Is this the proper place to post my second day of recovery thoughts? After the last game, I gave myself Monday off from posting because my head wasn't in the right place. So, here I am and the world is still orbiting the Sun, coffee still tastes great, and my Phins are still alive. We've seen these ugly Jets/Phins games in the past and they've occurred when we were a good team and when we were a bad team, so the fact that we left a funk on the field is not all that new in this rivalry. What leaves me hope is that, while we played ugly against a supposedly better team, we weren't blown out. Some would say that's because of the Jets' ineptitude - I agree to a certain extent, but offer these rays of light: Our run D continues to force the passing game out of our opponent's offense and there's a glimpse of hope that we are turning the corner in the forcing turnovers game --- hopefully it is a sign of things to come. A question mark is the pass rush, of course, so if we can get that going, this could be a top-tier defense. Tannehill hasn't awed me with his numbers, yet, but he has impressed me with his decision making. Yes, the pick-6 was horrible and he missed some opportunities this last game, but he is not consistently making horrible decisions. I know, not sexy, but it is something to build on. He drove us into scoring position in the 4th quarter and overtime three different times. Yes, we only got 3 points out of that, but once again, something to build on. The O-Line is getting better, in my opinion, in run blocking and pass protection. They are getting scary chunks of yards on the run and as Tannehill learns better pocket awareness, this is going to be a top-notch unit. Lamar Miller and J. Lane Thunderball are further ahead than I thought they would be at this time of year. They're both playing like the NFL is their backyard. We all know about Miller's pass protection and his potential miscues on understanding all the plays, but his natural ability to get to the hole and in space can not be disputed. Lane, of course, is the man. I like the minds of Philbin, Sherman, and Coyle and they are all learning what to do with who they have. We want to win, of course, but I think these guys are all smart enough to figure it out as we progress. Yes, I have faith in them and not simply because I am a 'Phins fan, but because we are rebuilding and yet we are competitive; they are getting a lot from these players and that says a lot about the coaches. Ok, I left out a lot of the negative stuff because I already felt that myself and read it elsewhere. We are rebuilding, have a young QB, new coaches, new system, and the kool aid may not be a sexy cherry flavor, yet, but sugar doesn't just fall out of the sky, you know? If you are displeased I knocked a potentially great fanshot down the listing with my post-game rant, all I can say is my neighbors won't let me yell this out of my window because their dogs start howling to refute my silliness! Go 'Phins!

Recent Omar Kelly tweets about Nanee are very confusing, can you help me? OmarKelly@ThatDBSwag26 Is there a reason I haven't seen Legedu Naanee at all?" He's in the Tannehill protection program. NO CHEMISTRY. OmarKelly Legedu Naanee has no catches in 2 games. Does that mean he needs to become the fan base's new whipping boy? OmarKellyOmarKelly Miami's one special team TD doesn't happen without Naanee. Your dominance running is assisted by Naanee. But he needs to do more as a WR. OmarKelly I'm VERY aware Dolphins fans have a stiffy right now for Legedu Naanee. Truth is he's not good now, but the witch hunt isn't justified. OmarKelly RT @landonmccool: I can't believe Ireland hasn't hired you as a scout yet… You NAILED that evaluation of Naanee!" I also nailed your momma Ok, so, wow, where to begin? First, the biggest point he makes FOR Naanee was the special teams block for Thigpen's return and yes, that was awesome and did help to spring the return. The play was also possible because of 2 other blocks by other players and, well, yes, Thigpen himself did a nifty job on the return, too. So, yes, Naanee's block was pivotal. His second point FOR Naanee is his assistance in the run game. Now, I've seen some good blocking by him and some not-so-good blocking. So, let's give him the benefit of the doubt and say that Nannee is an above average to good run blocking WR. I'll concede that without even doing a tremendous amount of research. His third point FOR Naanee is that he has ZERO catches in two games, but that doesn't mean Nannee should be the fans' new whipping boy. Well, I also recall a fairly minimal amount of catches by him in the preseason, too, so if you make zero catches in two games and your biggest contribution has been a key block on a return and support during running plays, that makes you a what? A starting WR in the NFL or a fringe WR in the NFL that is hanging on by a thread? As far as whipping boy goes, that's Omar's term, not mine. So, let's get this straight, Omar agrees that Naanee doesn't have chemistry with Tanny, even though he had the entire off season to build that chemistry, that Naanee isn't a good WR now (at the age of 29), and that Naanee has to do more as a WR, but can't understand the negativity toward the player? What does it take for Omar to see that while Naanee may be a cool person and a good special teams player, that doesn't mean we HAVE TO want him on our team. Especially when he was listed as a starter on this team. And, since Omar apparently nails the mothers of those who tweet him, I will inform my mom that an angry Miami Dolphins beat writer may be lurking nearby. Thoughts?

So, we stumbled out of the gate, but I can tell you that I still feel better about this team than I have in years. Why? Good question and thank me for asking. I feel good about this team because we're young, our Coach is a realist, our rookie QB seems like he knows the game and just has to adjust to it, we've got gamers in the RB group, our DL looks like it will be beastly, again, and I'm thinking our new offensive scheme, once fully learned and accentuated by the right players, will be explosive. So, no, I don't like losing, but, yes, I'm a homer and feel good about where this ride is going. Who's with me? Who's against me? And who's just angry about their own life so they can't give a proper perspective about our team?

For those of you giving Ireland a pass for the Parcells years, are you also going to not give him credit for the Philbin/Sherman influence? In other words, the drafting of Tannehill and the possible additions of Lane/Fuller (Sherman coached them) and the rejection of Flynn (Philbin) were transactions that took place under Ireland’s time, but certainly were heavily influenced by Sherman and Philbin. I know Ireland was interested in Tannehill before Sherman and Philbin were brought in, but I have serious doubts as to whether we would have drafted Tannehill if it weren’t for Sherman and, in fact, we probably would have ended up with Flynn. I know this is all speculation, but that’s the game we play on these blogs, anyhow, so - how much credit are you going to give Ireland if Tannehill, Lane, and Fuller all work out and Flynn is a bust? Discuss amongst ourselves.

Upon further review, I have changed my mind about Dansby's statement to the press about Chad Johnson. I don't agree with what he said, but I now respect what he had to say due to his actions on Hard Knocks to talk to Philbin about the Leadershp Committee. To me, Dansby wasn't blasting management, he was ultimately trying to communicate a need on the team for players being leaders to other players and having an open conversation with the coaches. I respect that. He wasn't just mouthing off as I originally thought he was. So, Carlos, I apologize and hope that you and the other leaders on this team can get us moving in the right direction.

Does Moore's inability to be consistent in practice hurt the development of the rest of the offense??

I keep hearing Moore is a gamer, that he is much better in games than he is in practice, but my question is, how is he ever to improve and grow as a QB if he is a poor practice QB AND how is the...

Which lowly teams, besides us, would draft a QB in the 1st round?

A question I keep asking myself is, with all the QBs taken in the first round last year, what team, besides the 'Phins, would be after Luck or any other top tier QB in the draft of '12? Of the...
