Detroit Bad Boys Possible Trade Scenario

Piston Trade for Zach Randolph Not Unrealistic

Here is a link to an article about the possible trade scenario for Zach Randolph. After reading the article, I think it would be a great trade if Memphis were to go for it.

To sum up the article if you dont choose to read it

  • Mike Conley and Rudy Gay just received huge contracts.
  • OJ Mayo and Marc Gasol are due big contracts at seasons end
  • Memphis isnt looking to resign Randolph whose contract is expiring
  • Prince and Wilcox's expiring contracts can be trade bait
  • Austin Daye can move back to Small Forward where he belongs
  • We dont have to resign Randolph at season's end

Randolph has been averaging 14 pts and 11 rebs this season and just put up a 23 and 20 game.  Personally i think it would be worth the trade for the season cause it gets us a good player and somewhat clears up the jam at SF.

Pride Of Detroit 10 reasons to pick Okung

10 Reasons why the Lions need to pick Okung. Found this article on walterfootball.com. You guys can read the article but ill put in the 10 general points.

Link

1. Protecting the Franchise Investment-Detroit is paying Stafford $72 million over six years. If Stafford fails, the Lions will fail. If Stafford succeeds, the Lions will, in all likelihood, eventually reach the playoffs for the first time since 1999.

2. Peppers, Matthews and Allen. All three of Detroit's NFC North rivals have premier pass-rushers.

3. Offensive Tackles Have High Hit Rates and Low Bust Rates.  Link (article about OT bust rates)

4. Is Ndamukong Suh Overhyped? Don't get me wrong here. Suh is a damn good prospect. But I feel as though some analysts and many casual fans are building Suh up to be something that he's not.

5. Ndamukong Suh's Bust Factor and Knees. Chances are that Suh will be a multi-time Pro Bowler in the NFL. He's a top-three prospect on everyone's board for a reason.
However, scouts are often wrong about players. Remember when Glenn Dorsey was supposed to be the next Warren Sapp? Suh went through two knee surgeries in college. One knee surgery should be enough to draw a red flag. Two knee surgeries are way too many.
Now, many will argue that Suh's knee surgeries didn't affect his play at Nebraska. This is definitely true, but we don't know the long-term effects. How do we know if Suh's knees will hold up in three or four years?

6. Defensive Tackle is No Longer a Need. Williams collected 14 sacks for the Packers. The Browns put him into a 3-4 system that he was uncomfortable with. Of course there are two starting defensive tackles in a 4-3 defense. Williams will play alongside Sammie Lee Hill, who had a very good rookie campaign

7. Money. If the Lions draft Suh, the Nebraska prospect will sign the second-richest contract given to a defensive tackle in NFL history. Lions will have 2nd highest contract totals tied up in DTs.

 8. Russell Okung - Not a Scrub. Okung is the real deal. He's an athletic franchise left tackle. He's not some overweight pig like Andre Smith. He's not some overhyped, raw Combine star like Jason Smith. Okung has been the consensus No. 1 offensive tackle all year. Any quarterback would be lucky to have him protecting his blind side.

9. Jeff Backus. Again, Jeff Backus apologists will be up in arms about how he's the greatest thing since Internet porn. I'll say this - Backus is an excellent run-blocker. He would be a great left guard or right tackle.

10. Atoning for Past Mistakes. Given Detroit's failures over the years, the following fact should not be surprising - The Lions have not chosen an offensive tackle in the upper half of an NFL Draft (top 16 picks) since 1985.

Theres the 10 reasons. The article goes into more depth. Good read!

Detroit Bad Boys ESPN Insider Trade Rumor

From Chad Ford:

Rudy Gay, F, Grizzlies
The Grizzlies are playing their best basketball since Jerry West was the GM, so why would they mess with a good thing?

There are two reasons, according to a pair of general managers who have spoken with the Grizzlies in recent days. One, Memphis is concerned that this summer a team flush with cap space will offer Gay (who will be a restricted free agent this summer) a huge contract that Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley will be unwilling to match. Two, the team, currently at 22-19, would love to make the playoffs and believes it's a veteran defensive presence away from getting there.

