Hey, I'm Daniel Lavender, and here's a bit about me.
I'm a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. I graduate this Spring with a degree in English and a certificate in Sports Management. I’ve worked as an Executive Editor and sports reporter for The Ranger News. I have also acted as a poetry editor for Straylight Literary Arts Magazine for the past year.
I joined The Ranger News in fall of 2009, which marked the start of our paper going from print to an online resource. I contributed a fair amount, from women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, and touched on a few different sport related topics as well.
Among some of the things I never thought I would do at college, I also tried my voice out in the broadcasting department. I was the color commentator for UW-Parkside Soccer games the past two years, and was given the nickname "the soccer guru." More importantly, I was the one wise-cracking the entire match!
If there's anything you should learn from college it's who you are, what your strengths are, and how hard you're willing to work for your dreams. Me, I've learned my share and will always be working hard. Dream or bust.
Cheers,
Daniel Lavender
