You know, in the 48 years I have been a fan, the Chiefs have never asked my opinion on coaches or players. Every year I hope for the best and nothing will keep me from coming back. I dont have the inside knowledge of who is going to be a good coach or not so I pray that the insiders will get each hire right. Good luck Brain Daboll, your a Chief now!

I loved watching Priest Holmes play and loved when he came back. I just didn't expect it to end so soon when he did finally make it back. That being said, Peyton Manning will never play again. We should move on from the hope and expectations.

Trying to find dates for Chiefs home schedule next year. Anyone have an idea where to look?
Lanier63
Sorry guys, but this didnt even look like the same team today. Romeo has my vote as long as they bring in a proven OC.

Can Joel or Chris remind us of the rules about talking to coaches from other teams and the timing of such? Id kinda like to get an idea if anything will happen before the end of the season, playoffs, etc...

I deny any rumors that exist that says I will become the new head Coach of the Chiefs.
Lanier63
(Well every time you see this 5 times, it actually happens!) LOL
"Its that time again, when we can say, head for the mock drafts!"
I wanted to start this FanPost with a "LOL", but I thought that would lose your attention too quickly. Im sure that will happen in the next few sentences. But, it seems that with our record, that the posts have begun questioning everything from "why did Haley go for it on third down" to "why has the pretzel prices increased during a losing season?" I cant know the answer to any of these questions. But I do know one thing, and one thing I will comment on is "why do I continue to support this team?"
I saw another post the other day asking, "why or what made you a Chiefs fan?" I didn't respond to it, but read a few comments. As long as I have been around here, I thought my story was tired and dried up and I had rather read about you guys instead. But one Fanpost did peak my interest and I think the writer was chastised well enough in the responses. That post was, "Prove me wrong, why should I support the Chiefs?"
I want to say something first of all about one thing that seems to keep coming up on here concerning "true" fans. Google defines a fan as: A person who has a strong interest in or admiration for a particular sport, art or entertainment form, or famous person. Simply put, there is no mention of spending money to be a true fan. I admire and sometimes envy those who can afford season tickets each year and have the geographically located turf to be able to go 8-10 times per year. As a firefighter I dont have that luxury of having the extra income to afford the tickets to that many games let alone I live 500 miles away. So a trip for me is much more than a few dollars for gas, parking and a ticket. As far as merchandise goes, I think I have spent my fair share over the years supporting the NFL and the Chiefs on merchandise and bought a new jersey this year.
However, I am no more of a fan for buying items or attending games since 1963 than the guy who has been a fan for that same amount of time, who has never purchased anything. I will never be that selfish in my thoughts.
Back to the post I am writing about, I am not going to prove anyone wrong, you shouldn't support the Chiefs. Nor do I think you should support any team. My uncle once told me in the 70's, when the Chiefs really sucked, every franchise will rotate in a circle. Meaning simply, there are going to be good years and there are going to be bad years. In my opinion, a "true fan" will stick with his or her team through thick and thin. If you cant handle the bad years, football may not be a sport you should watch. Ask a Colts fan these days.
Every year, the same as before, I will get excited when the draft approaches and free agent signings will begin. I will get pumped up for the season, talk trash to my coworkers as if the Chiefs are Americas team (which I still believe) and give every ounce of support I can through my television or the game I do get to attend at Arrowhead.
One day I will no longer support the Chiefs.................here. I will be in Heaven with the two biggest fans I ever knew, my mom and dad!
So no matter what happens each and every year, with each and every coach, with each and every GM, I will always support the Chiefs through thick and thin.

Please help me understand, what is the difference in what Flowers did with the ball (using it as a prop in a celebration) and what Dez Bryant did in this clip yesterday? Flowers was penalized, Bryant was not. I just cant know the difference in my limited thought process!
Question: Do I understand that Palmer has been sitting out all year? If he is in fact "ready" as they say he might be, just how well could he play given that he hasnt thrown to the Raiders receivers before today and probably hasnt been throwing a whole lot period. (injury) I can see maybe next week, but just three days prep?

