan all 29 (soon to be 30) years of my life.  Football being my favorite sport with hockey coming in at a very close second.  I've seen my North Stars go win a championship for Dallas of all cities.  The Twins are the only team to bring MN back a trophy.  I figure if I can still cheer for the T-Wolves who've done absolutely nothing besides making it to the Western Conference finals the year w/ Spree and Cassell than I can cheer for a Vikings team QB'd by Brett Favre. I didn't want him coming here initially mainly because of the INT's he throws and I thought we were a damn good team without him, but if he can help us win the Super Bowl and mentor our other QB's then I'm all for it.  Winning a SB is hard enough as it is, but I'd hope if we he does help lead us to a Super Bowl victory this year he'll come back next year to try and win another.  Yeah, I know how hard it is to win a SB let alone back to back ones, but how sweet would it be to tell Packer fans that he won more here in 2 years than his whole career there. I think this is the most talented team he has ever been a part of. So with all that being said, GO VIKES! GO BRETT FAVRE!!!!!!!

Daily Norseman BJ Raji

Has not signed yet and hopefully won't. :D  He is a big part of GB's transition to the 3-4 and the longer he holds out the better.  I'll post the link as soon as I get a little closer to the seventy five word minimum.  Yada yada yada.  Obviously training camp is important especially for rookies to get those reps with their new teammates. Am I close? We'll see....

Daily Norseman Not surprising but.....

...according to Aundrae Allisons agent Drew Rosenhaus the Vikes have informed him that they will be waiving him by 5 p.m. tonight if they can't trade him which I doubt they'll be able to. So that leaves us with Berrian, Rice, Wade, Harvin, Johnson and Reynaud. Do we keep all 6 on the 53 man roster or try to sneak one on the practice squad? I think all will make the final roster.

Daily Norseman Judd and Chip from AV on Twitter....

....with live updates from Vikes first practice. Pretty up to date and interesting stuff. I hope I don't get in trouble for posting this link because I don't want to direct people away from the great site that is DN, but here you go. I wish I could be there, but instead I'm stuck in the basement of my work. Oh, well it's Friday at least.

Daily Norseman Come on fine people of Minnesota!

Thanks to kdog69, Elgar and others for letting it be known that the Vikes aren't a lock to stay here. There's not a lot of time! I know when Zygi bought the team he stated he had no plans to relocate, but he is a business man and I can't see him continue to take a hit in the pocketbook for much longer. We need to get something organized to let our reps know how serious we are in keeping the Vikes in MN where they belong. We need to let them know they will not be re-elected if they don't start voicing OUR opinions on getting something done about our stadium situation. Hopefully Elgar won't mind me re-posting this down right SCARY link he posted.

THIS IS FOR REAL FOLKS!

I'm not the best at organization so hopefully someone will help get the info out on the best way to go about this.

Daily Norseman Some funny pics.

Some maybe not so funny. Just thought I'd provide this link for your viewing pleasure. I'm starting to accept that him coming to the Vikes is likely to happen. I'm just not sure how it's going to go. I have this terrible feeling of impending doom inside of me and I want it to go away. Oh, well, what can I say I'm a Vikes fan!

Daily Norseman TJ/Chili relationship

Do you think there is some tension between these two? Chili surprised everyone by moving up in the 2nd round to draft this young, raw QB from a small school and then threw him to the wolves earlier than anyone expected. I don't neccesarily feel bad for TJ because he's playing a game for millions of dollars, but how would you feel if your boss told you that you were the man, but then constantly slaps you in the face by benching you for old has beens? I don't think Chili ever had complete faith in TJ and it was evidenced in the plays he ran for him. How can he be expected to succeed with such predictable play calling? Could TJ not handle the full playbook? I'm curious as to what others thoughts are about this. So let me know.
