I don't know if this is supposed to be a fanshot or what, but I'm guessing whomever comes with me to the game will forgive me at least. I've got 2 extra, maybe 3, for Sunday's game. So, if any of you are in the LA area -- and don't want to hang with your mom all day, let me know. I'm ditching mine after brunch. 1:10 start time.

It's not much of an article -- from a French Canadian newspaper, so maybe a big grain of salt should be taken here, but is it the herald of things to come? Where do they go with this and how far? Can he/they really do this? Should it even be allowed if baseball didn't even make them banned substances themselves? Are all the stats from all the 104 guys going to be stripped from the books? I'm not seeing it, but you never know I guess.

Since my wishful thinking regarding the Red Sox and Roberts didn't fair so well, I'll ask you guys, why do we not mention trades like Alderson to the Cards for Brett Wallace? They don't really have a place to play the guy as he's limited to 3rd -- and eventually relegated to 1st, and their system is weak in pitching. I know that deal would have to wait until they'd be allowed to deal him, but it's those kind of deals the Giants should be making, no?

Roberts to BoSox?

Why not? They're solid in the outfield, including Kotsay and Baldelli, but don't really have the late inning pinch-runner that Roberts typified for them in the key moment of their comeback against the Yankees in '04. Kotsay will see time at first, Big Papi and Kotsay are injury prone -- all it would take is a prolonged injury or slump on Ellsbury's part to mess things up a bit. Roberts is beloved in Boston and they could afford to split the 6.5 with us to have the insurance policy. It just seems like one of the very few destinations we could ship Dave off to...

'85 was the worst year for those of us old enough to regard Jack Clark as their favorite all-time Giant, but '86 brought me back just when I was about to give up for good. "How 'bout them kids!" and "Humm Baby" were on t-shirts everywhere. Will, Robby, The Tin Man & The Hack-Man got the Giants back over .500 and everyone just knew it was just the beginning.

This is what this year needs to be like. Keep it simple and let the kids play. Take it in the shorts for a year.

Do something small to fill the 3b void until Villalona gets here like Lowry, Hennessey, and maybe Marcus Sanders to the Rockies for Stewart and Fuentes. Trade Durham to someone for a sippy-cup and let Velez play second.

Let's see what Schierholtz, Ortmeier, Velez, and Stewart could come up with...
