Since we were able to see the new AP logo today, I thought this was appropriate...Grantland's take on "honest" NFL logos

Brett Favre discusses alleged bounties with SI's Peter King Favre to SI March 2: "Since that game, I haven’t gone a week without someone asking me whether I thought there was a bounty on me that day." Favre2: "Now it’s come out to be true. But it’s football. I’m not going to make a big deal of it.’’ Favre3: "I don’t think anything less of those guys. I would have loved to play with Vilma. Hell of a player.'' Favre4: "Got a lot of respect for Williams. Great coach...If they want me to testify in court about this, they’d be calling the wrong guy.’’ Favre5, however: "Now, in that game there were some plays that, I don’t want to say were odd, but ... Favre6: "... I’d throw the ball and whack, on every play. Hand it off, whack. Over and over ... Favre7: "... Some were so blatant. I hand the ball to Percy Harvin early and got drilled right in the chin.''
linkThroughout the offseason, on and off the field, new Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley has appeared relaxed, at ease and smiling. The same was the case on Wednesday, when he spoke with the media during training activities. Far from the fiery, not-afraid-to-get-in-a-player’s-face persona he has cultivated over 15 years as an assistant or head coach in the NFL, this is a new Haley with a new mission on a new team. But don’t worry, he said. The Steelers will see that side of him soon enough. "I don’t flip that switch until a little later," Haley said, drawing laughs. "In training camp, we’ll pick it up a notch."

Many of you know I have a father-son relationship with Roger Goodell. I love him and just had to reach out to him with all that is going on. We are at a crucial point in the history of football. The foundation of the game is in jeopardy based on all these factors and the future of the game is going to be shaped by him. Dear Dad, I know it has been a rough week, so I wanted to reach out. Players dying, players suing and on top of that my peers are just going off on you in the media. It does not help that ESPN has all of a sudden become Medical TV with damn near every brain expert on the planet. This has got to be the worst week[s] ever. Since no one is showing any support, I figured I would be the first. You are in one big-ass catch 22 and quite frankly, I am not sure there is any solution. One thing I think can help is killing the NFL PR machine. Y'all do a darn near perfect job at portraying this game as one played by heroes. But let's be real dad. This is a nasty, dirty and violent game with consequences. Sign up or go get a regular job. Watch it or turn off the TV and go fishing with your kids. It is really that simple. I know there are probably legal and financial implications that prevent this blunt depiction, but am not sure if you have a choice. If you don't say it now, the mounting evidence being revealed publicly will say it for you very soon. In all, I love you and if anyone can lead us out of this mess, it will be you. Oh by the way, I have a deal for you. Am having a rebound year and plan to do a lot of celebrating in the end zone. Can my fine money go to supporting ex-players suffering? Sincerely, Chad
"Just got off phone so in nutshell I'm hearing that unless bidwill screws this up peyton should be a card. Nothing done yet!! but promising" - John Gambadoro, Sports Radio Talk Show host on Sports 620 KTAR Phoenix, Arizona
FTA - If it’s true that Manning wants to have a decision made by Tuesday and the start of NFL free agency, then the equation is pretty simple: One (Denver) + One (Arizona) + One (Miami) = the three teams that have a chance to sign Manning. ... Next on the list according to various reports are the Dolphins, who he’s expected to meet with on Monday and then make a decision. That time table would leave the Chiefs out in the cold, unable to get even a visit to Kansas City from Manning. That’s a pretty good indication that Manning saw nothing with the Chiefs that was worthy of going beyond a "don’t call us, we’ll call you" type of situation.
Links directly to the audio file from ESPN otherwise you can only link to ESPN's Chiefs page. Just thought it was interesting that it aired on Monday and they start by saying Peyton to K.C. makes sense...
Bob does a good job articulating the situation so I thought it was worth sharing part of the article... ...We’ve all heard so much from Clark Hunt about how he wants his organization to be like the Steelers, and then he turns around and does things that are completely opposite of what would happen with the Rooney family. Maybe if this job works out, Haley will actually get a taste of the Steelers Way. It’s become more and more apparent that even though he was named coach of the year by some outlets in 2010, won a division title and got the Chiefs into the playoffs with a lineup far from championship caliber, the organization wanted to dump him after that season. Unfortunately, neither Hunt nor GM Scott Pioli had the guts to pull the trigger and make the move, so worried were they about the public reaction to firing a coach that made the playoffs.
Bill Belichick may be bound for the Hall of Fame, but he can’t scrub the Internet, which means this clip of him describing how to make a PB&J will never go away Found here - http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/01/23/cooking-with-bill-belichick/
Wonder why Tyler Palko was the starting quarterback after Matt Cassel was lost for the season? What choice did Haley have? Ricky Stanzi was even less prepared for the role than Palko, but in some situations a head coach would have put the rookie on the field. But Haley couldn’t afford to do that. He knew Pioli along with team chairman Clark Hunt were looking for any reason to fire him. He thought Palko presented a better opportunity to win than Stanzi. When Kyle Orton arrived, the first week he was totally unprepared for stepping into the Chiefs offense. The second week, they planned to use Orton, but then he dislocated his finger on his first play on the field, knocking him out of the rest of that game and the next one after that. Haley wasn’t trying to prove anything by using Palko other than win as many games as possible.
And we'll start with the Packers-Chiefs tilt, where @JoeConte pointed out that Romeo Crennel repeatedly bungled his short-yardage decisions... ... Stories will be written today about how the Chiefs won under the leadership of Romeo Crennel, but don't buy it. They won in spite of him.
Thanks to the Chiefs and the Colts wins, this chart now applies.
I usually gloss over these charity stories, but this is pretty cool
