Behind the Steel Curtain Why I dislike Phil Simms

Morning everyone, I haven't posted on here in quite some time, but still find a way to read everyones great posts on a daily basis. Now I know we are all stinging pretty badly after yesterdays beatdown at the hands of our bitter rivals. BUT,one thing has me fuming even more then the game itself. And that was the color commentary of Phil Simms. I know alot of broadcasters seem to have a hatred or general dislike of the Steelers, but some of his comments yesterday (coupled with the gameplay), cause me to turn my TV off early in the fourth quater and walk away. Three main expamples of this stand out to me right now.

Behind the Steel Curtain Galloway and Retkofsky

So just read on Steelers.com that we have signed Galloway to replace Sweed and Retkofsky to replace Warren. The Retkofsky signing was expected, as he filled in for Warren last year and did a perfectly fine job. A little curious about the Galloway signing. Hopefuly Gresham will get to see the field and get a chance at the #4 reciever, liked the kids hands coming out of college. Galloway chose NE over us early on, and didnt last but a few weeks. Anyone think he will see the field, and if so make a difference at all?

Behind the Steel Curtain Could we use Townsend in place of Troy temporarily?

Just wanted to throw this thought out there. I was thinking about this today at work and personally feel it could work, and that despite his age that Townsend is a better option the Tyrone Carter. There was talk early on of Deshea getting work at safety, to possibly prolong his career, with William Gay ultiamtely supplanting him this season. I think with Troy being out 3-4 games, that Deshea could handle the likes of Chicago,Cinci, and even SD better then Carter. So I just wanted to throw it out there and get everyone elses thoughts and opinions, seeing as how I havent seen this possible idea tossed around anywhere yet.

I have the tailgate club passes, and would be kinda cool to hang out with someone other then just the girlfriend. So just let me know.

Behind the Steel Curtain Fernando Bryant----WHY?!?!?!?

Just read the bad news (in my opinion), on ProFootballTalk.com. Apparently we have resigned the 11 year veteran to a one year deal. As of now, no financial terms have be released. Now I know we need depth at CB with Bmac leaving, but why on earth did we have to go with Bryant? There were other better veteran CB's on the market left out there, and this guy didnt do much to impress in his little playing time last year. Hopefully we will still draft a CB in one of the first three rounds and Bryant will be a camp casuality and he is only serving as an insurance policy at this point. Sorry just kind of wanted to vent my frustrations on this.

Behind the Steel Curtain Steelers Workout Shipley

Just read on the Tribune-Review that the Steelers are bringing in Penn State center, AQ Shipley for a private workout at South Side. Personally I would love to see this kid in the black'n'gold. He is somewhat undersized at 6'1" and about 305lbs, but have read that he draws alot of comparision to Mike Webster. Plus he is a local kid, who has a desire to play for the Steelers, sounds like my kinda guy. He is predicted to go anywhere from rounds 3 through 6, so I am thinking our third round comp pick (pending we get one), if not take him in the fouth. This would also eliminate the need or want to take Alex Mack in the first, opening up alot of other options. Only problem I have with the whole thing is that we have Doug Legursky sitting on the practice squad at nearly the same size and potential.

Behind the Steel Curtain Ravens Sign Carr

Just curious if anyone else had seen this. But on ProFootballTalk.com they are reporting that the Ravens Signed Chris Carr whom we just had in for a visit to a 2yr/$5mil contract. Which sucks I really wanted this guy. I mean I personally think we could have found a way to pony up the money, but again I trust our FO and hope that we can draft DB depth and hopefully a return man that can take it past the 20.
