Via Vince. Congrats to Reid!!! I must admit, I am a bit confused, though, as I thought teams couldn't sign Undrafted FAs until tomorrow.

I really appreciate aesthetically pleasing, informative graphs. That is exactly what this is showing the path of each NCAA Tourney winning team since the 64-team format was instituted. Take a lakk.

What? No game thread yet? It's the rubber match of the series, so lets see if the Cougs can pull out the win.

Graphs Of The Game 5: An Objective Look At Our Chances At The Postseason (Updated)

Last night, the Cougs lost to Stanford by double digits. That really stung, and didn't particularly help our postseason prospects. But how much did it really knock us down?

Another testament to our Kickoff coverage

+

This week in Brian Fremeau's discussion of FEI (sort of like DVOA for college FB), there was a table of an interesting statistic: Yard per Touchdown Drive for both offense and defense. Washington State's defense is 6th in the nation in terms of length of TD drive given up by the defense, making teams drive an average of 72 yards during non-garbage time in FBS games. Now, we also have allowed far more TDs than any other team on that list (27) so I think the obvious implication is this: Our kickoff coverage pins opponents deep, forcing them to drive nearly 3/4s the length of the field for each TD. The downside is that opponents have been able to do that with frightening (or perhaps expected) regularity.

WSU 39th ranked defense in the nation!

Well, at least according to Football Outsiders S&P+ Ratings (Week ending 9/25). Honestly, this seems like a ghost in the numbers that will work itself out over the coming weeks, but it is nice to look at for the moment.
