Evaluate the D line
So far I have asked POD to evaluate the secondary and LB units. I have determined for the most part that the Lions need 1 CB, 1 saftey, and a linebacker. We can discuss the best coarse to fill needs once we have determined what we feel the most pressing needs are.
The next unit up for discussion is the D-line. This seems to be a hot topic on the boards as far as do we need better DTs for pressure, or do we need better DEs. So take a look at the stats and draw your conclusions. Whom do you like, and whom do you want to see replaced. Do you want new starters and use last years starters as backups, or do you want a player released altogether.
As I said, once we go through all the units, I will put up a post to discuss how to fill the needs we feel the Lions have.
Evaluate The LBs
I really didn't think this area would make much of a topic. However, the more I thought about it, there are some questions to consider here. Do the Lions re-sign Foote? If they don't, does Levy step in and start at MLB, or do we hunt for another starter? Is Sims a good choice for WLB? ( For the sake of arguement, we are not trading Sims. If you aren't comfortable with him starting, tell me how you want him replaced. It is to hard to know if another team would accept the trade anyone dreams up.)
It is true we have some depth at the LB spots, but if we lose Foote, and have Sims, Levy, and Peterson start, who is there left for good depth? Here is the list of LBs. Who do you want to stay, who do you want to go, and how do ou want the voids filled?
Evaluate The Secondary
So many mocks flying around and we haven't really decided whom we feel the Lions should keep, and whom we feel should hit the road. So I thought I would post some stats for reference on a specific area of the Lions team and see how we feel about who should stay and who should go.
I started with the secondary just because we had so many problems in that area. Not to mention, I am no expert in this area and would like to hear everyones thoughts on this area. I know the Lions struggled big time in the secondary this season so lets take a look at how each player did statistic wise.
The P.O.D. Christmas Carol
I thought I would start a happy holidays post to all my fellow Lions fans on the site. I hope all of you have a safe, blessed, joyful time with whatever you may be doing over the next few days. Heres hoping good ol Saint Nick brings a little Christmas cheer to a Lions team that is way overdue for some.
Finally, I leave you with a X-mas carol. Yea, its a bit corny, but you never know when a gift might fall into your lap. Lets hope it happens this year to our beloved Lions.

Grades for 2009 draft choices so far.
I was bouncing around the internet and found an article grading the 2009 draft choices. Thought it was a pretty far analysis of how the new guys are doing thus far on the Lions. I think I might be a little more critical of a couple of these guys but all in all, it was a good writeup. I am curious to know if my fellow POD posters agree with his writing or if you have a different assessement of any or all of the rookies. Heres the link and my thoughts after the jump. LINK
