For those of you following the program more closely that I've had the opportunity to this offseason, how has Sherrod Harris looked?

I'm not surprised I guess that Gilbert came in at #2 on the QB depth chart, but since he's been in the program now for a while and with JC going to receiver, thought this would be his chance to be the solid #2.

Is he having trouble running the offense? Gilbert just a superior athlete? Just wondering...seems to be a fine kid.

Tim Tebow is awesome - let's just get that out of the way.

I really admire the guy. Makes me wonder what the hell I was doing at 21 (most likely, spending too many nights playing Quarters in the washroom with my buds...).

But I just don't get it - there's been all this talk in the last 24 hours about Tebow being the Greatest College Football Player in History. And not one time - ONE TIME! Did I hear anyone mention Vince Young.

Ok, so maybe I'm somewhat biased, but I just don't see how you can watch that 2006 Rose Bowl tape and tell me you've seen anyone better than VY was on that day.

And it's not just that one day of course (preaching to the choir here) - there's 2 1/2 years of evidence behind that!

Props to Tebow - hell of a player - fantastic leader - even better person - he just isn't better than Vince Young.

Funny how as time moves on, "the past" gets closer and closer each day - I used to think 15-20 years ago was "the past"...nowadays, I guess 3 years qualifies...

Ohio State loses to USC early without Beanie Wells…they play Penn State close with a True Freshman QB who’s got less than 5 games experience…but, they get no credit for being an improved team between the Penn St. game and the Fiesta Bowl…meanwhile (and ironically), USC gets credit for their “Blowout” win vs. Ohio St., plus a very strong win at the Rose Bowl over Penn St. to possibly claim some #1 votes…

Oklahoma loses to us 45-35 on a neutral field, but it doesn’t matter at the end of the season since OU got “style” points for laying 60+ points on everyone after the RRR…they get credit for “being a better team since the Texas game”. And the Human Voters vault them into the Big 12 Championship and MNC Game…

Texas then defeats Ohio St. in thrilling fashion in the Fiesta Bowl – however, it’s not a “good” win. Why? Because it was over the Ohio St. team that lost 35-3 to USC (and, btw, lost in the last two MNC games), not the Ohio St. team that played Penn St. close and showed improvement the rest of the year.

All depends on your pespective or agenda, I guess…

At least at the end of the day, we represented the Big 12 South!

Lots of cussin’ & discussin’ on Big 12 vs. SEC vs. Big 10 (and throw in Utah) over the next few weeks…

Just a little something to "Get Your Horns Up"...

As the NFL season moves forward, it's interesting to note on how some of the players from USC and Texas that played in the '06 Rose Bowl have fared in the Pros to date:

USC - Leinart strugg-gling in Arizona, Bush having flashes of Brilliance as a pass receiver, but not so much as an RB, and Winston Justice of the Eagles getting lit up by the Giants' D-Line last night.

Texas - VY is the QB playing the best out of the 2006 QB Rookies, Michael Griffin coming on strong in Tennessee, Selvin Young playing well in Denver.

The talent will always be there. Here's to hoping this year's crop can turn it around Saturday at the RRS. Go Horns!

Just thinking about something the other day...

As far as the Big 3 Men's Sports are concerned, I don't know that there's been a better time in UT's history where the Football, Basketball, and Baseball teams have been consistently ranked high in the National Polls and the Head Coaches have been so higly regarded.

The closest I can come is maybe the DKR/Akers, Gustafson, and Lemon era in the late 70's ('77 football team - #1 Prior to ND Loss in '78 Cotton Bowl, '75 Baseball Team - CWS Title, '78 Basketball team - NIT Title).

Awesome to be a Longhorn these days...as if it isn't Awesome every day!!!

Thoughts?

I heard a report on ESPN Radio / ESPN News on XM Radio earlier today that Philip Rivers injured his foot during the San Diego Charger's loss to the New England Patriots 2 weekends ago. He's thinking of pulling out of the Pro Bowl.

If that's the case, isn't VY the First Alternate QB to go in his stead?

With all regards to Rivers, that would awesome if Vince gets to go.

Anyone else hear about this?

Spotted this article on the College Football News website this morning.

http://www.collegefootballnews.com/2006/Rankings/PrePreSeason_NationalTitleContenders.htm

Seems to be more in line with our thinking vs. what we've seen on ESPN.

I thought the analysis was fairly good overall. This is one of the few articles that I feel correctly assesses the 'Horns changes next year for the Fiesta Bowl.
