Boys will be Boys take on Jimmy Johnson

After reading Pearlman's new book, I couldn't help but wonder what the Jimmy Johnson of the '90s would be able to accomplish with a team as talented as the 2008 Dallas Cowboys. I know the Cowboys were great back then, but one of the reasons that was the case is because of how hard it was to play for Johnson. He would cut a good player if he didn't put his heart and soul into the team, on and off the field. Because of Johnson, there were no weak links on the team. That is kind of how I feel about this year's squad.

Now I didn't start this post to question the coaching of Wade Phillips, and believe-you-me, I think he has done an excellent job as head coach. 16-4 in his first 20 games speaks for itself. But I really worry about the discipline of this squad. If you played for the Cowboys in the '90s and you contined to make stupid penalties in games, you would incur the wrath of the Jimster. Players didn't like him personally, but they would go out on Sundays and kick ass because he motivated them. And after winning 2 superbowls in a row, Irvin and Aikman would run through a wall for him.

I just don't want to see this team's ability go to waste. I think everyone on this board believes that the Dallas Cowboys have the most talent in the NFL. Furthermore, with the Patriots' dominance of the league not in play this season, the Boys need to strike when the iron is hot. The NFL is too hard a league for a team to be done in by coaching and discipline, wasting a window of opportunity.

Do you think Wade Phillips can lead this team to the Superbowl?? I don't want to hear anymore post-playoff game press conferences in which Phillips is having to make excuses for why his team didn't win.

For Johnson, winning it all was the only thing that mattered. I hope that is how Phillips feels inside.

Everybody, we've been hearing from all of the Romo haters on ESPN and radio shows all over the country, but nothing can prepare you from what I am about to report.

It seems that Troy Aikman, yes ,Mr. Cowboy himself, has been added to the list of Romo-haters...Aikman sat down with former great Dallas journalist, Skip, to discuss why he has a bone to pick with # 9. It seems that Aikman has forgiven Bayless for starting the rumor that Troy was gay and now they both are joining forces to bring down Lil Romeo!!

Here is an excerpt from today's interview. I warn you, it wasn't pretty. Proceed at your own risk.

Skip: "Troy, why does Tony "Romeo" get on your nerves like he does mine?"

TA: "Well, Skip, Let me first begin by saying that I don't think Romo has ever won anything in his life, not even a championship in pee wee football. He's 0-2 in the playoffs and he just can't get it done. As soon as I put the Cowboys on my back and took them to the playoffs, the next thing you know Jimmy's yelling, "How bout them Cowboys!" and we're Superbowl champs. I won three superbowls in 4 seasons and all anyone can talk about is Tony <expletive> Romo. It's unbelievable. He shouldn't have idolized Brett Favre growing up. He should have idolized 8. Cowboys kicked the Pack's ass every time they played them. Everyone knows I was better than Faver, but that's a topic for another day. Anyways, I'm rambling."

SB: "I couldn't agree more, Troy. Every great quarterback should win every playoff game they ever play in. No excuses. But what about the whole Jessica saga?"

TA: "All I can say about that is Romo doesn't deserve a beautiful hottie like Ms. Simpson..Back after we'd won a couple championships, I started singing country songs and dating Lorrie Morgan. Morgan was pretty, but she wasn't up to par for a 2X champion. And I wasn't just a champion, I was a damn good country singer. It's too bad Jessica was born about a decade too late because she would have been Troy's. Once again, Romo doesn't deserve a hottie like that.."

SB: "And what about that awful, ear-splitting voice of Tony's?"

TA: "Man, that sounds like a cat caugt in a wood chipper!!! I can't believe they let him sing "Take me out to the Ballgame" at Wrigley field. If I was at Wrigley that day, I would have thrown the pig-skin a quarter mile on a rope as I did in the '92 NFC Championship Game against the Niners, hitting Freaky Harp for 50 yards..Notice I said NFC Championship Game, Tony!!! Loser...Oh and what is this Journey "Don't Stop Believing" CRAP??!! Are you Serious??? Tony doesn't know anything about football or music. No self-respecting man listens to Journey. Give me Shenandoah any day."

SB: "I hear you have a voodoo football doll in the likeness of Romo?"

TA: "Ya got me, Skip. As long as I have the doll, there is no way Romo will ever pass my greatness. I'm thinking about selling 'em on Ebay. And with that, I've gotta go and dominate Joe Buck in broadcasting. (Rising from his seat, Troy walks away from interview, screaming "Joe Buck aint got shit on Troy!""'

Anyways, I thought this was a fitting tribute to all of the idiocy surrounding Rick Romo aka Tony Homo aka Romeo..But with that said, everybody is just jealous of a good ole American, living his dream and leading the Cowboys to present and future greatness.

Media in Dallas...

For the most part, I think the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Dallas Morning News have pretty fair and unbiased coverage of the Cowboys..Just because you cover the hometown team doesn't mean your'e a fan.

But certain local radio personalities on ESPN are absolutely clueless. Shocker, right?? Well I was driving home today at about 4 p.m. and I turned on 103.3 to hear Galloway, Estridge and Moseley talking about the Cowboys schedule. What struck me as ridiculous was that Galloway and Estridge both said the Cowboys would lose at Arizona and at Pittsburgh, no questions asked..Without any explanation. Moseley was the only voice of reason, talking about Kurt Warner being a statue and the Cards' defense being terrible. While Moseley may be a homer, he is a very good journalist and he does understand football...

However, it was just funny how Estridge and Galloway just talked, without saying anything educated at all. I know Galloway is all about shock-talk, but he is an idiot...Estridge would later say that Ray Lewis may be the best all-around player in the NFL. Not Ray Lewis of 2000, but TODAY!

Furthermore, the two radio hosts also said the Cowboys would lose at least 3-4 games within the division..So a team that went 4-2 within the division last season and is even better this year is going to 1-4 the rest of the way against the east.. When they've already beaten arguably the 2nd best within the division??

I'm about to graduate from TCU with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and I can tell you that I will never, EVER allow myself to say things to insult the sports intelligence of a city. Especially if I am in a position where people listen to what I have to say..

Rant almost over....Oh and how does Gregg Williams have a job doing anything on the radio...The guy can't speak in complete sentences and he butchers my ears. Also said the Cowboys can't play man because they don't have cover corners...Ok!!!

Thoughts??

Question unrelated to Cowboys regarding Adrian Peterson

Hey everybody, life-long Cowboys fan here who has a question regarding the Vikings' Adrian Peterson. I am an east texas native and I grew up not too far away from Palestine, Peterson's home. Outside of Marion Barber, he is my favorite player to watch because of how electric each one of his carries can be.

Anyways, a while back I bet a buddy of mine that he would break the all-time record for yards from scrimmage in a season. A few of my friends thought I was crazy, but I truly believe he is the one guy who could do it. I believe the record is Marshall Faulk with just under 2,500. What do y'all think it would take for this to happen? I win a steak dinner at Del Frisco's in Fort Worth if he breaks it and I don't have to do anything if he doesn't.

So far, he's right at 300 yards from scrimmage through 2 games. So to get to 2,500, he would have to average 157 yards per game.

I really wish Minnesota would run more swing/screen passes to Peterson and just let him go to work. The less time Jackson has the ball in his hand and the more time AD has it will mean more yards and more wins.

Thoughts??
