Pujols Volunteers for 3B, Sosh Considering?
In the game notes at the bottom.
I thought the Pujols had some sort of arm problem preventing 3B time, but I'm no Jobe.
Cadillac to Join Gubi and Victor, Too Lazy To Do Full Season
Listed at the bottom of DiGiovanna's Kendrysphilia and Abreuphobia:
"Former Angels outfielder Garret Anderson will try his hand at television this season, doing 25 or so postgame shows on FS West telecasts of Angels games."
"Cadillac" = my preferred nickname for G.A. For the record, I was a fan of Garret, and never believed the "lazy" epithet.
All Angels coaches renewed for 2012.
Sigh... Looks like the Mike Scioscia Manager Training Academy has hit a snag.

HardballTalk Preview Angels 2011, Mathis Explained
Posted for this:
"Another battle was at catcher, where Jeff Mathis, Bobby Wilson and Hank Conger all got looks. Mathis — who couldn’t hit a baseball on the hittingest day of his life if he had an electrified hitting machine — will get the nod. This is Mike Scioscia’s team, so is that any surprise?"

Ninja At The Bat
With apologies to E.L. Thayer... Without further ado:
The season wasn't brilliant for the LA Angel team
The outfielders were tragic and bullpen strength a wistful dream.
KMo was a low blow and 3B stunk from heaven
Our only happy hope was for the Summer of '11.

Beltre must be an Angel, but at what cost?
The Angels need Beltre for offense and defense. As we have seen he neatly fills the gaping maw of disappointment at the hot corner and is a very solid player.
So presuming that, how much should Arte pay?
If we can believe Rosenthal's Twittering the Rangers are likely out. That would seem to leave us and the A's as the only teams with the need and the cash to get it done, and AB has already let the Beanecounter know that 5/64 was beneath consideration . He seems to want 5/85 (HAH! Good luck, son!), but maybe he wants to be on a contender more than he wants the big bucks, and that leaves...The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
At this point, with options dwindling and money drying up, the Angels are in a great position to perhaps turn it around, and make a fair (as opposed to a Borasian) offer. And considering the HH reaction to Crawford's signing, I'd also like to see who really will care and who will be all sour grapes and stuff when this gets done (it must get done!) or not.
My metric goes like this:
5/85 Shitty deal, and if we turned it down, I'd still be disappointed, but just barely.
5/75 Also crappy, but if that's what it is, I'd be satisfied, and have a bitter taste leftover
5/65 Getting better, satisfying but biting the bullet
4/60 Liking it more, pleased with this one.
So HHers, what are the numbers you'd like, love, barely swallow or outright reject when it comes to Beltre? I know Not A Chance/Screw You Boras will suit some, but the need is too great.
Q Gets A Deal
Nice one!

ESPN MLB Strange But True 2008
First fanpost. Be gentle with me.
I'm a big fan of ESPN's Jayson Stark's columns about unusual baseball statistics, records, and coincidences.
So check out the oddball occurrences and goofy stats-I didn't remember half of this stuff!
I didn't read about Griffey getting on base for two different teams in the same day, or that the Mets gave up two grand slams all year...both to pitchers (just for starters).
Anyway, there's a ton of really great, funny stuff here.
