Lookout Landing Standings in the AL West: Predictions for July

I took a gander at the schedules for Seattle, LA, and Texas from now until July 30th, when the Mariners start a series with the Rangers in Texas.  I used that info to predict where the Ms will be at that point.  My prediction:  Seattle moves up to 2nd place with a 1-2 game margin over Texas, but stays 3-4 games back of Los Angeles.

The most obvious thing is that Los Angeles has an easy schedule for the next 2 weeks, although they play 14 games straight.  Only the Twins are a winning team, and just barely.  Moreover they get to play 7 straight at home, and the Yankees can attest how hard it is to beat the Angels there, even with a 4 or 5 run lead.  Let's hope that Torii Hunter stays on the DL and the pitching continues to struggle a bit.  Because otherwise we could have a great 2 weeks and still lose ground to them.

Another thing to note is that Texas is playing 2 series against division leaders both of whom have good pitching.  Now both of those series are in Arlington, but both the Red Sox and the Tigers can win on the road.  Let's hope that the All-Star Game and Home Run Derby tired out Josh Hamilton, Michael Young, and Nelson Cruz.