While a number of teams would be interested in Gay, a rising talent at age 23, keep your eye on the Pistons. They have been hunting for the right trade in which to move Tayshaun Prince. If Prince is healthy (he has been battling back and knee injuries all season), he might fit the bill for Memphis -- and the Pistons could throw in a lottery pick from this year's draft to sweeten the deal.

Hasheem Thabeet, C, Grizzlies
Gay isn't the only player the Grizzlies would move for the right price. Thabeet is off to a slow start in his rookie season in Memphis and doesn't fit into the team's current plans. Still, he was the No. 2 pick in the draft, and he has value in the league

What if Pistons gave up Tay, Kwame, and a pick?

I think Thabeet would be an excellent pickup along with Gay. He is young and started off slow but with his size he has potential.

Detroit Bad Boys Top 25 players most likely to be traded

ESPN insider article about trade possibilities: Although the trade deadline is still a little more than a month away, a number of GMs are reporting that they're already receiving a record number of phone calls about deals. Contenders are trying to shore up their rosters. Some teams are trying to rebuild. And others are just trying to save some cash. In short, it looks as if we'll see a number of significant deals in the coming weeks.

After talking with teams throughout the league, here's a look at 25 players who could be changing uniforms by Feb. 18.
We'll keep updating this list through the Feb. 18 trade deadline as new rumors and potential trades develop.
Impact players most likely to be moved

(Ranked from most likely to least likely to be traded)

1. Antawn Jamison, F, Wizards
2. Troy Murphy, F, Pacers
3. Tayshaun Prince, F, Pistons
Joe Dumars didn't expect the Pistons to be championship contenders this season. But he also didn't anticipate the team losing 13 games in a row. The fact that the Pistons drafted three small forwards in last year's draft and that two of them -- Jonas Jerebko and Austin Daye -- look very promising is all you need to know. The word on the street is that the Pistons are in very active trade discussions on Prince.

While the team would prefer to move Richard Hamilton, I don't think they're going to be able to find a home for him given his enormous contract. If the Pistons can swap Prince for some help in the paint, they've got to do it. The combination of Charlie Villanueva, Jason Maxiell, Ben Wallace and Kwame Brown just isn't getting it done.

4. Caron Butler, G/F, Wizards
5. Andre Miller, PG, Blazers
6. Jeff Foster, C, Pacers
7. Kirk Hinrich, G, Bulls
8. Tyrus Thomas, F, Bulls
9. Marcus Camby, C, Clippers
10. Carlos Boozer, F/C, Jazz
11. Jose Calderon, PG, Raptors
12. Al Jefferson, PF, Timberwolves
13. Devin Harris, PG, Nets
14. Chris Bosh, PF, Raptors
15. Amare Stoudemire, PF, Suns

Expiring contracts
1. Zydrunas Ilgauskas, C, Cavs
2. Tracy McGrady, G, Rockets
3. Kenny Thomas, PF, Kings
4. Erick Dampier, C, Mavs
5. Brendan Haywood, C, Wizards
6. Mike Miller, F, Wizards
7. Mike James, G, Wizards
8. Travis Outlaw, F, Blazers
9. Steve Blake, G, Blazers
10. Kwame Brown, C, Pistons
Brown has been a bust in Detroit, just as he was in Washington and L.A. The Pistons will try to package his expiring $4 million contract with either Tayshaun Prince or Rip Hamilton to continue to remake their roster.

Pride Of Detroit April Chooses Eagles

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4826412

Looks like Bobby April has already made his choice to go to the Eagles. Im disappointed a bit that Detroit didnt try to make a run after this coach especially with how our special teams have been below average for a while. I think we could have greatly improved our ST this year with him as coach.

Anybody else hear of any other candidates for the job?

Pride Of Detroit Trading down

While i do think that Rams need there QB, if they believe Suh is just too good to pass up,  they can acquire a QB in FA or another round or stick with Null until the 2011 draft.

If Suh is available at our pick then by all means draft him and this post becomes irrelevant but his would be my draft scenario only if Suh is not available.

