I wonder how Krstic feels
Actually, I wonder how Perk feels. I mean the guy must be wishing us to lose the championship after this. I doubt he doesn't regret not signing contract extension, perhaps we can see him back in green next season. Tho I feel really bad for Nate. He made the team fun. Now who's gonna dunk over Shaq? KG perhaps?!
However, there's a curse that remains in Boston: All players must suffer long-term injuries! (Wafer seems immune to it for some reason, he must be living in New York or something)
So, how long will it take for Krstic to get injured?
SF for the next year and years to come
Yes, it's draft talk.
Reading all those posts made me think what we're gonna do for the next year. Yeah, we'll have Pierce and Daniels recovered. But they'll be looking to play less time, especially as they'll have new injuries to deal with. We got Bradley, Nate and Rondo to cover PG. Wafer, Nate (when Rondo's healthy), and Allen (we'll have him for a loong long time) to cover SG position. Jermaine, Davis and Garnett will stick around for at least 1 more year, tho that position worries me slightly as well. As for C... Well Erden is, in my opinion, a lot more useful player than Shaq. So we got 5 covered, KP, Erden and Shaq if he decides it's not enough and re-signs. That leaves us on SF. Two 30+ year olds with no proper substitute (or no substitute at all) who are very much injury-prone. Lasme is questionable, as he missed out plenty games (not sure if he's still injured or not) in the D-league, but even with him on the team, will we really count on him in 2-3 years? I don't think so. So I'm thinking we need a drafted player, who will just like Rondo, become one of the leagues best players, that will stick with the team that drafted him for many, many years. A player like that, playing SF, might be available this year actually. His name is Jan Vesely, and he's currently in Partizan Belgrade, playing in Europe. He was supposed to be on the draft last year but he decided it'd be wiser to develop his game even further and stay in Europe for another year (and wise it turned out to be). He may not be a shooter like Pierce, but neither is Daniels. Except Jan is... imho a better player than Daniels (well, of course, in the form of him adapted to NBA type of play). You can read (and see) some stuff about him here http://www.nbadraft.net/players/jan-vesely except for some facts. He came to Partizan as a 17 or 18 year old, from Czech Republic. And this club has an insane and mad coach (who got called in by Spurs for 'observation' and coaching younger players), and he tends to make great players from zeroes. He threw skinny, tall, even dumb-looking Jan into starting lineup for Partizan's first Euroleague match of the season, and ever since he hasn't missed a game. That guy's got an amazing talent, and really is a fast learner. Afterall, it took him only one game in Euroleague to learn how to play it. And, same as Lasme, his defensive abilities are insane, coming from one of the best defensive clubs in Europe. So, developing his game under right influence (of Ray offensively, Garnett defensively and Rivers overal..ly) will not take much time. Many people, experts or not, predict he'll take the best rookie title. And no, I'm not really a big fan of this club, it's just that watching him play here was amazing, and imho Celtics would really miss out on a great opportunity here.
Also, from the video you can see that he'll probably be entering the Slam Dunk contest real soon.
Season high
I was just wondering, since no one seems to be talking about it, can we really go 18-20 from this point on? I mean... 10 losses with more than half huge games already wrapped and sent back home. Yah, I'm jinxing it, but I just remembered all those talks about Miami losing 0 games this year, (well I remember that every time I need something to cheer me up and laugh like a little girl) and I thought that we may even end up as the #1 team in both conferences. I see SAS getting tired and starting, slowly, to rest for the playoffs, I don't see Lakers picking up the pace, I don't see Miami beating us in either of the next 2 games, and I don't see Orlando being much of a 100% wins until the rest of the regular season team. And then you look at the C's. PP hasn't gotten injured yet, meaning he'll be more careful, KG already got over his own annual 2-3 week injury, Ray is Ray, Rondo got his problems worked out and he's a brand new jet fighter anyway, JO and Shaq... Well I don't see how they can get worse from past 3-4 months. Delonte's gonna be picking up the pace when he returns (crap, what if he gets injured on the first game after re-coming back?), KP43 is gonna be earning his #1 spot as the team's center.
