The Brewers, who are comfortable with lefty Chris Narveson as their fifth starter, would sign Oswalt only at the right price.
Astros place Clint Barmes on waivers
They said Barmes was unavailable at the trade deadline, but maybe they changed their mind. I'd love to see the Brewers claim him, it would be a huge improvement over Yuni6.
Keeper league trade question
I'm in a keeper league, and I was recently proposed the trade Carlos Santana and Alex Gordon for Mike Stanton and Matt Joyce. In our league Stanton would be a free keeper this year (under 23 years old) while Santana isn't. Next year Stanton won't be a free keeper. If I do the trade, Stanton would replace Gordon as a starting OFer on my team, along with Matt Holliday and Andre Ethier. Joyce would go on the bench, and I would have to pick up a free agent catcher. Probably John Buck. Should I accept the trade?
Fantasy baseball keeper league trade help.
Hey guys, I currently play in a fantasy baseball keeper league. It's a pretty basic head to head points league. I'm currently in first place, and I obviously have my sights set on the championship. I have Carlos Santana as my catcher, he hasn't been terrible (decent power and a lot of walks) but his average is concerning. I love his upside, especially with this being a keeper league. Recently another owner who has a pretty bad record and is looking to improve his team for next year offered me a Victor Martinez for Santana straight up in a trade offer. Thoughts on a Santana for Martinez swap?
Ryan Braun extension?
I'm watching the Reds/Diamondbacks game on MLB network, and they just mentioned that they will have news tonight on a Ryan Braun extension that will keep him (and I quote the MLB announcer) "in Milwaukee for a long long time." I haven't heard this anywhere else, so I'm not sure if they have a scoop or it's a mistake. Just an FYI. Did anyone else hear it? I'll be watching MLB Network for the rest of the day now to see what they say.
Starting a Fantasy Baseball League. Need Advice!
Hey guys, this spring my friends and I are planning on playing in a fantasy baseball league together. None of us have played in one before, and I'm just looking for advice. What are the different variations to the game, and the pros and cons of each one? I've heard of some leagues where it's just like fantasy football, and you just outscore your opponent, and others where you have different categories such as RBIs, HRs, etc; and you try to win different categories. I don't really know much about the second one. Also is it better to simply play for total points, or go head to head? Thanks!
1. Fausto Carmona, RHP, Indians — There are interested parties (Milwaukee, and Texas until the Lee deal) sniffing around about Carmona, who was named to the All-Star team, quite a turnaround for a guy who went 5-12 with a 6.32 ERA and couldn’t be given away last season. Not a bad alternative, if the price isn’t too high.
