"The outsiders don't matter at this point." Huh?
Over the past year Antel Rolle has been one of the New York Giants most vocal players; both on the field and off of it. He has called out his fellow players when he thought that it was necessary to do. He has also made comments about the coaching staff and their way they carry out their duties. But now this, and I agree that It may be that I am reading a little too much into this statement and seeing something that is not there; but I was taken back by this question and answer during an Antrel Rolle interview:
Q: How do you feel about a coaching change if you don't make the playoffs? A lot of people have been writing about that:
A: That's not something I think that I really respond to. The outsiders don't matter at this point. They can say whatever they want to say. It's all about this organization and what happens here. If we go out and perform on the field, none of those questions will be brought up and that's the way I look at it. We have to do a better job of going down on the field and performing.
NFL Officiating: An Objective Analysis
Over the years, I have sat down expecting to enjoy what I thought would be a spontaneous competion between two opposing teams. During such games, I have observed Referees make calls, or not make calls, which simply left me scratching my head. I often wondered why a call or non-call which was opposite to what was clearly evident to fans watching the game both at home and in person could totally circumvent the attention of the official whose job is to detect infractions and ensure that the culprit is held accountable.
Now, many of you may argue that football is a very fast-paced sport. With large bodies running, jumping, diving and flying all over the place; the assigned officials simply cannot catch every infraction that takes place on the field and are bound to miss some calls and make some mistakes. They are not perfect. My response to this argument is: Yes, you're right BUT how do you account for those instances where the penalty takes place in clear view of an official but isn't acknowledged even in the slightest? How do you account for a penalty that is called on a player who isn't even in the game? In this latter instance, I have observed penalties be carried out despite the fact that an attempt to correct this error was never made. These were the calls and non calls that puzzled me the most.
After witnessing these dynamics emerge in a previous game, I voiced my opinion to my sports watching peers, however, at the time I stated that the game was "fixed." This opinion was immediately labeled as "dumb" by some and a "a cop-out" by others. I was even indirectly labeled as a "conspiracy theorist" if there is such a thing. These responses puzzled me because surely my sports peers know that any inconsistency in officiating a game can change the odds of one team winning over another so why am I being attacked? Then I realized that my perception of this enigma was all wrong. Instead of looking at it from a objective standpoint, I was looking at it from a subjective standpoint. I realized that the only people who can look at this issue from a subjective standpoint are the people involved in the "fixing" and it would be near impossible for me to prove such a thing without solid tangible evidence.
An Objective Analysis.
As I understand it, the NFL is in the business of selling the fans of the various football teams which comprises its' league a spontaneous, competitive football game that is played within impartial judicial regulation. To achieve this end, the NFL appoints a group of approximately 7 individuals to carry out tasks that are required to keep the game moving forward which includes the enforcement of the rules of the game and the recording of all rule infractions. Each of one these individuals have his own title and responsibilities. That said, one could conclude that the task of officiating is a form of quality control which is geared towards maintaining the integrity of the game.
With this understanding in mind, it is logical to conclude that any inconsistency in the execution of this function breaks down the means of quality control described in the preceding paragraph; and thus, the quality of the product this function is designed to preserve. More simply put, and as I stated above, any deviation in the officiating of a game can change the odds of one team winning over another. This lack of consistency can alter whether the scores goes up and can have an adverse affect on individual & team statistics among other things. Those of you who disagree that lack of consistency in officiating can determine the outcome of a game need only review the following examples:
Baltimore Raven 27-21 loss to the New England Patriots (Oct 2009)
Detroit Loins 19-14 loss to the Chicago Bears (Week # 1 2010)
Miami Dolphins 23-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers (Week # 7 2010)
I would like to close this post with the following observation. I have often heard, read and been told that part of the game of football is about which participating team gets the most "breaks." Such an assertion couldn't be any farther from the truth. The fallacy in this line of reasoning is that it completely dismisses the self-determining nature of the football game. The moment that an invalid call or non-call is made, or not made, the game in question transitions into an induced state, at which point, the game in question follows a deliberate path of progress that has nothing to do with the actions of either team but rather the unverifiable reasoning of the official. The officials occupy the same position as a mere spectator; that is, until the a player generates an infraction whereby access into the game is opened for the official to perform his duties as regulator. Any interference, or non-interference, outside of this purpose compromises the spontaneity of the game and produces an inferior overall product.

