I knew Coach Bryant had a soft side but I did not know he had a funny side. Here he is with Joe Namath on The Bob Hope Show.

Roll 'Bama Roll Just when I thought this week could not get any worse.. RIP Leslie Nielsen

Just when I thought I could not get more depressed in the wake of the Iron Bowl last Friday.  Leslie Nielsen, Hollywood legend and comedic actor, has died at the age of 84.  Nielsen died of complications from pneumonia in a hospital near his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on Nov. 28. He was surrounded by his wife and family.

Thank you Sir Nielsen for cracking me up for the past 20 years... and all you asked in return was... "Don't call me Shirley".   He was truly one of a kind and will not be forgotten.

Please Help!!!!

Can someone please go over there and post SOMETHING... ANYTHING... (be respectful and classy)  that has nothing to do with The Crimson Tide.  Please... anything.. my boss is starting to get on my ass.  I need a haircut.

Roll 'Bama Roll You Might Be a Redneck

``These billboards in strategically selected markets show our commitment to continuing to look for innovative ways to promote Auburn football and enhance the Auburn brand,'' Athletics Director Jay Jacobs said in a statement. ``The billboards will also promote and support the mission of Auburn University in general, complementing other recent investments such as the establishment of the Shug Jordan Professorship and other initiatives to come."

Roll 'Bama Roll Kiffikins Pokes the Bear Again

This just posted on AL.com:

Spurrier confronts Kiffin

Posted by Jon Solomon -- Birmingham News May 26, 2009 7:17 PM

Lane Kiffin may be the new mouth of the SEC. But Steve Spurrier isn't going down without a fight.

Earlier Tuesday in Destin, Fla., Kiffin was asked if he would apologize again to Florida coach Urban Meyer for accusing him of cheating. Kiffin responded that he had never received an apology from Spurrier after Spurrier questioned whether he had passed the NCAA compliance test before he began calling prospects.

Told of Kiffin's comment late Tuesday, Spurrier shook his head and faced Kiffin, who was waiting for an elevator with a couple other coaches. "I didn't accuse you of cheating," Spurrier told Kiffin. "I said, 'It is permissible to call recruits before he's announced as head coach, before you take the test?"

Spurrier then turned back toward reporters and told them Kiffin took the test online and was unaware that was allowed. Kiffin's face turned red during the 40-second exchange and said something that was inaudible.

Spurrier was still talking as the elevator doors closed, exiting to laughter from media members and probably quite the elevator ride for Kiffin, Auburn's Gene Chizik, Arkansas' Bobby Petrino and Kentucky's Rich Brooks.

______________________________________________________________

I usually try not to lower myself to this Finebaum/Springer garbage but I cannot help but be fascinated, in this off season purgatory, with this "train wreck" that is Lane Kiffin.  Did he actually take his shirt off?

The jist of his response in this article when asked if he should apologize to Coach Meyer.:

Spurrier didn't apologize to me so why should I apologize to Meyer?

What the hell does one have to do with the other to anyone who is not seven and hanging upside down on a jungle gym in a school yard?

This BOY has not proven one thing on an SEC field,  yet he insists on "Poking Such Bears" as the likes of Meyer, Spurrier and (through Lance Thompson) even Saban.

Gene Chizik and Dan Mullen had better sense than that.

Watching Kiffikins crash and burn as a direct result of his total lack of respect for his elders is going to be a joy.  It may even restore my belief in the way things 'ought to be.

Roll 'Bama Roll Dick Vitale, No Chance... Really?

College Football according to Dick Vitale

"They can't hear us in Alabama, can they?" Vitale said on the broadcast. "They have no shot against the Gators when they play for the SEC title. They have no shot. Nick Saban has done a phenomenal job with that Alabama program, really brought it back, but I'm telling you, that Florida Gators team is like a juggernaut."

Really then?  The last time we heard this with a championship game pending, a Heisman Trophy winning Quarterback struck this pose in the 4th quarter.

Roll 'Bama Roll Coach Saban's Math Lesson

A math lesson from a football coach.

Here is Coach Saban's opinion on being 99% effective.  This quote was taken from his "Hey Coach" show at Buffallo Wild Wings in Tuscaloosa on Thursday night.

"If you do 99% good, and 1% not so good, you don't quite get it right, aigh't,  on just 1% of it,  that means you are just 99% right, and you just don't get 1% of it right, you know... If the hospital did that then there would be 12 babies a day that would go to the wrong parents."

I think The University of Alabama has most certainly hired the right man to coach The Crimson Tide.... aigh't.