Yeah, it's completely unimportant, since the C's struggle in each game, disregarding the opponent's name varying from Miami to Cleveland, so we don't really care who we get in the first rounds of playoffs. But how many people said the C's are done for this year? And how much will we all smile/laugh/call them pretty names when we finish as the #1 team in both Eastern and Western conference?
Help me understand this..
I haven't been following NBA more than 2 years, and this blog for not more than year. And a thing that just keeps on popping up is this term "lockout". "Lockout next year!"
So can someone explain to me what -lockout- means, since I have neither intelligent nor stupid guess? It seems pretty evil and sounds like Stern is mildly killing all NBA teams with... that thing, what ever it is. Thanks in advance.
Perk
No, it ain't about his injury, no it's not 'bout his play, or about Shaq/Jermaine issue. I know nobody's ever seen Perk smile at a game, but I was just wondering, does he do that at practices? I'm asking this because I've never seem him smile, let alone laugh, and I've just seen "The Association" and... Perk LAUGHED!!! Spent the next 20 minutes just thinking how freaky it was...
-Gonna go watch it again now.
Kobe 2008?
I know, this has nothing to do with Miami Heat, or our current form, or anything related to us, basketball or anything anyone ever cared about in Boston. I just wanted to know if this video is real or not: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Dcv9qzWrps If anyone has any info or has seen this video or... Whatever, could you... ENLIGHTEN (!) me?
Seriously, the jump is... kind of fake. I mean, there's no way he'd run up to the pool like that and jump so slowly to end up flying at the speed of 300 mph to the basket. And as for the car, it seems to me as he stayed in the air a bit too long, even for such a player as himself. But seriously, when he reached the max height, it seemed as he's going down, then he just stays in the air for another half a second in absolutely perfect position?.. Nah.
Tho the thing that creeps me out is, why would Kobe do something stupid as fake something like that. It's not like he needed it or something.
I'm in need of assistance!
Last night's game, Glen Davis got injured and sat on the bench. Some 10-15 minutes later (approximately) camera shows him sitting on the bench with 2 paper clips stuck up his nose. But he had that zombie face on, like he's having a stroke... I've tried looking for it on google and yahoo, and some galleries on our sites but... Can't find it. If someone remembers when exactly the camera caught him, can you give me a link for the video, or any tips where to search for the pic or... anything! >< I really, really need it for some project of mine!
Perfect position?
Last season there was a number of us saying the C's will start playing ball in the playoffs, and there was a number of people saying the C's are done for because of... Well the world record in double digit leads resulted in losing the game. So are the C's going to do the same as last year - be neglective to the regular season knowing they're gonna end up in the playoffs anyhow, or are they going to try and break the 2007/08 record? Personally it seems to me as they'll have a lot to work on at the start, as the entire style of play has changed, and yet I can't figure out if that means they're gonna play like lions each game or just play the game of basketbricks, like they did with Sheed... (again, in the regular season)
Assuming the Heat and Orlando will take first two spots in the East this year (regular season speaking). Perhaps Knicks grab the 3rd. Chicago say takes 4th or we take the 4th. Is that the way we want it to go? Just like the last season? So do we want to be competing with, say Bucks or Chicago in the first round of playoffs (again assuming they'd take 5th, 6th, and we take 4th or 3rd place), or perhaps they'll want to shine in some of their last remaining years and prove that dinosaurs can sometimes hold the top? In that case I'm not sure how much steam they'll have left for the playoffs, but the road to eastern semi's, or even finals will be a lot easier.
Self-respect exaggeration
Lakers are a team that won this year's NBA championship title. They are one of the best teams in the world (well after they get rested and after they heal the so many injuries they speak of). But their fans are just amazing. They say that they're causing NBA apocalypse. They're the beasts. They are calling their own players who've been stuck to them for a decade traitors for desire to move to other team and the players who don't announce it the "Real King(s)". So I was wondering, would you/we/us/C's would be just like the Lakers fans if we had won this championship?
