Ok, I need a little peace of mind here and thats why I am writing this up.

Lats year our offense was Amazing. Set records, ran down the field at will, and produced what many hope to be (God Bless) a future Heisman. How did the offense get so good? Besides the fact that Jimbo is running the show and is calling the shots, I mean to pose the question 'how did they get so good' in a physical manner....As in who did they practice against to get so good. - Thats right, they practiced against one of the worse defenses in the country - Our very own defense.

Practice for the Offense, when scrimmaging against the defense (last year) must have been cake, as our O was amazing, and our D was terrible. I am imagining that the Offense got into a certain mindset where they felt they could not be stopped, and this same mindset translated into games- where they were (just as in practice) rarely stopped.

Enter the 2010 season and Enter a new Defense. Our offense will now have to see new schemes, new looks and practice against a different style of defense all together. I would normally say, hey this is a good thing, and even Bert Reed was quoted saying the other day that the new defense can only help the offense get better. But before I am to believe all this, and while I will play devil's advocate, there is one constant truth - Our Offense was Spectacular last year without having to play against a tough Defense! If anything, it seemed that our offense somehow took advantage of the weakened Defense and (possibly) excelled because of it.

The new defense is already getting raved reviews, not only from writers and coaches, but from the players themselves (both offense and defense). But man, I have to play devil's advocate here and simply wonder whether our offensive production will change any because they are no longer going against a weak competition. Once again, of course it sounds great on paper - 'the defense will be better, and therefor the offense will have better looks, and the offense will become better' - but as I said before our Offense was SUPERB going against a horrible defense in practices last year. So, is this new defense going to change our game time offense at all?

I guess what I am saying is - Hey, if its not broken, dont fix it - If the Offense was amazing and doing something last year that made them excellent, dont do anything different this year to change it

I really just wanted to write this up so you guys can give me a couple of counter arguments to set me at ease so I can feel better about what our offense will be doing this year... What do you guys think?

TN Logo - Fan Art Contest

Hey Guys! ... I'm Not saying that theres anything wrong with the current logo Tomahawk Nation has, but what do you guys think about letting the fans have a shot to create a new logo for TN? Fans would create a logo, and the best ones would be narrowed down, selected (by the guys who run the site) and voted on by the fans/readers to takeover as the new official logo for Tomahawk Nation.

As I said - nothing wrong with the current logo, but I think there are probably a lot of creative fans out there who could come up with something real nice that would be better than what we have now. I checked out most of the blog sites from SBNation (The Father site to Tomahawk Nation), and I didn't see one logo with the schools official logo/character/font, and I am therefore assuming that SBNation doesn't allow anything official - but in my opinion, that makes the contest that much more interesting. Once again, No offense against the current logo (or whoever created it), but I think we can do better, while at the same time having some fun with this thing. After checking out some other teams' SBNation blog sites, I think we can come up with something real creative to make our logo at TN stand out.

What do you guys think (the readers) ?

And, what do you guys - The Guys who run the site - think about it ?

After the Jump (I always wanted to type that) I have attached some
logos from other blog sites which hail from our father site, SBNation.
