I know all the rumors have been about the straight up Granger for Jefferson swap. Simply put, this just makes no sense for our Pacers.  The Pacers should be very much interested in acquiring the big man, even if it means giving up (gulp) Roy Hibbert. David Kahn, the GM of the T-Wolves, is giving the Pacers and all other teams in the league at acquiring one of the top five or ten low post scorers in the league WHILE HIS VALUE IS AS LOW AS IT EVER WILL BE.

Ideally, T.J Ford, Rush, and our first rounder would be enough to acquire Big Al, but I am thinking Minnesota would not give up Jefferson without getting the cap relief (Ford), a really good first round pick (our first rounder), and an improving  , tangible up and comer in Hibbert. Obviously, the Pacers are unlikely to rid themselves of their first round pick for this season before actually knowing what it is (rarely do teams do such things). If the Pacers are lucky enough to be presented with an offer for Jefferson to be Ford's expiring, Hibbert, and Dahntay Jones, they MUST take it. Combining two all star caliber players in Granger and Jefferson, along with a probable high draft pick (Evan Turner, a less perimeter gifted Brandon Roy) would assure the Pacers of playoffs for years to come. While Jefferson's value is low, you have to go after him relentlessly. Jefferson is still young, a proven scorer, and would immediately become our alpha-dog. In the process, Granger becomes maybe the league's best number 2 where he belongs. Acquiring Jefferson would do wonders for Granger's career, not to mention the Pacers franchise.

Alas though, it appears Minnesota will not part with Jefferson unless they get Granger. And no, the Pacers should not do this deal either. We can still dream though! Any thoughts on Jefferson becoming a Pacer without involving Granger.