Here's what I'm talking about: (well this and quite a lot of comments in their fan posts, but I think this just sums it all up pretty nicely)
http://www.silverscreenandroll.com/2010/7/10/1562844/derek-fisher-friend-or-foe
http://www.silverscreenandroll.com/2010/7/9/1560844/stray-bullets-lebrons-decision-was
http://www.silverscreenandroll.com/2010/7/8/1560099/blame-the-lakers-for-the-nba
And what amazes me the most, they don't give a crap about the fact that their team won't change at all, except the fact that after Fisher leaves, they're left with the big two, and big two halves they call Odom and Artest. They got no reinforcements for the next season, although all their rivals are getting quite well prepared for the next season... Is it possible that we'd be just like that if we had won this championship?
Here's a crazy idea
That might not be too crazy. Shelden, Daniels and Nate for Stojakovic? That guy's still shooting threes like mad, and is never going to stop. Solid defense (we could say Sheed had no defense when he arrived and look at him now), and he's 33. Not much time left for him, so he'll try doing his best now. Imagine him being on a team that has the power to win the title. Do you think he'd be a beast, shooting the best he can in his last attempt to grab the ring, or just a fail, ending up as Sheed - shooting bricks and doing great job in defense?
I live for the day when Kobe retires
Or, God forbid, gets assassinated, which will make him give up on the Lakers before retiring.
What will happen in, say 2-3 years. Kobe's form starts to drop. His jumper becomes a window-breaking brick, not a buzzerbeater. His magnificent performance from 2010 Finals against the Celtics gets forgotten except by Jack... And Hoffman. Will he remain with the club? Will he get traded or left for free agency? Will he become a bench player? I'm not even joking here, even though I have a smile on my face. Being non-American, I can only assume that he'll be dumped as that's what West Coast does (again, assuming, I don't really know, it's just the movies), but do you think he'll be fought for, like we're fighting for Sheed and Ray Ray?
So was this the pressure?
What happened with Ray and Garnett out there that night? Ok, Ray was all over the place, but a sharpshooter missing so badly in.. how many games in row? Too many. And those were perhaps the most important games ever. But okay, let's say he just lost the handle. I mean one day, I go hit 30 threes in row, and the next day I miss 50 free throws in row (exaggerating, yes I am). But Garnett? I can't imagine what the guy feels like. As I said numerous times before, there have been only a fistful of people who loved the game more than he does, and he's had been showing it since over a decade ago. But last night was a disaster. That freakish body of his, that funny but incredible shot with a beautiful arc, it was all stopped by a big foot. A guy who could guard 3 players at the same time, guy who Doc let control the defense, was harassed by Gasol. Ok, Gasol is an above average player, but not greater than Kevin Garnett. KG is aware of that, Gasol is aware of that, fans are aware of that. So imagine what KG feels like right now. The guy must be killing himself (not because of last night, but because of the whole series... except that one game, which we lost anyway).
Is he done? Is Ray done? Is this really the end of the Big Three as we know it (well Pierce is far from done...), which would perhaps turn into a "HoF bunch? Or do you think they've got some juice in them left for another run and another try?
The pressure
I've been following Celtics only since 13 months ago. But in the meantime I've read a lot of stories about them, about each player. Now, reading the other comments, I just can't understand how can you people be so relaxed. Ok, 2 years ago it was the same, but... Two years ago everyone saw the Celtics as the champions. They weren't the underdogs. Two years ago, Lakers were in Boston, trying to stay alive. Two years ago Allen wasn't announcing a departure to Miami. Doc was nowhere near done. KG was at his prime. The whole next season might bring us the new Celtics. The team we know might be over with forever. It's why in my head, what's about to happen in an hour seems like a huge judgement day, like something that's never happened before but it's had its copies.
