In an effort to prove that Daniel Murphy has the side-to-side mobility required to be an everyday second baseman even after his injury, I present you with exhibit A. Just look at that range to both sides! As before, animation in the comments section.
Here is my next installment of players who needed their own .gifs. While i'll probably never top the Dickey gif I posted last week, I hope you'll enjoy this one as well, as it seemed to be begging to be made.
Had to do one more of these things, this one took forever, but I'm quite happy with the product. As with the previous animated picture, the .gif will be posted in the comments section.
I've decided to pick up some new skills in my spare time, and someone around here suggested this place was in need of more Mets related animated gifs. here is my first (horrendously) crude attempt at creating one. The main images won't animate, so I'll have the first frame there, and the real animation as a post below.
The name Boof always reminded me of a comic book sound, so this image came to mind. My tribute to our new minor league addition.
Here is my Amazin Ave. Offseason Plan for 2010 (which I spent most of my day planning instead of actually working). This year was certainly challenging given the restraints on how much we could...
The Mets are apparently offering arbitration to Pedro, I kind of hope the Benoit deal makes him decline and try for the open market so we can get a pick for him. He's been great, but that arm can't keep this up forever. On a side note, the Cards picked up Valdes the other day, so our best hitter is now off the market. Going to be a different looking bullpen next year.
Phil finds the Niekronomicon, the ancient book which teaches the dark art of the knuckleball. He figures it's close enough to the right book. My Entry for the Dickey Photoshop Contest Embiggen

Looks like we took a flier on another pitcher out of the Mexican Leagues, this time Yhency Brazoban. Lets see if we can scrapheap ourselves something good.
WHIP master BB-Rod in his cardiac torturing chamber
Welcome to "’Physics’ of Baseball 4: Stealing Directions, Not Signs," another co-authored work by Realmenwearpurple of Purple Row and Keithsmoustache of Amazin’ Ave. In previous...
No perfect game for Galarraga I guess. Selig says he'll look into expanded replay.
A thorough look at David Wright's performance at the plate this season.
Here it is everyone, the long awaited second part to the Post I made this morning. Now that i've set you guys up with a bright cheerful best case scenario, its time to do what Jerry usually does...
Around here we all tend to crack a lot of jokes about how many of our players were good years ago, or had a good season once. I decided to compile data on all of the best seasons each player...
This is a collaborative effort between Realmenwearpurple from Purple Row and Keithsmoustache from Amazin' Avenue. The motivation came from a discussion of the gravitational prowess of Prince...
Reyes talks about how glad he is to be back, how he wants to stay with the Mets for his career, and how he's feeling good and is ready to go.
Added by Eric: I just spent twenty minutes reformatting this thing so I'm bumping it up to the top again. Given all the talk going on these days about what we've missed out on, and how bad our team...
Here is the long awaited part two to my two part series of ridiculously long posts cataloguing what the Mets actually do have after this offseason. This time I take a look at our pitching staff...
It looks like the Mets aren't looking to sign another catcher, figuring Thunder God Santos is close enough to anything out there to not be worth the expenditure. They plan to take the Benji money and spend it on pitchers, which is nice in that theoretical situation where they actually succeed.
"Mets' GM Omar Minaya was never given a budget this offseason. The front office is making recommendations to COO Jeff Wilpon on a case-by-case basis without knowing if they're approaching a payroll limit. It's easy to see how that could become a problem."
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/01/olneys-latest-.htmlFrom MLBTR MLB.com's Bill Ladson spoke with Marquis, who seemed very interested in pitching for the Nationals. Marquis indicated that he likes serving as a mentor for younger pitchers and wants to...
I'm curious to see what everyones opinion would be in this theoretical scenario. Lets say the team that has offered Bay a longer/larger contract is not the Mets bidding against themselves, but...
I really hoped we'd get cameron instead of Bay, it gets closer and closer to inevitable that we overpay him.
big 3 way trade, D-backs are getting hosed on this deal. Looks like Jackson and Granderson aren't trade options for the Mets, not that i held out much hope for Granderson anyway.
As much as I hate to link to a Jayson Stark page, I thought it was interesting that this idea he presents on a salary "basement" where teams have to spend a certain minimum amount is pretty much identical to a conversation we had here a while back. Wonder if he read it.
He's BAAAAACK! and they're talking contract extensions.
Note this is NOT an entry into the AAOP contest. This is just how i envision the actual though process going behind closed doors for the Mets. Left Field: We already have a long term...
