I see your points, but I think you are focusing on the wrong players or the periphery. The championship contender status is going to come from the development of Wall, Beal, Porter.
Commented on What are the Wizards' chances of running on the "Treadmill of Mediocrity" in the future? on Jul 28 2014, 7:43p
Well, I think we are fairly certain that Wall and Beal are going to be all-star level players for the foreseeable future.

My takeaway is to become the best rebounding team in the history of the NBA. That way, if John or anyone else ever misses a shot, it won't matter! We get the ball back until it goes in!!!
Commented on No, John Wall doesn't need to shoot less often on Jul 26 2014, 11:47p - 1 reply
Payton was known to be in incredible shape himself. Wall could start there. Not saying he is not in-shape, but there are levels. He isn't at the top of the top.

Good point. It wasn't even from one of his acrobatic moves to the rim.

Or he was king of the one-footed floater or the up-and-under or any other very slick sound fundamental basketball play that doesn't rely on hops.

For me, it's the quality of the shot that matters. Wall took too many early in the clock long 2's last year. In fact, I think he and Beal took the most long 2's as a tandem in the NBA.

Or, you could go with dishonest idiot or is that d) all of the above ?

No, it's Neil Greenberg!
Commented on No, John Wall doesn't need to shoot less often on Jul 26 2014, 1:59a - 1 reply
Oh, it's a higher risk play for some players to be sure, but there are many slashers/penetrators who can pull it off without those sorts of acrobatics.

Nash would be another great example of someone who would debunk that notion. He lived off of driving the lane and maintaining his dribble.
Commented on No, John Wall doesn't need to shoot less often on Jul 25 2014, 9:01p - 1 reply
Not sure who you are responding to Izzy, but there is no added "toll" for driving the lane on your knees. It's all the bumps and bruises that add up from hitting the deck.
Commented on No, John Wall doesn't need to shoot less often on Jul 25 2014, 8:58p - 1 reply
Very good point DS. Iverson hit the deck more than any player I've ever seen and he was an iron man.

The Spurs also run the best offense in the NBA. Don't think Wittman is in the same hemisphere as Pops defensively or offensively.

I could see Indy out of the playoff picture.

Well, here goes my two cents.....

He is still young. That is what another team is banking on, but I think he is out of the league fairly soon. The odds are.
Commented on The Wizards may have too many big men on Jul 22 2014, 3:05a
There is certainly some unbalance there. The best thing is that they have trade pieces should that be necessary. Right?
Commented on The Wizards may have too many big men on Jul 22 2014, 1:26a
BTW, his lack of lateral quickness is way overblown. I can give you a list of HOF players who weren't the quickest or most athletic players in league annals. One is about to join the team. His name is Paul Pierce.
Commented on Otto Porter's breakout is coming on Jul 20 2014, 7:00p - 3 replies
I certainly think Otto is going to "breakout" from his bust label of this past season. I always thought writing him off so quickly was absolutely ridiculous!
Commented on Otto Porter's breakout is coming on Jul 20 2014, 6:43p
Yeah, that's cool and Brad and John seem like they are becoming "boys" on and off the court. That will help this franchise moving forward.

Otto playing well too! Real well. He gets close to set/balanced for his shot and he is about as accurate as it comes. Getting those shots more frequently is going to be his problem to solve.

Of which you give little consideration or blame to the owner he worked for at the time.

No, Smith is pretty clear on what is fact and what is his opinion. You just aren't listening.

Or miss his defensive rotation altogether. For a hard working, lunch pail player, Booker seemed a little lackadaisical to me on defense. Like he wasn't always focused properly.

Sort of the wrong time to be expressing that opinion. He's had his best stretch since he's been here.

I'm a little confused reading about EG in here. So...

A quick summer sprinkle of J's maybe. Yeah, offensive rebounding was probably his greatest skill.

Booker was a horrible defender. I rode him all year about it. Not sure what there was to like about him besides grit and hustle. Skills were non-existent minus the 5 games a year he scored some.

I must be fucking dreaming. EG is hitting Grand Slams! (Nod to AS baseball game tonigth!)

Good. Bye bye! He obviously really didn't want to play here if he signed for that much in Houston. We have a better chance of getting to the Finals than they do!

James Harden is Arenas 2.0. Just a little less of a headcase.

I believe Porter will be a better player than Ariza eventually. Not for this upcoming season, however.

If they could pull that off, that is an interesting idea.

This small forward market is insane. Sorry, Ariza is not worth that contract. He's just not, but he'll get it if that is his priority.

Manu is probably the best combo guard of all-time. I love his sick hook passes to the corner three. I think he had one of the greatest hook passes ever in the Finals this year.

I think Humphries would be an excellent pick-up for the Wizards. Better than I'd expect from them. Just an athletic, young backup PG/G away from being pretty legit.
Commented on NBA free agent rumors: Wizards show interest in Kris Humphries on Jul 8 2014, 3:28a - 1 reply
At some point, this organization has got to stop negotiating like it is a third tier team. Gortat wanted to stay and would have taken a little less. No doubt in my mind!

Exactly. Part of the point I was making.

Hilarious. Toronto manages not to overpay for its players, but the team playing in the nation's capital can't do the same!
Commented on Patrick Patterson, potential Wizards target, is off the market on Jul 5 2014, 3:46a - 2 replies
That's because he overpays for middle tier players and he misses on too many draft picks. He has got to go!
Commented on Will the Wizards rest their starting guards more next season? on Jul 4 2014, 4:03a
No I get the point just fine. It gives him every opportunity to last longer or else you don't know much about athletics and you're spouting more mumbo jumbo.

A lot of good points made in here, but, frankly, I could see Gortat playing fairly well for the length of this contract.

Gortat had the best body fat % of anyone on the team. His level of fitness is far from "mumbo-jumbo."

Lowry 20.20 PER and paid significantly less than Wall with a 19.16 PER.