Round 1: Do as Cleveland did last year (in the sense of acquiring more picks by trading down multiple times). Yes, Eric Berry may be the BPA in this draft but i also think there are plenty of safeties in this draft and  that the Lions could trade this pick down to KC then continue to trade down as the Browns did last year. When Browns went from 5th to 17th they acquired the Jets 1st, 2nd, two 6th rd picks and 3 players. The players werent very good so maybe the Lions could acquire one player with more talent. If the Lions could just continually pick up an extra 2nd and other picks between rounds 3-5 then Lions and maybe a descent player or two. If the Lions can trade down until low to mid 20s, then they could pick up an OG like Mike Lupati or Jon Asamoah. This would help protect our $72 mil investment without having to spend #2 money.

Round 2: Possibilities for this round could include if available CB Patrick Robinson or DT Terrance Cody with our34th pick.. This would be an instant upgrade to our CB core and Mt. Cody could be our Albert Haynesworth that Schwartz has in Tenn. A few other choices could be Jahvid Best, Jonathon Dwyer, or Anthony Dixon. To me i think we need two solid RBs cause Smith cant handle all the carries. DE Brandon Graham would be a good pass rusher that could be a possible pick. OR we could further trade down and get more picks and pick a late second like Javier Arenas, Perrish Cox, Trevor Lindley or Brandon Ghee. If we had two picks my first would be Cody and the second pick would be CB.

Round 3: If we traded down enough hopefully we would get 2-3 picks this round. Depending on who we picked in the previous rounds i think the possible players in this round could be RB Toby Gerhart. Hes a big back we could use short distances and goaline situation. CB Devin McCourtney or Kyle Wilson would be an upgrade. DT Lamarr Hosuton from Texas or Vince Oghobaase from Duke could be a pick that would go alongside SLH. Safeties in this round could include Kam Chancellor from VT (6-3 230lbs), Darrell Stuckey (Kansas), or Harry Colman (LSU). If we had another 2 picks here my first would be a DT and then a safety.

Round 4: By addressing a few defensive needs in the 2nd and 3rd round i think if we had 2-3 picks in this round we could address offense. WR Freddie Barnes from Bowling Green would be a solid WR with Megatron. Im not sure how far Legarette Blount is supposed to drop or his projected round but at 240lbs he could be a big complement back with Smith. Safeties in this round could include Larry Asante or Myron Rolle. OG Brandon Carter or John Jerry could be another guard we could upgrade our O-line.

Round 5-7: In rounds 5-7 i would like to see WR Blair White from MSU. He reminds me a little of Wes Welker. Great hands and might not be as fast as Welker but hes quick and could be a solid slot reciever. We could draft an OT or any other special teams player Schwartz may like. I know we currently dont have a 7th rd pick because of the Ko Simpson trade but if we can pick one up then i think we should draft Brett Swenson or Leigh Tiffin. Hanson had a poor season and he is in the last year(s) of his career so it may be time for a new kicker.

There are many different possible scenarios and draft targets and by trading down to acquire more picks we can pick up more players to help rebuild. It may be wishful thinking but i think more picks and players will help the Lions rebuild then just one player. Then we can address even more issues in FA.

This is just my take on how i would want to see the Lions rebuild if Suh is not available.

Pride Of Detroit Rumors

Just thought i would pass this along to you all since i was just looking around the espn site and reading some rumors.

While Clausen put up some good numbers scouts don't think he is worthy of the #1 and Suh would be the best option for the Rams and grab a FA QB or one in the 2nd rd. (Ill guess we'll see more though after the combine).

KC really likes Eric Berry. I think if Suh is gone we could consider trading our pick to KC and get a few more picks.

And to my surprise, there are reports that Lions will be drafting offense this upcoming draft. Most likely they'll go wit Suh or Berry(if Suh isnt there) but after that they are looking for offense.

Just read this online so i thought i would pass this information onto you guys.