I feel so nervous, and... Imagine what they feel like. Imagine what's going through their heads right now. All there's left for them to do is play that one perfect game. A combination of games they played against Cleveland when a new star was finally at his prime, showing what he can do, games against Cleveland where against all odds, the Senior Citizen Bunch was unstoppable, playing for the love of the game. Games in which Ray and Pierce kept the team in the game until a speck of imagination of our Captain holding the trophy was provided by the bench. Games in which the smallest and the biggest guy, who everyone considered a joke, played a 2v5 basketball. All that should, must, and can be put into the one game. But the question is will the pressure allow it? It's all about their mentality. But, let's not think about that. Use the time we have left to remember this team of 2007, 2008, and the team that will play this game. And yes, I'm so proud of this team, proud to be a Celtics fan, although I don't live anywhere near Boston. As the matter of fact, I don't even live near the American continent.
Good luck to all, and may the power of the clover be with us.
Can he improve?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWNP3M6XQ74
Is this his top? Of course, he still has a lot to work on his jump shots, but in some games he shoots incredibly. So, let's say he'll improve his jump shots, and when he does - is that his top? Or can he improve? Right now, he's looking great, and I have no idea what would his improved game look like (except shooting 100% from out of the paint). Any ideas?
Funny is funny...
http://www.silverscreenandroll.com/2010/6/3/1499387/who-lands-the-first-punch-lakers
Read the first line, and tell me that his math isn't funny. I'm sorry if this is offensive somehow, but... Hell, I couldn't resist, funny is funny! (XDXD)
/for those who don't get it: 3 hours and 15 minutes equal to 3 times 60 minutes plus 15 minutes being 195 minutes. Not 205.
P.S. I sort of feel bad doing this to a professional blogger (if... that's what they're called, I'm not sure) but it's Lakers...
Told you Wallace will get over 20 points in at least one game
Except, Rondo was in second by scoring. Not bad, seeing his lack of points in last couple of games. But from now on, Rajon, please stay on low scoring - it wins us games. Pierce was... Around. I think SVG told his guys to leave Pierce open. He'll either make the shots, or not. Though, the "or not" comes when it matters the most. Nate was there! I saw him, I swear! He's looking more and more serious, but not enough serious yet. But Ray... If Rasheed starts doing what you do, there's no need for you to stop doing your thing! Two Rays would've been a game winner. Garnett should remember that Dwight can block, and yes, even his awkward, high, bird-killing, sky-reaching shot. I thought the strategy from games 1-2-3 would be in order: Wait for someone to stand in front of Dwight.. And shoot! Well ok, the C's played somewhat good. It wasn't a bad game. It was just weird. And of course, count on refs to be Orlando's 6th player, not the fans. Well, the fans are their 7th player, a really weak one. Except we can't afford 3-3, things we have to scribble off as something that we won't let happen: Nelson and Lewis. Rondo on Nelson wasn't as effective in last 2 games. Lewis guarded by Garnett was effective until Garnett remembered that he's an old guy with back problems! (just like Rasheed, we almost forgot he's a grandpa until tonight) Ok, Garnett needs to watch replays of games 1-2-3, and Ray should perhaps take over Nelson - imho.
Now, something that (again) I think should be the game solver: Getting serious. There was no beating on Dwight -no vendetta. Those were just a bunch of high-school guys playing against the pros, waiting for their asses to be kicked (knowing they would). No-more-bench-garbage-time-please. Davis, TA, Sheed and perhaps Nate - it's the players who with the starting 5 can win the game. It stays sharp. But once someone else like Daniels joins the party, I immediately see that Boston loses their prowess and killer instinct. It becomes P.E. game of basketball.
P.S. Just so I don't have to make another thread: Ray, your afternoon nap time is over. Time to shine again. And Sheed, please don't tell me you'll need a couple of months to solve that back problem of yours... Guys, just beat that angry black pitbull terrier, make him bleed. Get Daniels to get ejected or something, just make him nervous!! At least as half as nervous as I and 90% of C's fans are!
The Superman!
Ok, this post is for those who have seen what Dwight did in the last game.
