McCovey Chronicles It's been a long time coming

I posted this on my own blog, but wanted to share it here as well (even though we don't need the primer on Giants World Series heartbreak), as my way of bearing witness to the emotions of the night.

Yes, I got teary while writing this. No, I do not care.

McCovey Chronicles In which I bring up something kind of crazy...

Don't be alarmed. I come in peace.

I know how many of us who were around/paying attention feel about 2002 and how, from certain angles, it all came down to an ill-timed pitching change and that dang Rally Monkey. I also know how we do our own things at AT&T, and we reject some things other teams consider traditions. But perhaps this year we need to mix it up a bit...

McCovey Chronicles My Writing Project (rather long, sorry...)

Remember this topic? http://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2008/1/30/155854/577#comments Later, I went and hinted that I might turn that into a story for Creative Writing class (http://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2008/1/30/155854/577#1258673). So, I sat down and wrote this story as my final project.

Characters are based on members of various message boards I frequent.

The Fruit Loop thing actually happened. As did the line about the spoon. I have strange friends.

Also starring Weena Mercator as the Hopping Woman.

McCovey Chronicles Help a girl out...

I'm interested in becoming one of the PA announcers for my school's baseball games, but they say that anyone who applies needs to "possess some knowledge of baseball." How would you define "some knowledge"? I mean, I can name all the positions and their numbers (4-6-3, for example), but I might need an assist in determining what is an error and what isn't and who to charge with it... I know I'm not the most knowledgeable baseball girl in the world, but do you think I've got a shot?
