It looks like the Memphis Grizzles have made an offer for Josh Smith.

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap/

Now I remember seeing that the Warriors, Memphis and Atlanta were rumored to be in the mix in a 3-way trade that would send Josh Smith to the Warriors. Does this mean that the Warriors could trade straight up with Memphis for Smith? Memphis does have salary cap room and they have shown extreme interest in Brandon Wright. Do you think a package deal of Harrington and Wright for Smith would work? What do you all think?

Here is the latest word on Kelenna. Will the Dubs make a play for him or are they going to let him walk?? Would it help our cause by doing a sign and trade with Kelenna?

Kelenna Story: http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=9473

Dooling/ Crittenton Story: http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080715/SPORTS/807150321/1002/SPORTS

Another story that I came across has been the ongoing dialog with the Magic and Dooling. Are the Dubs really considering Dooling for our squad?? There are way better options out there. I wish the Dubs would be a little more smarter about who the sign and who they are persuing. Maggette is a fine wing player but you could have spent that money 5yrs/ 50Mil in a different way. We are gonna be on the hook for Ellis and Biedrins for about 50 mill apiece. Why lockdown a tweener player in Maggette for that much? Why not spend it on someone who can dominate a certain posistion? Could we have offered a contract to Okafor? Who else could we have turned to? Smith, Iggy or just hold onto the cash and wait for our unicorn to come?

I'm not sure if the management that we currently have, has the vision that we need. We have seen Mullin pull some good trades but that only works part of the time. To establish yourself as a quality team or franchise, you have to evaluate everything Current salary situation, future salary situation, FA possibilities and possible trades. What direction are we truely heading for??? If all we have to show for it is Maggette, then we are really in for a long long season.

Nellie, strike up that cigar and have a brew on me. This is getting ugly!!

Plan B to resolve our PG & C problem

I figure everyone is throwing out their ideas to improve the Warriors so let’s hear what everyone says about these possible trades. Now, I am staying within the rumors that I have heard within the GSOM, ESPN, Hoopsworld and other media outlets that I constantly check, so none of these trades are out of the blue. Also, to solidify my trades, I have run them through ESPN Trade machine (Those that I have data on) and I have checked the current salaries of all players.

Plan A.1

Trade Maggette 5yr/ 50 mil, SJax 2yrs/ 14.7 mil along with an unprotected 1st round pick to Detroit for Chauncey 4yr/ 50.5Mil and Prince 3yr/ 30.9Mil.

This trade works because we are taking on more salary but more from a current salary stand point this works. This helps Detroit in several ways. It gives them a young player in Maggette that slides into their SF slot that Prince would be vacating. Adding a veteran leader in SJax. Last, a unprotected 1st round draft picks. With all the diamonds in the rough that we have found in those later rounds, I think we can bypass next years draft.

The benefit for the Dubs, Adding Chauncey solves our PG issue, adds veteran leadership and will help in the Plan B equation of the post. Adding Prince to solidify our SF spot, having a lock down defender and financially helps 2010/2011 season.

Plan A.2

Trade Harrington 2yr/ 19.2 Mil to Memphis for Milicic 14.5 Mil, Warrick 2.1 Mil and Crittenton1.3 Mil

Trades works because Harrington is on his last year of his contract. Helps Memphis get cap space flexibility for their future plans.

The benefit for the Dubs, adding Milicic to back up Biedrins at the center position, helps in case Turiaf is resigned by LA and his salary will come off within a year if all plans go hell in a handbasket. Warrick will help coming off the bench backing up Ellis or Prince, fills in Harrington's role of "SCORER". Last, adding Crittenton as young PG in our system that can develop behind Chauncey and learn his defensive style and at the same time continue to enjoy the free flowing style of running up and down the court.

Conclusion, trying to create cap space flexibility and looking towards the future is all I am trying to do and all these moves helps us to do that. At the same time we have created a team and atmosphere in which we can build on. Imagine a line up that we can create assets and benefit from it. In the past we lost a big asset, Arenas. Imagine what we could have done with him in our line up. I would hate to lose Ellis or Biedrins although; management has said they will do anything to keep them (Over pay as usual). What have they done to build around them? Maggette and Turiaf do not sound like markie names that will carry us to the playoffs. And whispers of landing Marion, Childress and Alston don’t make me feel good if we spend all that cash and get stuck. Let me know what everyone thinks...Feel free to bash, I have thick skin like a True Warrior should have.

Current Line up with FA Signings (Starters are in Bold)

PG Ellis, CJ Watson

SG Ellis, SJax, Maggette, Belinelli

SF SJax, Maggette, Randolph

PF Wright, Harrington, Turaif

C Biendrins

Possible Line up after Trades

PG Billups, Crittenton, CJ Watson

SG Ellis, Azubuike, Belinelli

SF Prince, Randolph, Warrick

PF Turiaf, Wright

C Biendrins, Milicic

Thanks

I know there has been several teams asking about Pietrus, Miami and Dallas being two of them. What can we possible get back?? Any possible help on our low post game that wouldn't mess with the chemistry?
Can we also package other players to get a bigger fish or should we go for smaller moves and not mess with the flow?

