Rams: a QB or Suh?

I'm one of the writer's over at Buc 'Em, SBNation's Tampa Bay Bucs' blog and we were having a discussion about whether or not you guys would draft the DT Nakdjflkdsjfklfj (I kid, I kid) Suh, out of Nebraska. Some of the guys (myself included) feel that this is the year that you guys finally pull the trigger on a legit first round QB, while others feel that Spagnuolo, being a defensive guy, will take Suh.

Just thought we would come over and get the opinion of the fan base and see which way you think they are leaning. This is the first time that many of us have actually wished our team would lose the rest of their games, but I think most of us feel that this season is a lost cause and Suh is the 2nd coming of Warren Sapp. Now that Cleveland has helped us out by taking down the much maligned Steelers, we would also appreciate it if your Rams could take all the guessing out of the situation and get a win!

First let me congratulate CyKaz for winning our last caption contest. It totally slipped my mind to put a story up to announce his victory. We had a close one, but eventually he bested me by a three vote margin. Congrat CyKaz, please contact Niko for your prize.

Alrighty then, I think by this point in time most of us know what the deal here is gentlemen. Here's a refresher for those of you that have been living under a rock for the past month or so. The Buc'Em Weekly Caption Contest is simply a contest to see who can come up with the funniest caption for the picture provided. If you like a caption and find it humorous, please "Rec" the caption to vote for it to go the next round for a voting poll. The top five captions make it. You can enter as many captions as you like, and please feel free to Rec as many captions as you like.

My Dream Draft

So, I was talking it over with a friend last night (after we watched his ex-girlfriend do a drunken cartwheel and face plant herself into his car's front tire. Told you it was going on Bucem dude. haha) and I stated what my dream scenario would be for the first three picks in this year's draft. So here goes...

With the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Ndkdjakldjkdjkjd (I didn't want to take the time to look up the spelling, but I'm pretty sure it is fairly equivalent to this) Suh from the University of Nebraska.

The kid is a stud. No doubt about it. Put me on the bandwagon. When was the last time a defensive tackle was considered for a Heisman?

With our first pick in the 2nd round I would advocate immediately grabbing Taylor Mays, or even Patrick Robinson (we do need another CB too), but unfortunately we have to deal with reality, and both these secondary players will be long gone. I think we should take Major Wright here. He is only a junior but he has been a solid three year starter. As long as he runs his 40 in the 4.4 range he will go in 2nd round so why not take him?

With the Bears pick I would like us to address the receiver position and please, please, please pick Mardy Gilyard. The kid is electrifying and we haven't had a receiver with his speed and elusiveness for as long as I can remember. He is a big play goldmine (think Desean Jackson). Bryant, Benn, and LaFell will all be gone here. I would love to see him in Pewter, but if can't have him I wouldn't mind drafting Golden Tate either.

Well, I think all of these picks have a legitimate possibility of happening and I think they will all be available at this point in time. So go ahead guys, what is your dream draft with our first three picks in 2010?

Alright boys and girls. Here we go. These are the top five captions submitted this week. I didn't include Paul's, as it was a re-wording of mine. So since there were only three submissions with three or more Recs, I selected two captions with only two Recs to make it to the finals. Hey, running this thing has to have some perks right?

Mike McKenzie and Chris McCalister

I don't know about you guys but after watching Mike McKenzie and Chris McCalister play extremely well for the New Orleans Saints last night, I've got a hard time believing that having added one or both of them at some point this season wouldn't have made us a better football team.

They were both still free agents until three weeks ago. I mentioned something in the preseason about how I thought we should bring in one of them to play the nickel, or maybe even start as the #2 corner and slide Ronde to nickel, but the general consensus seemed to be that both players were washed up. Well, after last night I think we can throw that theory out the window. McKenzie, in particular, looked great.

Obviously we weren't the only ones that passed on them, but you gotta ask yourself why we didn't bring them in for some depth at least. One or both of them could most likely convert to safety pretty easily and would be an improvement over Sabby. I don't know, it was just bothering me last night. Does anyone else feel that our front office should have brought these guys in to help make us more competitive?

Hello Bucs fans. Due to an overwhelming outpouring of email (at last count I had received one) I am going to move up the Caption Contest this week since we didn't do one over the holiday weekend. Congratulations are in order for Buc Wild, who won last week's contest with his witty caption about the treadmarks on Chris Hovan's face. Thank you to Niko for providing the picture for this week's contest.

As always, let's keep it clean gentlemen (and ladies? Do we have any female readers?). If you have a question about whether or not a caption is acceptable please email either myself (lcaz319@yahoo.com) or Niko. The Buc 'Em user that wins the contest will receive any Bucs' game of his/her choice on DVD.

They also sign WR Terrence Nunn from Patriots practice squad. In order to make room for Nunn, cornerback Mike Mickens was released. He was recently acquired from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad. Apparently we are trying to find some diamonds in the rough.