BBVers New York Giants Player Of The Week/Week # 9
Ed's Kudos & Wet Willies post will be very interesting. And I was worried about Special Teams. This was by far one of the most complete games that the NY Giants have played in a long time. The running game, passing game, Special Teams, pass rush and run defense was extraordinary. Coaching was flawless; aside from, TC's decision to keep the starters in the game longer then they should have been. Also, would you believe that Troy Aikman, Jimmy Johnson and others. are now praising the Giants; saying that they are playing the best football in the NFC? Currently 6-2; one of the most dominate teams in the NFL; first place in the NFC East but there is more that I could ask for: A few more Eagles losses. As always, your feedback is welcome below.

POTW Bye-Week Edition: Where They Were. vs Where They Are. & Where Will They Be?
Our Giants drew no opponent this past Sunday. Thus, they enjoyed a well deserved day off considering their performance over the past 4 weeks. Since the bye week left me with some extra time on my hands fan-post publishing wise, I thought that I would use that time to construct this fan-post for the purpose of taking a closer look at top BBV Player of The Week Winners. For the sake of time and time and space I decided to focus on offensive players in this post. Defensive players will be covered later in the season. The question that this post was designed to entertain will be found at the end of this post. It was necessary to place it there because of the need to review the following information in order to answer it. Alright, lets get to it:
NEW YORK GIANTS ALL-TIME LEADING RUSHER
TIKI BARBER RB/OFFENSE
Tiki Barber joined the NY Giants in 1997. It is said that he wasn't the most coveted running back at the time because of his hieght and size. Nevertheless, he was drafted by the Giants in the 2nd round of the 1997 NFL Draft. After two initial sub-par seasons, he established himself as a premier back. He finished his career with a franchise best 10,449 yards and 55 TDs. 5,266 of these yards are rushing yards while the remaining 5,183 are reception yards.
Where Was He Then?
In his 4th year, Tiki Barber carried the ball a total of 213 times and accumulated a season rushing total of 1,006 yards. He complimented his production in rushing by amassing a season total of 719 receiving yards which was the product of 70 receptions. His rushing and receiving totals resulted in a combined season total of 1,725 yards and 1 TDs.
NEW YORK GIANTS 2010 LEADING RUSHER
AHMAD BRADSHAW RB/OFFENSE
Ahmad joined the NY Giants in 2007. He began his career with the Giants as a kick returner; just as Tiki did. He was later placed with the NY Giant RB corp and has fired off a consistent number of strong performances. The fact that he is now the NY Giant starting RB only serves to reinforce this fact. Ahmad currently sits at # 26 on the franchise's all-time leading rusher's list with a career total of 2031 rushing yards and 12 TDs.
Where Is He Now?
Ahmad Bradshaw is presently in his 4th year. With seven games already in the books for the 2010 season, he has a season total of 134 carries, 708 yards and 14 TDs.
NEW YORK GIANTS ALL-TIME LEADING RECEIVER
AMANI TOOMER WR/OFFENSE
Amani Toomer joined the NY Giants in 1996 and 13 years later, he left the NY Giant franchise as it's all-time leading receiver (guess whose is ranked at # 2). During his tenure, he amassed a career total of 9,497 receiving yards which is the product of 668 receptions. He scored a total of 54 TDs and committed 6 fumbles through his entire career, which is quite an impressive feat. Toomer also contributed to bringing a Superbowl Championship to New York.
Where Was He Then?
Amani Toomer wasn't even catching the ball in his 2nd year. At least not as a receiver. He was mostly used for return duties and only amassed a total of 263 yards for the season as a result of 16 receptions. He scored 1 TD and was relatively quiet in 1998 before having a 1,183 yard breakout season in 1999 his 4th season.
NEW YORK GIANTS 2010 LEADING RECEIVER

