Push For Bryan Bulaga, 5th Overall Pick
I'm not sure how the offensive line would shape up. But Pioli has the opportunity to possibly improve three positions with the 5th overall pick. What I do know is that we have a young QB, Cassel, signed to a huge contract. A young stud at RB in Jamaal Charles. Chris Chambers signed to a three year deal. And now RB Thomas Jones signed to a two year deal. The smart thing for Pioli to do would be to buy protection for his big investments to help this team succeed.

Posted is a link of game film for Bryan Bulaga. The first thing that jumped out at me was his strength. He never gets pushed back or man handled. A physical player who holds his blocks well. Great in the running game.

Reasoning for OT Bulaga:
This pick makes the most sense to me because of the investments at the quarterback and running back position. He helped led his Hawkeyes to the 2009 orange bowl and an 11-2 record. Pioli has a connection to this player through Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz, he's also a Belicheck guy and was a potential candidate for the Head Coaching job when Pioli was first hired as the GM.
Russell Okung's stock is rising. Lions and Redskins have a strong need for a franchise LT.
Brendan Albert was the top rated interior lineman coming out of the draft in 2008. Hasn't had a big impact starting at LT, I think could return to form at his accustomed position LG. I've seen talk about moving him to RT, but with Waters getting older and O'Callaghan having done a good job on a spotty line in 2009 I think it makes better sense to move Albert to LG and Waters over to RG. Would result in improved play at the LT and both G positions.
In 2009, Pioli passed on Aaron Curry for Tyson Jackson. In 2010, Rolando McClain out of the picture?
Although I think the opportunity will present itself with a player falling to the Chiefs at #5, I don't believe Pioli will make a trade down. Going back to the 2009 draft, Pioli took Tyson Jackson with the 3rd overall pick, he had an opportunity to trade down there.
That being said my guess as to how the rest of the Chiefs draft would go:
1-OT Bryan Bulaga
2-OLB
2-NT
3-C
4-S
Crimson Tide LB back in KC (mock draft)
Problems from the 2009 Season
-Offensive Coordinator
-Safety
-Linebacker
-Guard, Center
-NT
-Wide Receiver
-Tight End
Showing 1 - 2 of 2
