I've been a Braves fan since I can remember. My earliest memory is watching Sid Bream slide home safely and take the guys from worst to first. I don't get to make it to many Braves games, but I keep up with them like I have part ownership in the team!

Can you guys think of any particular reason why? I know you can never have too much pitching, but unless it's maybe an even swap of Frenchy for Penny I don't see why we'd want him. Thoughts?

Talking Chop Braves' Troubling Record

Hey folks, I'm a long time reader of TC, but this is my first time posting or commenting on the site.  I love my Braves dearly, and I've noticed a disturbing trend this year that I wanted to bring to everyone's attention (if y'all haven't noticed already).  Our record right now is 24-24, which for all intents and purposes isn't bad with the competitive division we are in, but taking a closer look at our Win-Loss record indicates a troubling pattern.

Against opponents with a current above .500 win-loss record, we are 12-8, including series wins over the Mets, Phillies, and Blue Jays.  This is the good news.  The bad news is that against opponents with a current win-loss record under .500, we are 12-16, including series losses to Florida, Pittsburgh, Washington, Houston, and San Francisco (split series with Colorado).  This is, to me at least, wildly frustrating that we seem to play our best ball against the good clubs like the Mets and Phillies, yet then turn around and show up with stinkers like we just had in San Francisco.

I can't stand it that we seem to play up to the standard of our opponents, whether really good or really bad.  Now obviously there are multiple factors involved, primarily injuries and low OF production (which I will be giving my opinion on in the appropriate thread), but since we are nearly to the 1/3 mark of the season, this is a trend that needs to be addressed by the team.  I would surely hope the veterans of the team, like Chipper and McCann, could notice this and get the team energized for EVERY game they play, especially these against the losing record opponents.  So what do you guys out there think of this trending pattern?
