I managed to get there before he left, and he suggested a warmachine model for me to build to represent him when we're watching Vikes games at my local. Very nice guy, signed my football and a Vikings nutcracker that currently comes to all Vikes games with me. Met his brother Greg as well, and Jeff at the shop. All three went out of their way to help me, despite me having almost no knowledge of tabletop gaming. It was a long drive, but I'm so glad I went.

As noted Arceneaux has been moved to active. I realize the CFL is a different game, but look at these stats on Wikipedia. He looks like a playmaker. I wonder why he didn't make the roster before now. Adjustment to NFL I guess.

Back in 2006 I finally got the opportunity I had wanted since I was 12. I was on my way to San Fransisco to see a Vikings game. I did the same thing about a year ago, and on Saturday, my local Vikings crew is buying tickets for San Diego on Sept 11. So, the question is; will the third time be a charm or a curse? More after the jump...

Wow, still here? Thanks! Ok, this was not my first NFL game. I got to be abused by San Diego fans at the Steelers-Chargers game a couple years before. It was the year after the Steelers won it all, and it was a Sunday night game. I had some jerk winging around a blue Chargers Towel an inch from my head, since my (now ex) wife was wearing a Steelers jersey. I wore a black Vikings hat, but just wearing black in that stadium was scary.

I wasn't sure what to expect in SF, but I was pleasantly surprised. It may have been that I was wearing a Utah hoodie, and was secretly hoping Utah's own Alex Smith did well. Nevertheless, thanks to Brad Johnson this game was uber lame. Vikings lose 9-3. I didn't get to see a single touchdown. I did manage to meet some cool Niners fans, and overall, it was a good experience.

Fast forward to August 2010, and I was on the road again. My girlfriend had scored not only free tickets, but passes to a pre-game party. We were expecting to be the only Vikes fans, and we were correct. However, we got to meet several former players, many with SB rings, who were nice enough to talk to us. Still being a bit of an Alex Smith fan, I asked a couple former players their opinion. The seats were great, and sucked all at once. First row, behind the end zone. Meh, we did get to see Webb score a TD, but it was at the other end zone. Same with every other score in the 15-10 loss.

So, in a few weeks a well equipped crew of Vikings fans will head for San Diego, and I want a win, a good win. My first two Vikes games were great, albeit boring losses. I want a win, and I want to celebrate it in SD. Go Vikings!
