BB's Draft Achievement....VERSATILITY
I think the greatest accomplishment and Hoodie's number one goal of this offseason was adding versatility to this team. I am extremely excited about this team especially on the defensive side of the ball. Here's a quick breakdown of what the draft did in terms of versatility!!!! This is one thing we do far better than any team in the league and I feel we lacked it last year for the first time of the Belichek Regime.
Devin McCourty - coverage corner should contribute immediately as a Nickleback and on special teams, hoping for him to become a starter by years end. Amazing history of blocking kicks (7 in his college career), also can return kicks if asked to.
Gronk - All you can ask for in a TE, great recevier and should become a great blocker as well with the way we develop O-Line. Can go in the backfield if need be. Key addition that adds a ton of stability and flexibility for the rest of the offense.
Jermaine Cunningham - He's our key addition in terms of a Rush OLB. Should be in on sub packages and definitely will play a key role on special teams in the short term. He could be a poorman's Willie McGinest that could thrive in the 3-4 and also play out of the 3 point stance when we switch it up.
Brandon Spikes - Spikes himself is not versatile, he's a run stuffer and he's very smart. But he may add the most versatility of all by freeing up Guyton. Guyton now transforms into our new Mike Vrabel. He'll be playing a little bit of everywhere on D. I can see Guyton dropping back in coverage, rushing the QB up the gut and around the tackles, and cycling through various positions in various packages. We need someone to do this and Guyton seems like he's a great candidate from what we've seen out of him thus far.
Aaron Hernandez - Gronk was the Stud TE we needed, Hernandez steps in as the offensive weapon. Look for Hernandez to line up at the line, go wide, or even in the backfield as an FB or even an HB on goaline and heavy packages. Id expect him to be in motion a lot and see a lot of plays designed for him. He could turn into our 3rd down/short yardage threat that we will probably be losing in Faulk after the season.
Hoodie likes to play chess and by adding these 5 he's really established a nice arsenal. Last season we really didn't have the unpredictability that we normally have. I think now we go back to our old ways, our championship ways.....

Patspulpit.com Mock Draft Results
Hey Dawgs,
We just finished a mock over at Patspulpit and I had decided to draft on your behalf. Wanted your opinion on the results. I held out on Colt McCoy, Im higher on Tony Pike actually. Theyre both still available going into the 3rd round where you guys have a bunch of picks. Let me know your thoughts, I think you'd be happy with it...

Assuming no one slips....
Assuming no one slips too far in the draft, what are your opinions on our 1st round pick.
I personally am on the fence between Odrick and Graham, maybe leaning more towards Graham at this point......Where's everyone else on this????
One thing I like about these two guys is their from the Big 10. Our AFC East opponents most closely resemble BIG 10 football in my opinion, with a lot more pressure relying on the Front 7 than the secondary. Id like to think either of these guys could make the transition. I especially like Graham's leadership and his pairing with Mayo for years to come could be a thing of beauty.
Draft Idea
While this move would be very untypical of BB and the direction we normally move in the draft.....why not Trade Up for a change if we can get a shot a Derrick Morgan DE Georgia Tech. According to Mocks we'd have to jump about 8-12 spots to snag him. I really see this guy as a can't miss prospect. He's got the Size and Speed and if it takes a future 3rd rounder and our 1st round pick I do it in a heart beat. I've watched him play quite a bit over the past two years and he was an absolute beast on the collegiate level. My only gripe is that he played in the ACC....
Is this move possible? What would it take to get done? Any thoughts on the idea????
Draft Wishlist
With the draft upcoming I'd like to here everyone's wishlist for the First 4 picks. Try to keep it realistic, players can definitely fall much later than they are projected as we've seen in the past but dont overdo it. Also no trades.
Here's my dream draft, won't go down like this because I can almost guarantee we go Pass rusher with the 1st pick (probably a good idea). Also this is assuming Spiller doesn't fall to 22 (dont know how his stock dropped so much). I'm also going to note that I think we wait to address the OLine till next year's 1st round and pick up an F.A. for this year.
1st Rd:
pick 22
Golden Tate WR (ND) I can almost guarantee this pick won't be made if he is available as I'm sure we're looking at an Outside Pass Rusher. He'd be a great compliment to the Moss-Welker combination and the kid has intangibles. In the right system he could shine.
2nd Rd:
pick 42
Jahvid Best RB (Cal) This would be a steal if he were to fall this low, dont see it happening but this fills a big hole and I flat out like the kid. If he falls this low how do we pass him up.
pick 48
Jermaine Gresham TE (OKLA) Big question marks here but top 10 in terms of potential. Mock drafts have him falling this low, I dont see it happening and I dont see us making 3 consecutive offensive picks. But BB tends to take the best available player.
pick 54
Eric Norwood OLB (SC) Smart, fast and versatile. We'd have to go Pass rusher with this last pick.