As naive as I may be at age 50, I cannot for the life of me figure out what changed from last season until now. I am not going to believe Charlie Weiss had that much of an effect on this team as a whole. I also do not believe Brian Waters departure has created that big of a hole in the locker room and moral department.
I just cannot come to grips with this situation. Was last year really a fluke? Were we just not that good and everyone we beat was just horrible? I'm not ready to get on any bandwagon to fire Haley or any other coaches, but holy cow, what gives?
I'd just like to be competitive at this point!
Lanier63
Wow, I just pulled up ArrowheadPride and it looks like the Chiefs lost to the Lions. What gives? Is this Monday already? My drinking aint THAT bad....
Lanier63
Ok, I admit we lost to the Bills....We lost our first home game of the season....everyone says Todd Haley sucks...all of them say Matt Cassel sucks....All the "experts" who commentate have painted the season black and have prepared our cemetery plot for the end of times, cause they have a job on TV and Radio, so they cant be wrong.
But, always remember this, I have stuck with this team through the worst of times before and by no means is this the worst of times. Go ahead and run to jump on another teams bandwagon, it doesn't bother me. Or stick around and wait till someone tells you, hey you were right about this guy or that guy after all, cause you are also an expert. Why you are not getting rich with your predictions in Vegas still intrigues me.
See me and the Chiefs got one thing in common. We are inseparable, and when its not OK to be a fan is when I smile the biggest. :)Go Chiefs!

So...with all that said now, where do you think our holes are remaining?
Lanier63
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 12 Buffalo Newspaper lead headline........................Tyler Thigpen "I really dont like the 2011 Chiefs defense!"
"For the most part, when you put up so few points on offense and their defense stop us every play, what good is that going to do at the end of the day? We go back and forth and every time they stop you on offense, and their defense stops us all the time, they're going to outscore you."
Lanier63
Im worried about this signing of McClain...With the real threat of Bowe, Baldwin, Breaston or Charles being able to score from anywhere on the field on a single play...McClain might not get any carries unless we are running time off the clock!
Lanier63
So how much paper work is gonna be done today starting at 5pm?
So how many guys are still here that played for Herm Edwards the last season he was head coach here? Not counting Casey W since he came back under Haley.
Lanier63
If we don't see some news today of a free agent agreement that fills a need immediately (eg. NT, ILB, Slot...) I am going to start feeling like the minutes right before and right after the Tyson Jackson draft pick. Is the same ole teams gonna get all the best free agents as usual and leave us to field a team with several holes with only draft picks and marginal free agent pick ups? I feel we were lucky last year with a few wins and teams know our modus operandi so they are going to be better prepared this year for us.
Lanier63
So just to get this skraight....We can possibly begin hearing names that have signed as early as 9am tomorrow? (Arrowhead time)
Lanier63
OH GREAT! Now I have to go back to dodging the Chief when he comes around unannounced and tries to catch me reading ArrowheadPride everyday!
Lanier63
Sources report, that as a big F.U. to Drew Brees and the rest of the NFL, Scott Pioli has decided to just sign EVERY available free agent when the period opens. Then HE will decide whom to trade to which teams!

So is Guinness Book of World Records ready to recognize these negotiations as the longest game of Battleship ever played? Cant you just see DeMaurice reacting to Goodell sinking his ship with "B-3"!
Lanier63
I actually have an easy way to settle this lockout: Pick one player from each team to go into Al Davis bedroom and stare at him naked. If all 32 players can stare at him for 32 minutes each without becoming violently ill, then the players win!
Sometimes it just takes a redneck approach to figure things out!
Lanier63
Simply Put...
I quite possibly could be the AP member with the lowest IQ on here. But I have actually been thinking (without a beer in hand) on this Lockout/Decertification matter. If someone would, please correct me on a couple of points:
- If the players walked away from the table and decertified as a union, then there is no union any longer.
- Now the players are all individuals representing themselves with the owners
- However, each player has a contract to play football for their repsective teams until the contract expires or is terminated
- The owners also have a employer/employee relationship with each player as most businesses do with employees not represented by a union
- There is no longer a need for a lockout and the owners get to keep all their profits, as any normal business owner does
- The players play for their compensation outlined in their contracts as each of us would in our respective jobs
- If they dont like it, then Burger King is hiring
Did I forget something?
Now why are we not carrying on with business as usual?
I now it isnt this simple, but with a simple mind, it sure seems like it should be.
Lanier63
With the 21st pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs trade their first round pick to the Arizona Cardinals for Larry Fitzgerald and the teams swap their second round picks.
My Bold Prediction
Lanier63
One WR, Three Offensive Linemen, One Defensive Tackle, A stud Center and One Stud ILB is what I think we should draft.
