I work in the oil and gas industry. Jack of all trades and master of none. I ride my motorcycle entirely too much. I'm a member of the Brotherhood of the 74, you can google that if you like.
I drink my fair share, but in moderation. I enjoy good scotch and fine cigars, but I also drink my fair share of Mexican Beer and smoke cheap cigarettes.
I've played guitar for about 18 years and enjoy the heck out of it. Anything from Blues to Metal. Not much in between.

Investigative Reporting - D Magazine & Craig James
Not trying to beat a dead horse, but this is absolutely hilarious!
What's going on in LBK right now?
Apparently there is a hostage situation on the corner of 82nd & Quaker at Citibank. Anybody in the area is advised to stay away from the scene. The roads in the area are shut down and the Lubbock SWAT Team has been deployed.
OT Post - Whataburger Ketchup
I'm sure this isn't what you expected to read on DTN, but I didn't feel that I could reach enough people on Facebook to spread the good news. While I'll try and cover some football in this post, I can't promise I'll cover much. What transpired the last two hours is a somewhat a story of gluttony and passion. I love Whataburger Ketchup. Some would call it a borderline relationship based on insanity. I have a Whataburger Ketchup shirt with the recipe on it. I really love the stuff.
Big News after the jump...
New Team, for me anyway...
Fellow Flames Fans,
Can I call you folks that? Anyway, I've recently fallen back in love with Hockey attending a few Flames Games. No, I'm not a resident of Calgary or Canada for that matter. This is where the story has the potential to get interesting.
Hal Mumme speaks about Coach Leach and Wizzou
"Mumme, asked about the saga, says, "Craig James is an (expletive), and everybody in Texas knows it. His son's an (expletive), and you can quote me. I was at New Mexico State, and we turned (Adam) down. Nobody would give that guy a scholarship except Mike Leach."

That's a big NO-NO!!
I'm starting the "Send Mizzou Packing" campaign a week early. This player has got to be outside his mind.
Adios Mizzou!
NFL and Spread Offense QB's
Chris Brown makes some excellent points about Spread Offense QB's in the NFL. The scouts are taking notice to what the coaches already know.
Buddy Ryan's Polish Goal Line Tactic
Innovative doesn't begin to describe Buddy Ryan or his offspring when it comes to football. This is a pretty good read. Check it out.
The Science Of Arrogance
A study conducted by The University of Texas. The only reason that I'm posting this is because I think the timing is hilarious. It was published in February 2010, which can stem back to a lot of things.

Harrell and the Green Bay Packers
An excellent writeup on Harrell from last month. I didn't see this particular article listed on DTN, so forgive me if it was already posted.
Our boy is destined for great things.
A look at the Big 12 and "This is How We Play"
Redone by widerightnattylight - an Iowa State Blog.
This is hilarious. Enjoy!
Mike Leach Book Signing in Midland 8/16/11
Just an FYI for those of you in the area. The book signing is at 7:00 PM at the Barnes and Noble in Midland. Hope to see you there.
Smart Football's Chris Brown does a book report.
Worth your time to read, especially if you've already read the book. The comment section makes it that much more fun.
I apologize if this has already been posted, I couldn't find it anywhere.
OT - Person of Interest, Armon M. Sweat, Jr.
Like many other people, I have an interest in Texas History. I also, like many other people enjoy a good drink every once in a while / as often as possible.
This doesn't have much to do with Texas Tech Football or any other part of the University, but it does make for good discussion among members of this blogging community.
More after the jump.
The Ballad of Neal Brown
More great stuff from Bill Connelly concerning Texas Tech and nerd stats (which I'm just now getting into).
Fun With ESPNU Logo's via EDSBS
Hilarious take on some of the schools. The Texas Tech one sums it up for most of us. It's kind of crude, but true.
Enjoy!
The Haters Prayer via Battle Red Blog
I thought most Packers fans like myself would enjoy this.

Cam Newton Wonderlic Prediction Thread via EDSBS
Laughter and lots of it. Some of these predictions are hilarious.

