Pregame Ticket Sales

Im looking to go to the Sunday, August 24th game against the Nats (1:20 start). Ive heard that the team has 500 tickets that they sell on gameday in the box office. Does anyone have any advice on what time i would have to get there to get tickets? Also, even though I know there is a ticket resale thread where people post in, but is anyone willing to sell their tickets for that day? Thanks in advance.. Eamus Catuli!

Considering the fact that I would not be born for another 7 years, I cannot enjoy this as much as other fans can. But 25 years or so from now if something came up like this but with this years Cubs, I would be estatic. So anyways, here is an interesting perspective on the first half for those who can really enjoy it. Just thought I'd pass it along.

For those of you who thought there was somewhat of a chance that Wrigley would buy our stadium, it's not going to happen. Today, Mars Inc. (Candy Company-Spearmint/Juicy Fruit gums, Life Savers, etc.) agreed to buy out the Wrigley Gum Company for $23 billion dollars. According to marketwatch.com, the deal will create a candy/gum superpower with net income of $28 billion a year. So it doesnt look like this Wrigley company is looking to invest in this Wrigley Field. Kind of interesting, almost irrelevant to the Cubs because they were never really much in the running for the Wrigley sale,but just some food for thought (or maybe gum, it lasts longer).

I thought I'd start with that. People are gonna be upset with this pick, as the Bears passed on John David Booty (who I think will be there next pick), Andre Woodson, Mario Manningham, and Early Doucet. I thought it was kind of interesting thatr they passed on these guys to get our 1st round pick Chris Williams' teammate. Not really much else to say, you do the research for yourself. Today was nice and quick. Fastest day 1 since 1990, when ironically, there wasnt a single WR taken in the first round (just like today). There were plenty of trades, the most in recent memory. Today's clear winner was Kansas City, who adressed their needs and got some firepower.

Now, onto the Bears... Da Bearsss! The Bears went out and got the offensive tackle they needed, Chris Williams out of Vanderbuilt. After that, they unsuspectedly took Matt Forte, running back out of Tulane. Forte reminds me alot of Cedric Benson, to tell you the truth. Some bright signs for this kid is that he rushed for over 2200 yards last year. He was the only weapon on the Tulane team, and defense's knew that to beat this team, all they had to do was stop him. And they continued to fail all year. In the 3rd round, Kiper has John David Booty as the 8th best player available, so maybe that is the QB the Bears take. So thats it for Day 1, tommorrow is another day, and a crutail one for the Chicago Bears franchise.

Shaun Alexander has been released by the Seattle Seahwaks.

Sure, he is injury prone, but this could save the Bears a draft pick that they could use somewhere else. And sure, he may break down and not be useful whatsoever. So what? As much as I dont want to say it, this year we dont have a chance to do much seriously... So if this doesnt work out, we still have another offseason to find a RB. And who knows, Ced Ben could turn around or even Garrett Wolfe could emerge.

So all in all, it wouldnt hurt to sign Alexander for 4-5 million for this year, throw in a mutual option for another year or two. What do you think?

Cubs on ESPN

Ive seen alot of stuff on ESPN lately about the Cubs. Theres also some things to look for through the weekend and in onto Monday from the Eastern Seaboard Programming Network...

Today, they had an interview with Lou, and Lou was talking about the rotation. Ironically, aside from what all of us think, Lou is excited about our pitching staff the most. And like reports have been all spring, Kerry Wood has been the most impressive pitcher in all of Mesa, so thats something to be excited about. I think it was Buster Olney who today said that Kerry Wood's performane in the bullpen will be the Cubs key this year, followed by Lee, Ramirez, and Soriano's health. He also mentioned Fukudome's transition breifly. Nothing on Zambrano though.

Apparently on Friday (tommorrow), ESPN.com is supposed to come out with a pretty sizable article, giving reasons why the Cubs didnt make the World Series for the last 99 years. From what I understand, they will go over every year. Kinda interested to see that, to be honest.

One last thing is coming up sunday, a feature thats been running on ESPN for as long as I can remember. The Sunday Conversation. This week Lou Pinella is featured, so tune in for a good, exclusive interview.

Hey Everybody, the new and improved site, its awesome. Just have a few questions. I was wondering what other sites have converted to the new format. I found the Halos Heaven (Angels) and Athletics Nation have converted, but on the first post of this site it said that BCB was the fith. Which are the other.

Also, when and how often are other sites going to convert in general?...

And Al, I just got a copy of the "Wrigley Season Ticket 2008". I'm up through your first article (The Cubs Turn To The Far East), and now Im getting more and more excited by the hour for Opening Day. lol. I cant wait to buzz through it...

Wow. Incredible. June 29th, 2007. Cubs incredibly win 7th game in a row to start off a crutial weekend series with the division leading Brewers. To refresh your memories, Cubs down 5-0 early, but fought all the way back. 5-3 going into the 9th, Soriano and Fontenot seach singled with 1 out. Derek Lee had the sac fly to knock in Soriano, making it 5-4 with two outs. Aramis knocked Fontenot and himself in with 41,909 going absolutly NUTS! Quite possibly the turning point in the amazing season. Everything you see advertising Cubs 2008 season has a picture of Aramis crossing home plate after this shot. I was lucky enough to be at this game, and that was the loudest Ive heard Wrigley in awhile... This not the video, but its Len and Bobs call of the play, along with Pat & Ron's call. Ron Santo sounds like he's dying. lol. .