It wasn't just last game, it was game 3, if I'm not mistaken, as well. In fact, he's been doing that in each game. So, I'm still surprised that reviewing commission or whatever it's called didn't do anything about it yet. I mean he didn't even get a single technical (or perhaps one, I forgot if he got it when he was wrestling with Sheed). I really think we need to put an end to that. Like, if Doc could sacrifice Sheed or Perkins to make a couple of technicals on Dwight. Like jump for the ball and "accidentally" catch his nose with an elbow... Or knee. I mean to hell with clean sports and fair play, I just want to see Howard get punches. I mean in 4th quarter, it was sort of obvious that Rondo is too scared to drive in because he knew Howard would stick his head to the board, or perhaps put it through the rim. So why not make Dwight be afraid of going for the ball. Oh, how about this - he jumps for the balls and gets an elbow between his legs? That would be a cute one.
Then, of course, the Magic would respond, no? But at least then refs would have to start making calls. If not, then great! Garnett can beat Lewis, Rondo looks stronger than Nelson, Allen can own Redick... Let the fight begin! Joke aside, I really think that Sheed and Perkins should get a lot more brutal on Dwight. And... the refs don't really like flagrant fouls, do they?
Orlando fans!
Ok, I saw how much Orlando Magic fans like talking about us and our blog, except the comments and the post is like 10-15 days old. So um.. I had a laugh reading this, and I guarantee that you will as well... http://www.orlandopinstripedpost.com/2010/5/12/1469681/yes-what-have-we-said-all-along
It's a post which mocks a post from our blog. The comments are simply amazing. Especially today. Enjoy!
Are we in the finals yet?
There's still a chance we don't make it there, but... Come on.
I previously said I believe in a sweep against Orlando. It wasn't talking trash, or saying random stuff, I believed that this team can actually sweep second best team in NBA this regular season. But now, I don't even believe that Lakers can win more than 1 game against the Celtics! I honestly don't see that happening, because this is the top. The team has reached the state that Doc was daydreaming of. A comment on celtics.net said: "No matter what 5 is on the floor, C's are playing the same." It doesn't get better than that - they're playing together. I believe in Celtics in 5 against Lakers.
Is he a zombie?
Last 2-3 weeks, Sheed's been included in each post which mentioned dream team, perfectly balanced team, great team, consistent team, team made of players that you can count on etc. Is he resurrected or is he a zombie? I still can't believe this situation, even though I've been watching his amazing..ness on the floor basically ever since it started with Miami! Imagine what he feels like!
So do you think he's blown out or he's here to stay?
Oh and... I have never in my life witnessed one group of... anyone or anything that made so many promises, and they fulfilled them ALL! Pierce promised to step up when needed. Sheed promised to be saving himself for the playoffs. Garnett promised he'd be healthy when the time is right (RememberThatKneeBackInJanuaryThatEveryoneWasFreakingOutAbout). Doc promised that not trading Ray would be a good thing... And it did! Davis promised never to be cry again after Garnett yelled at him for a bad game (referring to that photo, don't take it literally). And look at him now - he dances; he's as wide as Shaq and goes through 3-4 guys like Rondo! Tony promised that our bench wouldn't be so disappointing anymore, and that his replacing of Pierce in January wasn't good by accident. And now, we call him the best defensive player of the league! Feel free to flame me for not changing the headline to "Are they just zombies?"!
Orlando's blog
Funny how each story on this blog or article have a lot of comments. It's funny because I just saw Orlando's blog - 2 comments each time. Seems like this blog's by far more alive than theirs (well duh, if the monotony of the background doesn't blind you, then you're my idol, replacing Paul Pierce). Plus couple of comments dream that Celtics have.. 'bruises' from series with Cleveland. Did I miss LeBron's trade to Celtics? What bruises?
Well anyway, they don't seem to think over games as much as we do. Which makes me wonder... Do Celtics players come to this blog? (if they did, I wouldn't want to be in Sheed's skin... really)
LeBron just got fitted for NYK jersey
I've been reading comments on various pages tonight and all I see is "The big three are failing, Celtics can't get past Orlando, Paul Pierce should retire, Paul can't do anything, Celtics can't beat Orlando without Paul, even Sheed is better than Paul" etc etc.