DELUXE EDITION: And The Week # 7 Winners Are...
Hello guys, sorry for taking so long with the follow-up but the duties of life call sometimes, you know? Anyways, Considering the fact that so many players stepped up this past Monday, I thought that it was necessary to publish a one-time DELUXE EDITION (If you can call it that) to acknowledge some players whom I don't think will ever be voted into the first or second place spotlight. Players whose contributions are mentioned each week but always end up in the Honorable Mentions section with no picture credits. This format that will not be published every week; just those times when a lot more than a few players, in the words of Step Up and Make Big Plays, "step up and make big plays."
WINNERS
HAKEEM NICKS WR/OFFENSE
9 Receptions, 108 Yards, 2 TDs
Vote Tally: 2F + 3RU + 2HM = Vote Total: 4.00
BBVer Comments:
"Another multiple TD game for the Dream. I think he’s officially crossed the line into the elite category." -Plaxico Burress-
MICHEAL BOLEY LB/DEFENSE
4 Solo Tackles, 1 Sack
Vote Tally: 5F + 1R-U = Vote Total: 5.50
"Not just for his knock out hit on Romo, but because he seemed like he was all over the field making plays." -Larry Soprano-
RUNNER-UPS
BRANDON JACOBS RB/OFFENSE
12 Atts - 75 Yds, 1TDs
Vote Tally: 2F + 4HM = Vote Total: 3.00
BBVers Comments:
"I know he had a fumble, and Bradshaw had more yards, but the Brandon Jacobs I saw last night, is the Brandon Jacobs I’ve been waiting to see since 2008." -tito (eight and oh)-
BARRY COFIELD DT/DEFENSE
2 Sacks, 1 Forced Fumbles
Vote Tally: 4F + 3RU = Vote Total: 5.50
BBVers Comments:
"was a big part in holding the Cowboys to jut 41 yards, tip of the cap to you Barry." -tito (eight and oh)-
TOP TIER HONORABLE MENTIONS
AHMAD BRADSHAW RB/OFFENSE - 24 Attempts - 126 Yds, 2 Receptions - 12 Yds
LAWRENCE TYNES PK/OFFENSE- 2 Total Kicks - 1 (20-29) & 1 (50+), 53 Long, 5 X Pts Attempted - 5 X Pts made, 11 Points Total

STEVE SMITH WR/OFFENSE - 9 Receptions - 101 Yards, 1 Td
" May not of been the best WR of the day but that catch when his helmet flew off was crazy good," -The Always Well Dressed-
"for being the constant safety net that Eli has grown to depend on. Its ashame that he never makes it to first or second place but his performance is always worthy of praise." -LoNJDTechnology-
MARIO MANNINGHAM WR/OFFENSE - 3 Receptions- 40 Yards, 1 Td
NY GIANT OFFENSIVE LINE-
"The playmakers made plays last night, but none of it would have been possible without the dominant play by the O-line. They gave Eli time to throw the ball and had a huge push up front to make holes for AB and BJ. These guys need some praise because with all the question marks and injuries in recent weeks, they were the difference makers on O." -Larry Soprano-
"Snee truly does deserve the award this week. Yes, he had a couple of flags, but he also mauled the Cowboys, is the reason that Bradshaw isn’t just a good running back but the NFL rushing leader, and is absolutely vicious when pulling for counters and screens. In reality, Seubert was breat with the downfield blocking this week too, but Snee was just incredible." -Jerry Nicks-

