I have been a Fin Fan since I was about 10 yrs old. I was born and raised in south FLA. As a boy, I met and played ball with many of the '72 Fins, as part of the Big Bros organization and was hooked.

But what's really hard to imagine is the clock moving close to the Sunday opener and Peterson's name even being raised. That's Parcells' doing. Why didn't he announce this a month ago? Or two months? What triggered Tuesday's announcement to add this to the legitimate football questions going on in Davie (Will Allen? Sean Smith? The offense?) Parcells is a big, strong, good force inside this team. Everyone says so. Veteran safety Yeremiah Bell says he, "might be the smartest person I ever met" for how he talks and educates on football points. He's not alone. Williams. Cobbs. Rookie Jared Odrick said, "I really get a lot out of talks with him." But Tuesday's announcement was flat strange. It smacked of exactly what he has spent a career guarding against. Maybe it's not much of a distraction. But in the week of the opener, was it really necessary?

Dolphins cut OLB Charlie Anderson; sign ILB Bobby Carpenter

Per Omar Kelly on Twitter: "The Dolphins have released Charlie Anderson to make room for recently signed Bobby Carpenter, who is a strong special teams contributor." Cutting Anderson saves Miami from having to pay him $2.2 million. Anderson has posted just five sacks in his last 32 games. Carpenter will likely be the Fins nickle backer; the role they had envisioned for rookie A.J. Edds prior to his season ending injury.

"We all know to win in this game you have to be able to run the ball," Ratliff said, "and they have two of the best running backs in the game. Then they have a physical offensive line, and on defense they added Karlos Dansby to shore things up in the middle. By Week 8 Jason Ferguson should come back, so they should be able to make a run in their conference."

Two things that stood out to Ricky Williams from Dolphins practices: With Mike Nolan as coordinator, ``the defense is a lot more aggressive, and that makes the offense work harder.'' Also, ``Pat White, no question, is our most improved player. He's a quarterback now.''

Out of all of the players, Ricky tends to say exactly what he thinks, so I would give this a bit of credibility... eh?

I think that one of the biggest rookie developments in minicamps this spring has been rookie linebacker Koa Misi running with the first team of the Miami Dolphins. I love this cat. Misi was a star at Utah and will thrive under new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan. Miami said good-bye to both Jason Taylor and Joey Porter this offseason, yet the team believes they are better on defense. I happen to agree with this assessment. Misi proved worthy of being a first-teamer. I think he will shock the world with close to eight sacks and a Brian Orakpo-like effect on the Dolphins. His veteran teammates raved about his performance.

Adam Schein at Fox Sports lists Koa Misi as the #1 rookie surprise at spring mini-camps.