Great hire. Just a great hire. On to the list!!
Defense - Or we ain't got none.......
I don't know about the rest of the fanbase, but I'm glad this dumpster fire of a season is finally over. Sure we had some high points, but we continuosly tripped over the barstool in front of the pretty girl, always looking like a drunk idiot. We can discuss the offense later on. But right now I'd like to dive into the defense / that thing we didn't have / we suck at.
Having a coach like Tuberville at the helm had me a little excited about the defense going into the 2010 season. One would think that a defensive minded coach like him would field a pretty good defense. I couldn't have been more wrong. Willis failed to field anything worth not screaming about. As far as the rest of the defensive coaches..... well you saw what happened all year. We landed damn near last as far as defenses are concerned. We sucked, plain and simple.
Alas, we've been given a fresh chance to start over and try something else. With the departure of James Willis to nowhere and DB Coach Travaris Robinson to Florida, we have some shoes to fill. Hell, we've obviously had some shoes to fill since they were here. They're gone and I'll leave it at that.

Here we go. Ordering my Terp stuff when I get home.
University of Texas Job Opening Application via Barking Carnival
Seriously a must read. ScipioTex did an outstanding job. It's hilarious.
TCU to Big East?
Could it be? This would really shake things up as far as conferences go. Give it a read and let us know what you think.
Iowa State Week - Let's get this going.......
I posted this before, but it was back in April sometime. Now it becomes relevant. Enjoy!!
Alright, I'm sold
I've tried for years to compare my brand of college football to the likes of the NFL. It hasn't been easy. You see, I'm a Big 12 guy, and to make it worse Texas Tech is my team and my alumni. I grew up an Oilers fan and a Cowboys fan in Beaumont and Midland Texas. The Oilers are gone and Dallas sunk into the funk they are in. I wasn't really interested after that.
Enter Mike Leach at Texas Tech. We throw the ball, a lot. I enjoy this. In fact, I enjoy it so much it becomes a problem. I've had the worst time adjusting to the fact that Leach is no longer apart of Tech. And with the past 3 games, I've noticed this even more. We as fans have watched a brand of football that is exciting and requires a defribulator in all house holds. I haven't seen the likes of this in the NFL until I sat on my couch today and decided to sit through a Texans game.

Deep. Fried. Beer.
What else do I need to say? What could I possibly put here to overcome the title of this FanShot? Nothing.
It's Fried Beer. You are allowed to cry. God Bless America and the State Of Texas.
I didn't see this one until now. Very good work. Wreck Em TECH!!
Post Game Thoughts / Write Ups Go Here
Alright, I'll admit that I've seen way worse openers out of Tech before. Waaaaay worse. It really wasn't that bad of an opener to begin with. I've compiled a list of thoughts and curse words for us to mull over. I'd like to NOT compare Tuberville to Leach at this point. I realize Leach wouldn't have let off the gas and kept his foot on their collective throats, but that doesn't seem to be Tuberville's style.

Brandon Carter making a name for himself in the Big Easy
I'm having a hard time with this. I always thought of Carter as an intense player, but the scuffles he's engaging in lead me to believe that he might have been a problem child while on campus. Then again, I could be wrong.
I'm glad he's working out and playing, even if that does involve gaining respect the hard way.
To appease the Football Gods.....
With our string of injuries between the Spring and now, the call on our starting QB, the James fiasco, Leach's departure, and everything else that has gone horribly wrong in the last 8-9 months, I've come to a conclusion.
We've pissed of Lady Karma and she is terribly angry with us / you. (Feel guilty)
I'm borrowing this bit from Bill C. at Rock M Nation, who borrowed it from Roll Bama Roll. Read this as soon as you can, if you have ample time, because it will take a while.

After reading this post, it makes perfect sense. We need to fess up to a few things to make the Football Gods happy. Don't hold back at all. Let it all out. Hell, cry if you want to. I don't care if your husband / wife or girlfriend / boyfriend reads this blog. Let it go!