Did I just dream, or was it real when Paul said something like: I'm doing whatever it takes for the team to score. If the team needs me to step in and take all the shots, I'll do it, but if the team or someone else wants me to help, I'll do my best in that area.. ? It's not even like Paul wasn't there! Couple of times Cavs stopped Rondo and then Paul steps in and dunks over LeBron, or makes an awesome move and then just hands the control back to Rondo after reminding the Cavaliers that he still needs to be guarded.
Another thing - most of them comments said that Boston can go through but Orlando is stopping us. Why? They got Carter and Dwight, and basically that's it! Boston's Senior Citizen Squad backed up by the young southerns (Rondo and Davis) are doing awesome job on one or two man teams. Last year we didn't have this new MVP Rondo and we didn't have KG, Orlando got lucky. If this year we get past Cavaliers (just so you don't say I jinxed it), why is there such a small chance given to the C's that they can beat Orlando?!
Eastern finals
Whoever goes through to Eastern finals will actually have easier job than expected. Atlanta is currently just a sparring partner to Orlando. I just saw the highlights, and it seems as Atlanta is basically letting Orlando win as easily as possible. Leaving open three point shooters, not double-teaming Vince or Dwight - just small parts of their freakishly awkward defense. Pietrus is slower and bigger than Rondo, yet it seemed as he was as fast as Usain Bolt - the Hawks' defense made such an impression!
(Rondo's gonna have some fun with Nelson, though)
The future
What just happened was that they hit Rondo too many times and the boys in green didn't put much hurting on LeBron's elbow. In second half Rondo was too scared to attack the paint, and who wouldn't be scared to do that knowing Shaq's a mad psycho trying to kill someone. But first half was amazing from Rondo, and the commentators at one point said something like "the big four is providing only points for this team". Rondo's young, Davis is relatively young, and if Doc and Garnett manage to affect Davis enough, is it possible that we will be seeing new John Stockton - Carl Malone duo? In future, when the big three retires, when Sheed finally says he's done, when everyone realizes Perkins is a big fat (zero and a) disappointment, all we have left is Rondo. Are the Celtics going to be another one-man-team, like the Heat and Cavaliers? Not sure it's a good idea, since he'd have to score 99% of the points with 4 Kendricks on team.
P.S. Someone tell Doc to get Perkins and Sheed to get at least 3 flagrant fouls each on James. They'll contribute more than Allen and Paul just did that way. (anything for the team, right?)
Round two decides the champions?
I don't want to rush into anything, but we already all have started thinking about Cavaliers in next round. If we see Boston playing like they did against Miami, and we will because this is what the big three's been waiting for - the playoffs, then we should go past Cleveland in 5 or 6 games. I mean, not like Varejao, Delonte or Mo can't do that much (they didn't do much to us during this season, either). And of course, C's can make 30 points lead and actually keep it now, since I'm sure they learned that the game ends after 4th quarter by now.
Ok, Cleveland's down. Then comes Atlanta or Magic. Atlanta's beaten us 4 times this season each time when we saw Boston take the 3 consecutive losses - the mid season when we were most vulnerable, OR a free fall after 3 consecutive wins (basically each time when C's didn't feel like playing ball). They shouldn't be much of a problem, though. Same for Orlando. Their team's more or less made of same guys who have beaten us last year, except they got older and clumsier (Idk if anyone watched Orlando's games, they rely on luck too much). On the other side, Lakers are struggling against Oklahoma, (?) and basically there's 99% chance that Lakers will be in the finals again. Portland, Utah, Nuggets, Phoenix, Mavericks, Lakers will beat any of them and get into finals. Now, us (fans) have learned that Kobe is just some player who knows a lot of tricks and uses them when playing against bad teams. I'm sure that players and Doc have, also. And also we've beaten Lakers before (yes, without Kobe, but Gasol lead them in scoring). Next time they'll be relying on Kobe, and he won't do much.
Conclusion - if Celtics don't lose energy, their only obstacle to championship rings are Cleveland Cavaliers!
History repeating itself
Someone posted that approximately 30 years ago Boston played miserably throughout the season barely making it into the play-offs eventually winning the championship. What we saw last night is a confirmation of that happening once again. I wonder if there's anyone out there who think we have no chance of winning it this year!
