Switching to 3-4 defense?

First time I heard this suggestion was when the great JJ passed away, and it was just wishful thinking back then as they didn't have the personnel to run this scheme. But it's amusing-- Andy...

Eagles should draft Dont'a Hightower with the #15 overall pick

- Luke Keuchly will probably not be available by #15. In any case while Keuchly's "lack of athleticism/size" has been way overhyped I agree with Trotter's assessment that he doesn't have a natural...

Which positional draft "upgrades" are overrated?

I see a lot of people here listing the positions the Birds need to address in this year's draft... Which of these positions shouldn't be considered eligible for immediate upgrade, in your mind? By...

DRC "practices" Friday, might play on Sunday?

4

... So says Sal Pal. More likely, it's just a transparent stunt by Reid to try and alter Belicheck's gameplan. Other sources are saying DRC just kind of stood around at practice even though he suited up. However, if DRC did play, it would be a great evaluating tool for two reasons: - See if he has any heart, playing injured - See if he plays better on the outside rather than the slot. Neither Aso nor Samuel are gonna be benched in favor of DRC when healthy, so this might be our only chance this year to see what DRC can do on the outside.... to see if he can fill in after Samuel departs or if they need to draft another CB early.

Thoughts on future of Eagles' linebacking corps

At the beginning of the season people everywhere were talking about how none of our linebackers have any talent, how we need to draft 3 LBs to start in the first 3 rounds of the 2012 draft, etc....

2012 Offseason- New Philosophy & Personnel Changes

First off props to djackfan, this post is basically made in the image of his more in-depth postseason, post-Reid era pipe dream. I’m basically going to lay out for each side of the ball a picture...

Which of the Eagles' top 3 safeties will not be starting next season?

The Eagles have 3 safeties right now who I think show promise. None of them look like the next Brian Dawkins or Ed Reeds, but I think all of them have the opportunity to develop as quality...

Eagles need to go 8-0 from here to make the playoffs

If you think it's unlikely the Eagles will make a 7-1 run over the second half of the season to make the playoffs, I have news for you : Even a 7-1 run the rest of the way probably won't be good...

Midseason Assessment; Placing the Blame

A lot has been said about which level to place blame for how the Eagles season has gone. Players, coaches, or front office? At the midway point, I think it’s obvious that all three units deserve...

Offensive and Defensive Notes From Eagles-Redskins

Offense - The myth that the Eagles “cannot” run the ball because they have a small offensive line has been demolished when they crammed it down the throats of a very good Redskins defense even when...

Jarrad Page Benched vs. Redskins (thank God); Coleman likely to start; Jaiquawn Jarrett gets first team reps

10

On Wednesday, with Jarrad Page limited during practice with a stinger suffered against the Bills, Jarrett split snaps with second-year pro Kurt Coleman at strong safety. Coleman took the majority of the snaps with the defense and appears to be on track to start against the Redskins. "I’ll leave that to the coaches," Coleman said smiling. "We’ll see." Coleman was patient and it paid off. Jarrett will have to be patient too, because while he took some reps with the first team, he likely won’t be the guy. _________________________________ Notice how they have to pretend Page isn't starting next week because of a "stinger". Apparently when asked about it Page said he felt fine so I guess he didn't get the memo there. Once again we see the arrogance of the coaching staff-- refusing to admit mistakes. The Bears recently announced that BOTH of their starting safeties would be benched this weekend because straight up: they played like shit against the Lions. No pulled punches over there.