Detroit Bad Boys Offseason Moves

There hasnt been too many new posts lately so i thought i would try to strike up a new conversation. On the Pride of Detroit blog, it seems like we've been talking mock drafts all season. I thought i might as well throw one in on here.

First off, i think we should re-sign Will Bynum if his asking price isnt too steep. Re-sign Ben Wallace for another year if we can get him at the same price. If we can trade anyone this year i would say trade away Tayshaun Prince for Chris Kaman because of our current depth at SF and lack at C. Or if we want to make a lot of cap space for next season trade for TMACs expiring contract.

That would leave the pistons getting rid of Wilcox, Kwame, and Atkins.

In FA, i think a few possibilities could be Brendan Haywood, Shannon Brown, or Steve Blake. If we got TMACs expiring contract then i would think about going after Bosh, David Lee, or Boozer.

If the season ended right now then the Pistons would have the 7th overall pick. If we got this position in the lottery then my first round pick would be 7'0 PF/C Donatas Motiejunas out of Lithuania. He has been compared to Andrea Bargnani. He's tall, can shoot the 3 or midrange shot but also can play down low and get rebounds.  He is projected to go top 10 and if he isn't available another pick i would go with is Ed Davis 6'10 PF UNC.  In my second round pick i would go with someone like Jerome Dyson SG out of UCONN or Greivis Vasquez 6'6 PG/SG Maryland. But being an optimist i believe Pistons can turn this losing streak around and i think they can get towards more of the middle of the draft, in that case i would see pistons either going DeMarcus Cousins 6'11 PF/C Kentucky, Cole Aldrich 6'10 C Kansas, or if they go PG then possibly Kalin Lucas MSU. Manny Harris is another guy that i have seen anywhere being late 1st round to mid-2nd that i would think would be a good draft choice for Pistons.

Depending on who we let go and sign, our main focus should be on C and least should be on SF, SG. We could use backups at any position though.

Thats just my take on how i think Pistons could improve this season and offseason.

Detroit Bad Boys Enough minutes??

I think that Pistons really need to seriously consider a trade to acquire a big man. Right now Stuckey is shooting pretty good. We got CV31 finally scoring some big points and Jerebko is lookin like a stud on D while also posting a few double doubles. We know Ben Gordon is an offensive threat when hes healthy and Tay is a solid defender and scorer. But do we really have minutes for all these guys. I think Jerebko should stay starting at SF when Tay comes back. We got Daye that can play right behind Jerebko. RIP can be shipped out once we can Gordon healthy and he could rotate with Stuckey when Atkins is PG.  Summers i think could be a surprise too if he was playin more minutes. Thats why i think we need to cut lose some vets to let this promising young rookies step up with Gordon, Stuckey, and CV31. And bytrading for a big man, I think it would make this team more competitve in the future.

Pride Of Detroit If your bored of Mock Drafts..

Srry but here's a few more mock drafts i found

If Lions pick 3rd: http://cdsdraft.com/mocks/member-mocks/index.php?id=7144

If Lions pick 4th scenario: http://cdsdraft.com/mocks/member-mocks/index.php?id=7126

If Lions pick 5th: http://cdsdraft.com/mocks/member-mocks/index.php?id=7135

Another 5th pick scenario: http://cdsdraft.com/mocks/member-mocks/index.php?id=7140

Personally i like the first scenario of the 5th pick. Lions get a solid DE, the O-Line we need to protect Stafford, and get some good CBs out of a Sims trade, and a future kicker.

Your Thoughts??

Detroit Bad Boys Another trade scenario

So i was messing around with the nba trade machine earlier. While alot of the trades that could "possible" happen, i just dont see alot of the scenarios i put in actually happening.  A trade this was accepted that I would like to see is Kwame and Maxiell for Emeka Okafor. I think this would help with our big man need. Kwame was never a solution to the problem. Averaging 4 rebs 4 pts and a 35% free throw shooter and Maxiell so far hasnt done to much. Averaging 4 rebs 4 pts and 52% free throw. Given up these two guys for Okafor whose averaging a sliver under 10 pts 10 rebs a night I think would greatly benefit us. Its a trade i would like to see but one i dont think would happen.