HONORABLE MENTIONS
MATT DODGE P/DEFENSE- 3 Punts, Long 69 Yards, Total Yards 169

BEAR PASCOE TB/OFFENSE -
TERRELL THOMAS CB/DEFENSE - 4 Solo Tackles, 2 Assisted Tackles, 1 Pass Defended

ANTREL ROLLE S/DEFENSE- 4 Solo Tackles, 2 Assisted Tackles, 1 Pass Defended
RAMSES BARDEN WR/OFFENSE - 1 Reception- 22 Yards

BBvers New York Giants Players of The Week/Week# 7
CHANGES: None.
My goodness, this Giants team played exceptionally well tonight. A lot of big time contributions from the least expected players: as well as, the usual suspects. Also, I know that no one wanted to see any one get hurt but I am getting a kick out of the fact that this Giants D is obliterating QBs left and right. IMO, other than SB42, I haven't seen this type of aggressive D from the Giants since the Lawrence Taylor days. SB contenders? I'll say we are. You guys know what to do.
For those of you who are visiting this Fan-post mini-series for the first time, this is an opportunity for you to voice you support in favor of the New York Giants players whose performance you thought stood out from among all of the others in this week's game.
A name is all that is necessary but you can give a reason as to why you believe that the player that you have chosen should get the nod. To make my job a little easier and if you like, you can format your selections in the following manner:
First Choice : OFFENSIVE PLAYER ONE DEFENSIVE PLAYER
Second Choice: OFFENSIVE PLAYER DEFENSIVE PLAYER
Honorable Mentions: PLAYERS NAMES AND COMMENTS
Once again, Congratulations to AHMAD BRADSHAW and OSI UMENYIORA our week # 7 winners.

Vote Tally: 6RU = Vote Total: 3.25
BBVers Comments:
"Eli Manning. Faced some pretty good pressure all game long, never put the ball in harms way." -tito (eight and oh)-
"He didn’t get huge yards, but he almost had a huge play in the first quarter that Nicks could have dove for. He may not have put up huge numbers, but he filled his role as game manager well. He knew that if they lost, they would have to beat themselves, so he made sure that didn’t happen." -Jerry Nicks-

Vote Tally: 4F + 2R-U + 2HM = Vote Total: 5.50

"For the two key catches that he made earlier in the game. You haven’t seen him in the game that much lately but when he is, he almost always contribute in a big way. The TD catch that he made that put us in the lead for the first time in the game really charge our offense and got the ball rolling." -LoNJDTechnology-

BBvers New York Giants Players of The Week/Week# 6
We won. However, despite the result, I still can't help but to think that we dodged a bullet. Maybe its just me. Anyways, please leave your votes and comments below.

