FIBA to adopt NBA rules

We discussed the merits of FIBA vs. NBA rules a few months ago and came to a few good insights (see this post). It seems the FIBA Technical Commission agrees with our great minds at BSoS (this abbreviation's for you, pstan). In watching the "Redeem Team" smack down Andrew Bogut's bum ankle and the rest of the Aussie squad, Doug Collins mentioned some rule changes.

It seems that the key is being changed to that of the NBA rectangle style with a restricted area below the basket. Collins stated that the size/shape change was mostly because of the 3-second violations being more common with the trapazoidal key.

The goaltending rule is being tightened up a little bit, but you will still be able to swat the ball away when over the cylinder.

The 3-point line will be scooted back to change strategy, making distance shooters more valuable.

Also of curious note is the 24-second shot clock. From the linked website:

"If the throw-in is to be administered in the frontcourt, if required by the respective rules, the 24-second device shall be reset as follows:

- If 14 seconds or more are displayed on the 24-second device at the time the game was stopped, the 24-second device shall not be reset and shall remain the same.

- If 13 seconds or less are displayed on the 24-second device at the time the game was stopped, the 24-second device shall be reset to 14 seconds. "

NO Hornets free agent Pargo signs with Moscow Dynamo. So, the good news is he didn't sign with the Spurs!! Man, lots of solid role players heading over seas.... wonder what the NBA benches will look like before long?

Looks like the guys over at Blog a Bull are really hot on Coach D. Not sure if it's because he is like the anti-Skiles or what. Personally, I'd hate to loose him. His brand of basketball is refreshing. Not to mention, I have rarely watched a team where following a time out, in a critical situation, I consistently thought we had a fantastic shot coming our way. He draws up some very effective plays (occaisonal execution problems aside)!

Favorite In-game Suns Moments

So, with a bit of the nostalgia that was brought up about Ceballos and Dumas in another thread, I thought I'd post one of my favorite in game moments. The first one that came to mind was Kevin Johnson's dunk over Hakeem Olajuwan.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifx_gRF-ouU

Then I came accross this one, too. It was pretty good. I love how he rides Williams down, lol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqoSdFdVlzo

and poor 7'4" Mark Eaton. HA!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAEoMsHHfa4

Anyhow, enjoy! And feel free to post some of your favorites, too (video not necessary)
