Why hello, my name is Daniel Lavender. I am a college student attending the University of Wisconsin Parkside, majoring in English. I am also currently a sports reporter for The Ranger News, my University's student paper, which is now an online news publication.
I grew up with open wheel racing. My father, who is from England, got me instantly addicted to Formula One, and the ever mighty Indy Cars of the day. As a awesome plus, my father works for Briggs and Stratton. So, at a real young age, I found myself attending many great sporting events in Wisconsin; many on behalf of the Briggs folks. I've been able to attend events held at Elkhart Lake, the Milwaukee Mile, the United States GP at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and, my all time favorite, the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Above all, I just love sports. I've grown up with Wisconsin sports, be it the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, or Admirals. I could never get enough of it.
So far, SBN has really helped me that much more in being the sports writer that I want to be. Frank, of PensBurgh, has really helped me in many aspects of that, as well as KLSnow, of BrewCrewBall, for letting me mock Anthony Witrado as much as I do. I'm a joker a lot of the time, but love getting down to the essentials of sport. I'm into this sports reporting gig now, and hope it becomes a career, I love it.
