Cleveland's Injuries: Bad Luck or a Trend?
For several seasons we've been complaining on here about our bad luck with injuries. Now football is a rough sport and injuries are part and parcel of an NFL season for every club, but have we been unluckier than most, and is there a trend? Football Outsiders now has a metric to assess this in some way, but my first introduction to this idea was in the 2007 preview, when they noted that the Patriots had a very high DB mortality rate- and so did the Crennel coached Browns. Though there was no obvious reason for this- in tactical/coverage terms- the Patriots connection did make you wonder. So onto this years FO Almanac, and their numbers.
Pork Chop to Arizona
Anyone else worried about this? He did keep the right side of our line together in the absence of anything better, whether at guard or at tackle. And what is this Arizona connection?
From a ladyfriend who didn't even know who LeBron is or who he plays for but found it funny. I just had to get this for you guys even if I don't really give a damn about hoops.

Rod Windsor, Browns WR
Who knew?
I have no idea where Arena Football is in terms of talent, but these stats aren't too shabby. You can only beat whatever defense is in front of you after all.
193 catches for 2,372 yards and 47 touchdowns
btw I'm not saying we don't need Green but maybe there are some crumbs of comfort on the cupboard
Patriots sign Stroud
My first thought: this just proves that Stroud was well worth signing.
Second is that if he didn't fit the Bill's new 3-4, what is it that the Pats see?
I can't help but think we missed out here on a player that could really have helped.
Bills release Marcus Stroud who doesn't fit in their new 3-4. We have Jauron & moving to a 4-3.
Christmastime?
"Eagle" Defense (2-5-4)
"Watching" the Lions manhandle us last night, with our gang of so-so linebackers and cardboard cutouts at DE made me think back to Fritz Shurmur's "Eagle" defense for the LA Rams back around 1990. He played a 2-5 with a "nosebacker" position.
So, what about Rogers & Ruybin on the DL (no one else worth starting) then a left-to-right LB corps of
Gocong-Jackson-Veikune-Fujita-Roth
Bowens backing up Veikune, Maiva backing ILB & Benard backing OLB.
Of course the caveat is the Rams back then had enough quality at LB to field two starting four man units. They were also sorely lacking at DL. Just a thought, like!
