Sam Miller, OCR: Assessing Vernon Wells’ season so far
With his hallmark thoroughness - spray charts and the works - Sam sketches up six ways to look at Vernon Wells' season so far.
Plenty of Millerisms included, not the least of which is this:
"Last year, Vernon Wells hit .224/.299/.400 away from Rogers Centre. This year, away from Rogers Centre — which is to say, his entire season — Wells is hitting .222/.248/.409. Why, those are virtually the same! I have no idea if this is significant, but it is definitely one way of assessing Vernon Wells’ season".

MLB's 20 Greatest Games - #8: The Pain
Some of you were interested in where the 1986 Angels/Red Sox debacle ended up in MLB Network's 20 Greatest Games countdown series.
Well, here it is: Number 8. Airing on MLB Network Monday, March 28 @ 6:00 PM.
Have at it. I'm not watching.
Saxon: Trumbo and the redundancy of Wood
Mark Saxon thinks Brandon Wood's days in an Angels uniform are numbered. As much as it pains me (it's Mark 'Cut-and-Paste' Saxon after all - and worse - Brandon 'Number One Prospect' Wood), I agree with him.
Death pool, anyone?

MLB Network's 30 Clubs In 30 Days - Angels Edition
Just a reminder, MLB Network's 30 Clubs In 30 Days makes a whistle-stop at Tempe Diablo Stadium to visit the Angels starting Thursday.
Apparently, we're in for some "expert analysis on personnel and other decisions for the upcoming regular season."
Meh. I'll probably watch anyway.
Air times (Pacific)
Thursday 3/10: 2:00 pm, 7:00 pm
Midnight
Friday 3/11: 2:00 am, 4:00 am, 6:00 am, 8:00 am, 11:00 am,
We'll miss you Joe. Thanks for giving your all for us silly fans. You'll do great over there in the NL. Have a good start Thursday and throw a No-No when you see the Dodgers!
(Just wanted to post something in tribute since none of YOU navel-gazing ingrates did...)
Filed Under: Things Could Be Worse
Wow. Remember when the Seattle Mariners were the Number 6 organization in all of baseball? Remember how that title was "earned", in large part, on the "strength" of their front office?
If so, you should read this scathing blog article by Seattle Times reporter Geoff Baker. He highlights internal rifts, dispells the myth that the Ms are a "Sabermetric-driven" organization, rips Chone Figgins and throws the vaunted Jack Zduriencik in front of the bus - as it's moving.
Enjoy!