BBVer's New York Giant Players of The Week/ Week # 5
CHANGES: "HONORABLE MENTIONS" and "RUNNER-UP" Sections have been added. Now, you can give your First and Second choices respectively for the "WINNERS" and "RUNNER-UPS" sections and praise any additional players who you feel deserve credit for their lesser contributions in the "HONORABLE MENTIONS" section; however, there is a three players limit for this section.
Also, it is now your privilege to leave comments along with any of your selections. I will be including select comments from voters in all of the forthcoming "AND THE WEEK # ? WINNER IS..." posts to give some eccentricity to the series.
Because of the extra information that I will be providing (i.e. stats, comments, etc. ) results will now be published on Tuesdays at a 6pm EST deadline.
Unfortunately, I was unable to watch the beginning of the game and missed the Giants score their first 24 points because I was at work where a television with a Giants game on is not an easy find. I was able to catch 3/4 of the third quarter on the radio and then the rest of the game on TV when I got home. It doesn't matter though, the Giants dominated. They looked good on Offense, aside from the Eli's mental blackouts with the bad passes, and the Defense basically picked up where they left off last week. This is how I expect this talent to play. This is why I become upset when they perform below standards. The sweetest thing about all of this is a Texans fan by the name of BO$$MAN was officially inducted into the "Eat Your Words" club and was unanimously nominated president by all of his peers. Good for you dude!! (two thumbs up with a cheezy smile on my face for ya!)
Once again, Congratulations to HAKEEM NICKS and OSI UMENYIORA our week # 4 winners.
And The Week # 4 Winners Are...
CHANGES: It has been successfully argued by andiamo708, tito (eight and oh), Moshe52792, Willgfass, and others that non-skill players whose achievements had a impact on the game are flying under the radar. So, to compensate for this injustice, I will add a "HONORABLE MENTIONS" section to this post and all forthcoming "BBVer's PLAYER OF THE WEEK" posts hereafter to make sure that more players get the credit they deserve.
A "RUNNER-UP" section has also been added to compensate for those players whose performance paralleled the performance of the winners but failed to get the nod because they received lesser votes. This section will be added to all forthcoming posts as well.
Note: A "PLAYER OF THE WEEK" post will now be published every week. Andiamo708 made me realize that, regardless of whether our team shows up or not on game day, we as fans should show up every day regardless of our team's performance. I am sure that there were players who should have been recognized in week three but were not because of the selfishness of a disgruntled fan. It won't happen again.
WINNERS
HAKEEM NICKS WR/OFFENSE
8 Recs, 110 Yds, 0TDs
OSI UMENYIORA DE/DEFENSE
3 Sacks, 2 Forced Fumbles, 3 Solo Tackles, 1 Assisted Tackle
RUNNER-UPS
AHMAD BRADSHAW RB/OFFENSE

