Bob Gretz is reporting the Chiefs have FINALLY put old man Edwards on the IR. I'm baffled as to why it took this long, I've felt we should have put him along with Surtain on the IR moons ago. In my opinion it was a waste of two roster spots and salaries this year but I know these are the veteran 'leaders' management wanted to keep on to help the youth. For Edwards I'm sure this is the end of his playing career, at least as a Chief and I wouldn't be surprised to see him retire after the season. His roster spot was filled by DT Derek Lokey who was on the active roster earlier this season after TJ Jackson went to the IR...

In unrelated news, I read in the comment sections that the Rams lifted Antwon Burton off our practice squad. This now leaves us with two open spots on the practice squad.

We already have a ton load of salary space and if we ditch Edwards & Surtain, does anybody know how much more room we'll have?

I'm excited for the offseason and the approaching draft. Been looking forward to since Week 1 ; ^ ) (joking...........kinda)

Earlier this year I was asking about his performances last season because I could hardly bare to watch. With the all the LB trouble we've had and Pat Thomas' lackluster play, I certainly thought he couldn't be any worse. Then we cut Nap Harris who was our leading tackler and replaced him with who? I've always considered the Giants good evaluators of talent and needless to say it raises eyebrows whenever they sign are castoffs (Sammy Knight excluded). I hope now that we've begun cleaning house this too signals the end for Gunther and that he can then starting eating regularly...

I liked what very little I saw of Nate last season and would rather have him and Nap filling our MLB spots than "Its Pat" Thomas and.......Derrick Johnson? I know neither are long term solutions to are problems but if we had them playing and Babin @ RE & Hali @ LE all season I think our defense wouldn't have been as atrocious as it was.

Anywho, thought it was an interesting signing I'd bring to the communities attention.

Biggest Comeback in Chiefs History?

Hello AP Faithful,

I come to you all in hopes of finding out more about Chiefs history. As a youth my Pops took to me to alot of games in Arrowhead. A particular game that stands out in my head yet I have zero recollection over is the largest comeback in Chiefs history. I don't remember when it was, who we were playing, but it had to be the start of the 90s. We were getting blown out badly to such an extent I think Arrowhead started emptying at the start of the 3rd quarter. What I remember most vividly about the game was the walk back to the parking lot. The closer we got to the car we kept hearing loud cheers pour out of the stadium but regardless of what happened everyone considered it a futile effort. I remember waking up the next morning and on the breakfast table and front page of Topeka-Capital Journal was Chiefs largest comeback in teams history. I figured since it was such a historic game it wouldn't be hard to find the details/stats for the game but I've been unable to locate anything. So anyone with an idea or info feel free to respond so I can learn more about that game

Thanks in advance

Was just reading at Bob's that Turk McBride and possibly Brian Johnston are heading to the Injured Reserve. This spells horrible news for our defense as McBride was the most improved player on defense this year(in my opinion) and after watching Johnston's aggressiveness yesterday I think his comparison's to Jarden Allen don't seem so far-fetched

I have to say comparatively by yesterdays performance alone Johnston appears to be twice the RE Gillberry is. I know he's a undrafted rookie free agent that was signed just a week ago and still needs to learn the system, but Wallace looked like nothing more than a warm body yesterday. As for Johnston he is a steal for a 7th rounder and I'd venture to state he'll earn himself a starting job in the future

Here is the link: http://www.bobgretz.com/chiefs-football/chiefs-update-1110.html

Interested to see what new players will be wearing a Chiefs jersey next week

I don't have cable and no longer live in the Midwest so I miss out on all the Big 12 action. I've been scouting the incoming draft class and one name I keep reading about is Baylor OT Jason Smith. Are there any Chiefs fans in Texas who watch him perform or are familiar with him? He is ranked as the 4th OT in the class behind Oher, Monroe, and Alabama's Andre Smith and unlike the 3 has experience playing on the right side. Apparently he was a TE as a freshmen who they converted to T because of his great blocking ability and size. It's looking like we'll have the 3rd or 4th pick next year in which case it's likely he'll still be on the board top of Round 2. The fact he's "homegrown" outta the Big 12 makes him more appealing and all together appears to be one of if not the top RT prospect in his class. If we could pick up say Maualuga 1st round, Jason Smith 2nd, and a QB 3rd round - then I'd say we have a great start to building a future in KC

Interested to learn what anyone else has seen or heard about him. Hoping there's some Baylor fans out there. GOO CHIEFS!

Tamba Hawk

My favorite part of yesterday's game was watching Tamba Hali show up. I've been worried about him and his development all season long, so settling into the bar yesterday I began watching our defensive line only to notice #91 missing on the right side. I scanned over and saw him lining up on the left and thought, "It couldn't be!" Could the brainiacs at Arrowhead Drive actually attempt to change something thats not working? The tv's at the bar don't have audio so I'm still in some disbelief. Did the commentators or any reporters after the game make mention of the move and can we expect to see Tamba permanently back to his old position? Or was this a one game plan?

Tamba has proven to me he's a natural LE, where he performs best and most consistently. Lots of people were beginning to throw the "B" word at him with his struggles in adapting to the right side, but its evident to me he was simply cut out to play left end. Personally, I don't want to see anybody else start that position forseeably for the next 8 years because Tamba's our man. In my opinion we have our franchise defensive end, he just plays on the left side and we've forgotten about him.....................................................his name is Tamba Hali

I know he didn't play fantastic yesterday, but he played well and even before he recorded his sack I was admiring his pressure. Watching him he seemed smooth and in control, whereas games previously on the right side he seemed stifled. I find it no coincidence the same game he returns to his natural position he records his first sack of the season. I only wonder if he started the first 5 games on the left how much more pressure we'd be applying to opponents QB's and accordingly how many more sacks we'd have. Needless to say I hope this experiment with him on the right is over and that he can focus on getting back to the game he knows how to play. I firmly believe he is a member of the 'Core' of this future's team and if allowed to remain on the left I think he will prove it to all of you

So here's to my favorite Chief, his first sack, and the future!

I hate referencing PFT all the time, however, providing this report is true (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/10/15/packers-thought-they-had-a-deal-for-gonzalez/) Tony has no excuse in my candid opinion to bitch or complain about negotiations of his trade. He had the opportunity to go to better teams and help improve the Chiefs franchise by receiving BETTER than a 3rd round pick. I can understand Atlanta, but Buffalo is a contending team for the Super Bowl in my opinion that not only has 1 talented QB but 2! Since Carl allowed him to choose what teams he went to it would unbecoming of Gonzalez to now make an issue of this. Beggers can't be chosers and as many people that try to paint the picture that Carl bungled this I'm more of the opinion Gonzalez should have continued to be the man he is and hung tight

I don't know about y'all, but for a second rounder in next years draft I would have kissed Tony's sweet ass goodbye ; ^ )

If Adam Schefter reports it - then we know it's true. However I've been unable to find further reports confirming this news

Evidently he's so washed up we couldn't even get a 6th or 7th rounder for him. Another great veteran contract brought to you by the King, Carl Peterson.

In the name of rebuilding, hopefully this is the last "Kendrell Bell" contract we ever give out

In a move that appears similar to the one made by the New Orleans Saints w/ Joey Harrington last week, the Tennessee Titans have cut QB Chris Simms from their roster. I came across the news at PFT which can be read about here: http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/10/04/titans-release-of-simms-raises-eyebrows/

It was reported the Chiefs were originally interested in signing Simms but he chose to sign with the Titans instead. It seems likely he will return their but personally I would like to see KC make one last move at him...