Just one thing remains to be said: Boston Celtics have found their reason to play for and have now started playing basketball.
Another Sheed post
Am I underdeveloped, or do I lack intelligence because I can't seem to realize what's everyone got against Rasheed. Yes, he was an amazing player. We got him for small money (salary, he was a free agent), he sinks a three more often than any other bench players. Defensively, I see Garnett making mistakes a lot more often than Rasheed, on a lot worse players than the one Sheed's against. I don't even notice some defensive techniques or moves, but I see Rasheed keeping players who score 35 pts per game, on 5 pts per quarter. So, yes, he was an amazing player who has 15 years in NBA under his hat...Err headband, and people expect Shelden to play instead because he doesn't shoot 100% from the three line? Sheed may not be the most accurate player in Celtics, but he is our best bench player, after Tony of course. Am I wrong here? I mean lately, Rasheed Wallace has been the most consistent player - quiet, scores between 8 and 16 points, few rebounds, good defense, and all that in 15-20 minutes he plays.
Oh, and to those who'll say "no he sh00ts 10% thrii pnts !!!! u stpid noob!!!!" When Sheed plays, there is nobody else to take the three point shot on the court because Ray and Paul are usually off then - part of the game where you get snacks (or punching bag) for the third quarter.
Who were those guys last night wearing green and white?
Kevin Garnett starting fights instead of Rondo; Rondo stayed far out; First quarter was fine, second was the least points in one quarter I've ever seen Boston scored, then we didn't sink in third and fourth; Sheed was quiet but did his job in defense; Ray was amazing in defense on one of the best players in the world, and sucked in offense; we counted on Glen's scoring to win the game (or at least it looked like C's are counting on his scoring and offensive rebounds). For crying out loud it's only been 3 days and Doc has made a completely different team than the one we've been watching for last 8 months!
Good side: Teams will focus on Rondo, and some other players like Tony will kill them. We'll get far with this strategy.
Bad side: We'll run into a team whose coach will say: Leave Ray Allen alone, leave Paul alone, they won't be able to hit anything from three point line, double team Glen and Rasheed/Tony/Rondo. I just hope Ray's excuse for 0/4 is chasing Dwyane around the court all game long.
Aliens man, it's some sort of a conspiracy!
Who the hell kidnapped Paul Pierce and brainwashed him?!
No, seriously, I love what he's doing right now. Perhaps it's true, Celtics are finally heating up, they got something to play for now - to ensure going through. So, PP is back, Garnett is doing solid job again, Ray slams a 3 whenever we need it the most... And we're not even in the playoffs yet! I think Boston's up for winning it this year.
One simple solution
It's my first time posting here, just for the record, so please put out any flames :) I apologize for mistakes I make/made (like perhaps miss-using fan posts or.. something Idk).
I just saw the game against Cavaliers and I think that Ray proved we need to keep him. Also Paul proved we can count on him when we're losing. Actually whole team proved that the bench has to start the game, so we can lose the first half as it's the only thing that motivates our stars. The problem is still KG (who has his shiny moments), of course, but this is not my point. My point is we need one player who will constantly play on high level. At this point I'd prefer to see LeBron on the team with Paul, Davis, Rondo and Nate/Ray. Forget the big three, their time is over, get hands on James. Rondo can't carry the whole team like PP did 2 years ago (yet). That's one idea. (yes I know, Celtics don't have money for him) So that leads to the other idea, which is get KG and Paul out of the games. Make them practice a lot, not play 36 minutes every other night. Did you see the look on Paul's face when he fell the second time in 4th quarter? And in each game, Garnett looks like he's mad at people who try to prevent him from scoring! "Jesus Christ, I have to struggle with these guys, why don't they just let me dunk for crying out loud!"
On the other hand, you'd get bench players do their best, and their average (which we saw against Indiana) was really nice. I liked it. We have an awesome team with lack of motivation...
And my third solution would be get Perkins to break LeBron's leg before the play-offs. I don't care if he gets banned for the rest of the season, but we won't be able to reach the finals this way.
