The GWRBI should be

The GWRBI should be awarded to the player who puts his team in the lead for good, not the player who drove in the run which turned out to be the difference maker.

In last night's 6-3 Mets win, Daniel Murphy drove in the run which broke the 0-0 tie in the 1st inning, and the Mets never relinquished that lead. That's your GWRBI, not the 4th run (not driven in) in a 6-3 win.

MLB dropped GWRBI as an official stat since a 1st inning groundout would often qualify. I say that if the score is 0-0 in the 1st inning, the game is on the line, and a GWRBI makes sense. I miss that stat, thanks for reviving it.