JUSTIN TUCK DE/DEFENSE

HONORABLE MENTIONS
JOHNATHAN GOFF LB/DEFENSE - 4 Solo Tackles, 6 Assisted Tackles, 0.5 Sacks
COREY WEBSTER CB/DEFENSE - 2 Solo Tackles, 1 Assisted Tackle, 1 Pass Defended
CHRIS SNEE G/OFFENSE - "Chris Snee was blocking all over the place – carrying Bradshaw into the end zone was probably the offensive highlight of the day" -BitterEli-
CHRIS CANTY DT/DEFENSE - 4 Solo Tackles, 1 Assisted Tackles, 1 Sack
TERRELL THOMAS CB/DEFENSE - 6 Solo Tackles, 1 Interceptions, 1 Pass Defended
BARRY COEFIELD DT/DEFENSE - 3 Solo Tackles, 1 Assisted Tackle, 1.5 Sacks
BBVer's New York Giants Players of The Week/Week # 4
CHANGES: None.
I took last week off because; quite frankly, I was pissed off with the performance that I saw on the field last week from this Giant team. I didn't think that their performance warranted such an effort. However, last night we witnessed an array of players who made thier presence felt and I think the honor is deserved this week. We NEEDED a win and we got one. Yeah it came against a team that should be 2-2 instead of 3-1 but no complaints from this one. I must say that I was more impressed with the Defense then I was with the Offense and even though I would like to name players, I am sure that you guys have that covered and Ed will cover all of that in his Kudos/Wet Willies post.
For those of you who are visiting this Fan-post mini-series for the first time, this is an opportunity for you to voice you support in favor of the New York Giants players whose performance you thought stood out from among all of the others in this week's game.
Again, a name is all that is necessary but you can give a reason as to why you believe that the player that you have chosen should get the nod. You are allowed to choose ONE OFFENSIVE PLAYER AND ONE DEFENSIVE PLAYER.
Once again, "Congratulations" to AHMAD BRADSHAW and MATHIS KIWANUKA, our week # 2 winners. Results will be published on Tuesday at the 5pm EST deadline.
And The WEEK # 2 Winners Are...
CHANGES: None
I am positively, absolutely sure that this was perhaps the hardest Fan-Post to participate in for the majority of BBVers after the prison rape that we endured this past Sunday. I was twice as difficult for me to write it and see this project through this week because of the same. Nevertheless, there were a small select few who have to know that we appreciated the effort that they put forward for us despite being faced with what turned out to be the insurmountable.
MATHIAS KIWANUKA DE/Deffense
Congratulations to AHMAD BRADSHAW & MATHIAS KIWANUKA for a job well done in week 2!
BBVer's New York Giants Players of The Week/Week # 2
Welcome to the second installment of the NYG Player of the Week Election!!
Wow. Brutal game.
Please select one OFFENSIVE PLAYER AND ONE DEFENSIVE PLAYER.
Once again, "Congratulations" to Eli Manning and Kenny Phillips, our last week's winners. Results will be published on Tuesday at the 5pm EST deadline.
And The Week # 1 Winners Are...
CHANGES: I have changed the deadline time to the following Tuesday after the game at 5:00 EST. That way more fans will be able to cast their votes.
Also, next week, per your preference, you will be allowed to vote for one player on Offense and one player for the Defense. You CAN ONLY VOTE FOR ONE PLAYER ON EACH SIDE OF THE BALL. Many of you are leaving three and four selections; and thus, leaving your choice ambiguous. Work with me people!! (sarcasm :-) ). Now, without further a due, the votes are in and here are your winners.
ELI MANNING QB/Offense
KENNY PHILLIPS Safety/Defense
Congratulations to ELI MANNING & KENNY PHILLIPS for a job well done
in week 1!
New York Giant Player of The Week/Week # 1
What's up fellow NY Giants fans? I thought that it would be awesome to start a little regular season Fan-post mini-series to acknowledge the accomplishments of those players on our New York Giants Team who gave the greatest performance during a game. Here's how it will work: Each week I will publish a Fan-post with the above title. All you have to do is add the name of the player who you feel has gone over and beyond the call of duty in the game. I will post the Fan-post some time during the day that the game is played. The Fan-post will be published before the start time of the game so you can enter your choice as early as you like. There is no need to recommend the Fan-post in which the you are posting your vote. However, after the winner has been selected, Rec'd are welcome so that the winning player can get his due credit especially if the feat that was achieved by the player in question was spectacular enough to warrant such an honor. The winning player Fan-post will be published no later than 5pm EST on the following day. You need only give a name but you may also give your reason why. The reason must relate to the current game. It is possible for a player to win two weeks in a row. However, two is the max. Once again and as always, thank you in advance for partaking.
Giants Fandom in Pictures
The title basically speaks for itself. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I think that this saying is so close to the truth. Take our username/persona pictures for example. We commemorate our favorite players; our favorite moments; our favorite team: our own skill and abilities; aspects of our personal lives; the list goes on and on. So express your "thousand words" by posting picture(s) that embody your most glorious moment as a Giants fan. I have began the thread with mine. Thank you in advance for partaking.
Don't know how to post a pictiure? Here's how:
1. Go to GOOGLE images.
2. Type in your favorite Giants moment.
3. You should get a load of pictures related to your memory.
4. Highlight the URL in the address bar.
5. Now, go to the post and select the picture icon in the "Post New Comment."
6. Right-click and select "Paste" the URL will appear in the box.
6. Hit "OK" and VWALA!

Pro Bowl In New Meadowlands Stadium Too?
A short time ago, the NJ/NY area received the wonderful news that the 2014 Super Bowl will be held at the New Meadowlands Stadium; which is, now the new home of the New York Giants and the New York Jets. This task has been fully embraced; even with the understanding that, it will take an effort of monumental proportions, from all of those who will be involved in this process, to make sure that each and every Super Bowl hosting reqiurement is met and to ensure that all the expectations that come with making this particular Super Bowl event memorable are matched if not exceeded.
Now, with all of the talk and hype, with respect to the Super Bowl being held at the New Giants/Jets Meadowlands Stadium in 2014, there is one other story, that I consider to be of equal importance, which seems to have slipped through the proverbial cracks of the limelight.