I want to hear from the Warriors Nation on this topic? Trade deadline is Feb 15

The Warriors should look at acquiring Rasheed Wallace to fill the void at PF. I am not sure how the 10 million dollar trade exception works so I have proposed a player for player's trade. Rasheed Wallace for Harrington and POB?

I think our line up would be very exciting and extremely active.
PG-Baron
SG-Ellis
SF-SJax
PF-Rasheed Wallace
C-Biedrins

http://www.realgm.com/src_tradechecker/3/

I like the possible trade for a back-up point guard in sending Pietrus for JWill in Miami. That will help reduce some minutes on Baron's legs and still gives us a good PG to run with our current roster.

I am totally blown away by the signing of Croshere! I understand the money we are paying out is damn cheap but couldn't we use that money towards a more productive player that we can use for at least more then one year?

I wonder what Mully has cooking. Any conspiracy theorist out there to contribute to the possibilities??

This gives GS a PF/C in Wallace who can play along side Biendris. Back up PG in Duhon. Young PF in Thomas who can start or come off the bench. 9th Draft Pick possibly get Noah, Yi, Hawes, Green, Wright. Or trade the 9th pick and 18th pick and move up in the draft. Overall helps GS with managable contracts and utilizes personel throughout the season.
Projected squad: Baron, Jrich, Jackson, Wallace, Biendris
Bench: Thomas, Barnes, Duhon,Powell, Azubuike, Jasikevicius 9th, 46th draft pick.

This gives Chicago a veteran SF in Harrington,
Legit 7'0 Center in POB (Still young and raw), Sky's the limit P/SG in Ellis, two very nice pieces to build around. Back up center in Foyle who is cheaper in salary then wallace and will be easier to unload his contract within the next year or two. Overall, gives Chicago very nice pieces to continue to build around and develope into a young, hungry team to compete in the east. Cap flexibility for the coming years when they need to sign these young players to a long term contract or trade them for a marky name. Last, two draft picks in this rich big man draft.

Projected squad: Hinrich, Gordon, Harrington, Deng, POB
Bench: Ellis, Nocioni, Sweetney, Foyle, Sefolosha, Griffin, Khryapa, 18, 36th, 49th, 51st Draft picks.

2nd Trade Scenario:

Magic:
Milicic:
Salary: 2007/ 2008 $6,810,302.00
(Sign and Trade)

JJ Reddick:
         2009/ 2010 $3,020,603.00

Monte Ellis
Salary: 2007/ 2008 $770,610.00

Draft Pick: 46th Draft Pick 2007/2008

ESTIMATED TOTAL SALARY: $40 Million *(Projected: 62 Mill.)
* Sign and Trade, possibly (4yrs/ 26 Mill.)

ANALYSIS:
This gives GS a PF/C in Milicic who can play along side Biedrins. His scoring and defensive presence will need to develope to the next level but worth the risk. Adding Reddick off the bench would continue to gives us an added scoring threat on the floor and would help back up JRich. Battie, gives us a back up Center for both Biedrins and Milicic. Last with Nelson as a back up to Baron, would create a better situation at the point to cut some of Baron's minutes and to help in case we do not give Baron his extension. Draft pick thrown in to possibly balance the trade. No real impact on the trade.

Projected squad: Baron, Jrich, Jackson, Milicic, Biendris
Bench: Battie, Barnes, Nelson, Reddick, Powell, Azubuike, Jasikevicius, 18th, 34th, 54th draft pick.

Orlando will add a Veteran SF in Harrington to go along side Howard and O'Bryant. With Arroyo and Ellis in the back court this forms a very young nucleus to be competitive in the east. They will have plenty of cash to resign this young core and to obtain a impact FA if they would need.

Projected squad: Arroyo, Ellis, Harrington, Howard & O'Bryant

Bench: Turkoglu, Pietrus, Garrity, Dooling, Ariza, Bogans, Augustine, 44th and 46th draft pick.

I have researched many different scenario's with most of the teams out there. These are the only ones that I can see benefiting both sides. What is your take on these?

Trouble in Laker Land

Things are getting very interesting this offseason. What do you all think about the posibilities now for the Lakers to sign a big name to play along side Kobe? If all he says is true, I believe they might look at trading him? Bad mouthing the GM does not create a pleasant atmosphere... Anything is possible. Of course trade would be the last straw but what free agent would want to come in hearing all these empty promises and lack of talent in LA. I guess the Clips would be a good destination for KG now. Imagine KG along side Brand. WOW, that would be scary. I think with the Lakers situation, this helps Free agents look at more viable situations, such as Warriors, Clips, Denver jus to mention a few.

