Thigpen reaction to trade article

Hey guys,

First post here. Cards fan and I live in Coastal Carolina country, so I've been a Tyler Thigpen fan for a long time. Happy to see him traded to a team that respects his abilities and skill set and use them to its fullest. Hope he gets some playing time this season to see what he can do for this team. Not wishing anything bad to Henne or White of course.

Tyler gets a lot of coverage in the local newspaper thanks to his Coastal Carolina ties. Here's an article from our local paper The SunNews about him which has some reaction from him and his agent about the trade: (apologies if this has been posted already)

Great Humorous NFL site

First off apologies if I break a rule of the blog when posting this site here, New here, so please inform me. :) If you are looking for a site to brighten your day after the latest bit of Chiefs bad news, I'd like to recommend Pro Football, in Cartoons.

http://profootballcartoons.com/

This guy got his start a few seasons back on a football gaming board I hang out on, and then fairly recently created his own website for it. It takes a humorous look at some of the more (and sometimes less) noteworthy stories from the NFL each week. Every team gets covered somewhere along the way, just depends on what happens that week. The Chiefs get featured in the Week 10, Part 3 thread over the 2 pt conversion that failed against SD.

He's posted all of this year's cartoons and the tail end of last year's on the site, so there are many chuckles and laughs to be had if you want to go back and read them all.

I was a Tyler Thigpen fan before any of you. :)

Hey there,

New poster here. Live 20 mins from Coastal Carolina, so it was pretty big news here when Coastal announced they would be starting a football program about six years ago. Pretty incredible how quickly they grew into a power in the Big South, missing the national playoffs one season because of a bizarre botched play in their last game of the season, then making it the next.

So I've been a fan of Thigpen for a while now, and I'm thrilled to see him and others make it to the NFL I'm betting the Vikings are wishing they didn't try to sneak Thigpen onto their practice roster given they are relying on Gus Frerrote right now. :)  Thrilled to see other Chanticleers in the NFL-was pretty stunned when the Bengals took WR Jerome Simpson in the second round this year. Too bad that's not working out right now. They took him as insurance I think in case they traded Chad Johnson, and took another WR in the draft. Has been inactive for most games, but when he finally got into one, he got injured on his first catch I think. :(

But I digress. I like Tyler a lot, like that he's mobile with a strong arm, but I thought it would be a long term project with him to get him to where he could be a serviceable backup/gadget QB. Thought the NFL level of the game would be too much for him. Quite frankly the stats from the game against Atlanta didn't surprise me at all.

So I have to say these last three games have been a surprise to me. I thought the game against Tampa was going to be particularly ugly. His numbers were down the game, but no INT's in these three games have to be pretty stunning to just about everyone.

It's been pretty funny to read this blog over the past few weeks, seeing the near hatred and disgust for Thigpen suddenly turn into love, joy, and hope. I caution you, its only three games. He's likely to have more bad games before the end of the season. And next season should he make it through to be the starter next season. So I think people annointing him at the QB of the future for the Chiefs need to take a deep breath and see how he finishes the season off at least.

Believe me though I understand the frustration and futilty you Chiefs fans have been going through-I'm a Cardinals fan since their St. Louis days so I know all about futility. :)  But I'm thrilled for Tyler and really do hope he can continue his good play for the Chiefs.
