Al Al 2011 = Zoom Zoom 2006?
I just read that Al Al is day to day with inflammation, this being the 2nd time this year he's been hurt. Coupled with his ridiculous numbers this year and how they're almost impossible to maintain, I'm worried we've got Joel Zumaya 2.0 on our hands.
Now don't get it twisted, I like Al and want him to be this good from here on out. He's got closer type stuff, it's just the injuries this year that have me worried due to the strain that slider HAS to put on his arm.
My question I bring to BYB and Tigers fans alike: How would you feel if the Tigers traded Al Al right now? His value is at an all time high and there's no question there's potential for it to go higher. Problem is, there's all the potential in the world to have Tommy John's surgery in a year too.
Report: Johnny Damon might sign with Tigers 'in the next day or two' | Cutoff Man - A Detroit Tigers Blog - MLive.com
A locker has been cleared. Look's like it's going to happen - unless the Tigers plan on signing someone else.
Reds Sign Orlando Cabrera: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
Does this mean Detroit is now, officially, Damon's only option left??
Odds & Ends: Dodgers, Beltre, Morrow: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
According to MLBtraderumors.com, via ESPN MLB Rumors - The Tigers would be one of the teams interested in Adrian Beltre if his price drops.
I'm notorious for being a perpetual Inge "hater" but even I think this is ridiculous. Beltre has shown me nothing to think that for 3-4 million more and a new contract that he would be better suited for the Tigers at 3B than Inge is. I'm kind of hoping this is what it is, just a silly rumor, and DD wouldn't go throwing money at Beltre.
Lowell off to Texas
Which isn't a surprise, but what I find amazing is that Boston is going to pay 9 million of his contract while the Rangers only spend $3 mil on Mike Lowell. Honestly, this is rather incredible to me to see a team eat 75% of a contract. I wonder if this opens the door on the Tigers to eat a lot of, say, Dontrelle's salary and ship him, or even Nate or someone else. 75% is quite a bit though, IMO.
Mark Schlereth in "The Changing of the Hat"
This is hilarious, Mark is on Mike and Mike in the Morning and they do a little ceremony as he changes his allegiance from the D-backs to the Tigers. Pretty comical stuff.
Phil Coke to start?
Sounds like they're going to give him a chance to be the #4 or 5 starter because of his minor league stats and the fact that he's a solid lefty. It makes even more sense to make the trade now if Coke pans out to be a starter instead of reliever. At this point, I'd rather see him start than Robertson.
Phil Nevin new AA Erie Manager
"On Thursday, former Tigers third baseman Phil Nevin was reportedly hired to manage the SeaWolves in 2010. Nevin will succeed Tom Brookens, who was hired in October as first base coach by the Tigers after two seasons as Erie's manager."
Tigers Sign Ruddy Lugo
He pitched for the Mud Hens last year but apparently on ESPN it's worth noting. I know nothing of him to be honest.