Lets go Mully, start fast out of the gate so we are not left holding the bag again.

Here is the link to the article about Kobe and Jerry Buss.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2886927

Totally Hypothetical Trades

This is pure Hypothetical and on the borderlines of impossible but...

We all know that the first 2 draft picks are a lock to get Durant and Oden. So I doubt they will deal. So moving on to the 3rd team...

Atlanta
Needs: Looking for veteran players.
Have: Johnson, Smith, S. Williams and Pachulia

If Johnson can play the point (Not too familiar with ATL) they would probably need a SG.

Could the Warriors offer up Jrich for their 3rd pick?

Memphis
Needs: Point Guard
Have: Gay, Gasol, Miller, Warrick

Could the Warriors offer all 3 picks for Gasol?
Could we trade them JRich for their 4th pick, which could create Swift moving into the starting 5 at PF and use Gasol as trade bait to get Jason Kidd?

Boston
Needs: Shooting Guard, Center
Have: Pierce, Green, Jefferson, Szczerbiak, West

Could the Warriors trade JRich and the 42nd pick to Boston for the 5th pick and Jefferson?

Milwaukee
Needs: Point Guard, Shooting Guard, Small Forward
Have: Redd, M Williams, Villanueva, Bogut, Gadzuric

Could the Warriors package Pietrus (Sign and trade), Jasikevicius, POB & 36th pick for Bogut and the 6th pick?

Minnesota
Needs: Shooting Guard, Power Forward, Center
Have: Foye, Davis, Garnett, McCants, Blount

Could the Warriors send JRich, Foyle, Pietrus (Sign and Trade), Jasikevicius, POB & 36th pick for KG and the 7th pick?

Okay...I will stop there...
I know there are so many possible scenarios for the Warriors and so many moves that are possible. I am jus scratching an itch that I have in regards to the Warriors. As a season ticket holder, I am so excited for next year. The possibilities are jus endless. I figure I would kick around some possible and impossible trade scenarios and hear what creative trades other people have. Feel free to post any rumors or any of your thoughts on trades. All is welcome...

Possible changes in the off-season

First of all I want to tip my cap to the Warriors on a fabulous season and strong push in the playoffs. It was damn EXCITING!!!

Now to the possible off-season moves.

The major move should be to lock down Barnes, Andris and Monte before anything. That is key to keeping our core group of players together for the long run. After, we can explore FA.

My own personal opinion is that we don't have to break the bank to obtain some quality post play. Our basic needs for the team would be a major post player, back-up PG & back up veteran center. We all know that Foyle and Jasikevicius do not fit Nellie's style. Also, Pietrus maybe a descent G/SF but his inconsistency from the line and from the perimeter makes him expendable. Last, Azubuike & Chabarkapa are good guys but I don't see them staying with the team.

So, if Nellie/ Mullie clean house or shall they say "Dump Salary" they will look at possibly trading Jasikevicius and our draft pick for a possible PF. That could be to Cleveland for Anderson Varejao. This would be a quality move for an energy guy and strong body in next to Andris. Another move would be to pursue the following FA: Chuck Hayes, Desmon Mason, Mikki Moore, Bostjan Nachbar, Maurice Taylor, Joe Smith, PJ Brown & Malik Allen to mention a few.

For a back-up PG and to elevate some of Baron's minutes, why don't we look at possibly picking up Sebastian Telfair. I am not sure what his status is in the league. But if that guy is available, why not!!

Another possible move would be to obtain Darko Milicic. He is a FA and would work perfect next to Andris.

If there is any way to pull off any type of trade with Atlanta for the following players we could ultimately move ourselves in a good position to be a power house in the west: Zaza Pachulia, Josh Smith, Sheldon Williams, Lorenzen Wright and possibly send Jrich, Jasikevicius, Foyle, Draft pick & a sign and trade of Pietrus.

Salary wise I believe this would work:
http://www.hoopshype.com/salaries/atlanta.htm

http://www.hoopshype.com/salaries/golden_state.htm

I don't believe that obtaining KG, O'Neal, Gasol or Amare is actually possible with the knowledge that we Baron and Andris are coming up for extensions. Don't get me wrong, if we can DO IT!! They are elite players that you do not pass up.

I believe this will be an interesting and exciting time for the Warriors. This could possible push us to the next level or bring us back down to mediocrity. Let's hope Mullie and Higgins has their V-8 the rest of the summer. Bring back Nellie!!! He is the key to our creditable resurgence back to an elite team!!

Go Warriors!!!!!!!

Jus my thoughts...feel free to criticize
I have thick skin like a true warrior fan has for the past 13 years...

