Tigers 2010 roster
Obviously only using players who are either already on the team or in the minor league system.
Without including any potential free agents, Detroit's potential 2010 roster is not a bad looking team at all. With the exception of catcher, it's actually rather impressive.
SP - Justin Verlander
SP - Andrew Miller
SP - Jeremy Bonderman
SP - Jair Jurrjens
SP - Rick Porcello
Closer - Joel Zumaya
Setup - Fernando Rodney
1B - Carlos Guillen
2B - Placido Palanco
SS - Cale Iorg
3B - Ryan Rayburn/Brandon Inge
LF - Gorkys Hernandez
CF - Curtis Granderson
RF - Cameron Maybin
C - Who the F knows?!
DH - Magglio Ordonez

BP: The Top Minor League CF'ers

An interesting list. Maybin has been having an outstanding rookie season of pro ball. The strikeouts are definitely high and the power is lacking but everything else is there in technicolor.
Upton has all the tools but he seems to lack the heart to push those tools into work.
- Maybin
- Young
- Upton
- Kemp
- Martinez

Upton vs Maybin vs Bruce
Who has the higher ceiling between Cameron Maybin, Justin Upton and Jay Bruce?
They're all very young outfielders playing in the Midwest League that historically hasn't been too kind to teenage hitters. Maybin and Bruce are both putting up better numbers than the higher ranked Upton who is currently batting .266 (Maybin is leading the league at .328 and Bruce at .311 is #8)...but project these guys two or three years down the road.
Will they all be in the majors within three years? Who's the better player? Does Upton still possess the greatest upside? If the 2005 draft was done over what order would you draft these three players?

Humberto Sanchez
Where is Detroit finding all of these flame throwers? Last it was Jordan Tata tearing up HiA ball, Justin Verlander leading A and AA in strikeouts and Joel Zumaya leading AA and AAA in strikeouts.
Now Detroit's got 6'6" Humberto Sanchez (at AA Erie) who is all of he sudden leading the minor leagues in strikeouts with 41 K's in 30 innings.
He's also 2-1 with a 1.50 ERA with 10 BB's. What exactly is this kid's potential? Is he anything like Zumaya and Verlander?
How are the Tigers producing all of these power arms? Oh yeah and they're also in possession of the AAA leader in strikeouts this year as well...Wilfredo Ledezma.
