New York MMA is an enthralling documentary that provides a back seat view of the grass roots struggle to legalize and regulate the professional sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) in New York State.

New York is one of a handful of states in which MMA is still outlawed; sacrificing jobs and millions of dollars in revenue to neighboring states and countries since 1997.

The film presents an intimate account of the struggle to legalize MMA through the lens of one amateur fighter's (Bradley Desir) quest to turn professional under the guidance of his coach (Stephen Koepfer). Viewers are offered a rare glimpse behind the curtain of the political, sometimes frightening, and always exciting world of mixed martial arts.

Trailer for an upcoming short film for the World Grand Prix Heavyweight Tournament 2011- First Round. Held in the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, NJ. The film will take a behind the scenes look at the production of the GP, the expo held in NYC and views from some of of the fighters and trainers involved. The M-1 Selection Americas tournament held its Finals on September 18, 2010. This pitted the talented up and coming stars against one another to make for an explosive event. This film reel gives a look behind the scenes as well as covering the bouts that made up the Finals tournament that night.

The event was pretty damn good and had some great young and experienced fighters. New York MMA is a web docu series dedicated to educating and giving exposure to the schools, gyms and teachers who make up the DNA of martial arts within New York State.

 

The purpose is to introduce the culture at its very core in a way where everyone can understand the competitors and the threads that make up the sport. This journey will take us to various camps and competitions throughout New York City and New York State. In addition, it will begin to touch on the points of why the legalization of the sport continues to be stifled and the reasoning behind it.

Hey guys. Sorry it took so long to finally join up here, but I was waiting for my account to activate.
Hopefully some of you are familiar with me from my previous work Armour of Invincibility- the 3 part highlight series on Georges St. Pierre.

Recently I've been shooting a lot and just started some new work. Here's something that was just finished :-)
Right now I'm shooting a mult-part documentary series called NY MMA, containing a lot of info on martial arts gyms throughout the city and state that play their part in the make up of the sport.