Game 1 Matchups

Let's see how it all breaks down in Round 2 for the Warriors and Jazz:

At the point: Williams vs Davis:
Deron Williams: 16.3Pts, 8.4 Asts, 5.0 Rebs,
1.14 Stls
Baron Davis: 25 Pts, 5.7 Asts, 6.2 Rebs,
1.83 Stls

Analysis: Favor Baron Davis
Impact of player: Baron Davis

Assessment: If Baron can continue to impose his will as he did in the Dallas series, it will be a long, hard fought battle. If his injuries start to show, he will run on just 80% physically and 110% emotion. Don't doubt this "True Warrior". He is at center stage and lives for these moments. I believe in the long run you will see the Warriors in the conference finals. MVP Baron Davis.

At Shooting Guard: Harpering vs Richardson
Matt Harpering: 10.7 Pts, 1.3 Asts, 5.6 Rebs,
.29 Stls
Jason Richardson: 19.5 Pts, 2.0 Asts, 6.8 Rebs,
1.33 Stls

Analysis: Favor Jason Richardson
Impact of player: Jason Richardson

Assessment: Richardson can take over a game with his hot shooting and strong penetration. His activeness on the boards is going to be needed in order for the warriors to continue their high octane running attack. Look for Richardson to stay active in the rebounding aspect. His downside can be his lack of assertiveness. Matt Harpering is no smuck, if Richardson starts to take it easy on him, Harpering will light him up from all over. Stay aggressive and advantage Richardson.

At Small Forward: Kirilenko vs Jackson
Andrei Kirilenko: 5.3Pts, 2.3Asts, 3.1 Rebs, 2.29 Blks
Stephen Jackson: 22.8 Pts, 3.7 Asts, 4.5 Rebs,
2.0 Stls

Analysis: Favor Stephen Jackson
Impact of player: Stephen Jackson

Assessment: Jax is an emotional type of player. If he stays focused and does not get overwhelmed by AK's length and defense, he could be the solider who pushes his troops to victory. AK plays a lot of weak side defense. Warriors can capitalize with an additional pass for easy buckets. If AK gets it going with jump shots and stays active on the boards, he will be a handful. Throw in his multiple block sessions and it could be a long night for the warriors. If they are both at the top of their game, it is a toss up. Advantage NONE.

At Power Forward: Boozer vs Harrington
Carlos Boozer: 24.6 Pts, 3.4 Asts, 11.0 Rebs,
1 Stls
Al Harrington: 4.5 Pts, .7 Asts, 5.2 Rebs,
.17 Stls

Analysis: Favor Carlos Boozer
Impact of player: Carlos Boozer

Assessment: It doesn't look like Harrington will guard Boozer unless on a switch or foul trouble on Biedrins. So we will switch this around. Boozer will have the strength over Biedrins. Boozer will get his points but will see constant double teams at the post. It is imperative that he passes out of double teams with accuracy. If the warriors play that swarming defense that they are use to, the Warriors can run away from this team. Boozer will continue to pound it in the post and live at the line. It could be a long, hard series for Biedrins. Biedrins will have to stay down on the pump fakes and stay on the one on one match ups with Boozer. He will also have to not pick up ticky tack fouls on the help defense rotation. We might see a lot more of Josh Powell on Boozer. I believe this is a possible match up. Keep the Warriors small and gives them still a possible mid-range jump shooter that can still run and gun with the Nellie Ball line-up. Advantage Boozer.

At Center: Okur vs Biedrins
Mehmet Okur: 11.0 Pts, 2.4 Asts, 8.0 Rebs,
1.71 Stls, 1.29 Blks
Andris Biedrins: 6.7 Pts, .3 Asts, 5.2 Rebs,
1 Blks

Analysis: Favor Memhet Okur
Impact of player: Memhet Okur

Assessment: This match-up will be Okur and Harrington, Okur is a solid outside threat. Harrington will need to refocus and get his mind back into this series. If Harrington can be more physical and try and bring Okur to the post on offense. He might be able to draw a couple of cheap fouls on him. If Okur stays aggressive, he will shoot the lights out from mid-range and from the arch. Keep this a physical game and the warriors can win in the post. Stay perimeter, and it might be a long battle for this match-up. Advantage None.

FINAL ASSESSMENT: This will be one hell of a match-up. I believe that the Warriors can pull it off and not with the style that everyone is thinking. The key here is Harrington being assertive at the post. Take Okur down to the block and make your presence known. Draw Boozer outside and make him shoot the jumper. He is a descent jump shooter but imploring him to shoot jumpers means he will not get as many rebounds. That will play towards the strength of the warriors. The Warriors must collectively rebound in order for them to win. If the Jazz try and dictate the pace with the Boozer low post game, the warriors will need to continue the swarming defense. Ball movement will be key for the Jazz to win the series. That is my final assessment of the teams. This might be all bias towards the warriors but of course, this is GSoM blog. GO WARRIRS!!!
